Lind tried to find answers from his current companions but all of them had never even heard of such creatures. Further, none of them had ever detected anything in the time they had explored the darkness.
To them, new holds or visiting others was the point. They might scan for any irregularities in the holds but they never detected anything in the dark itself.
Lind frowned as he had very limited experience just outside his hold or confronting the Bastard. He did not want to ignore a possible contingency nor something not even brought up in the ancient records of the Elementals.
Since it was focused on the end of the current Eternal Realm generation, it was entirely possible such creatures were harmless but Lind could not shake a feeling.
When he had seen whatever it was, it made his dantian and Harmonic Core recoil. Yet, he had no idea why.
So he tried a different tack. Did anyone know of the oldest living Eternal Realm cultivator? There was an older spectrum known like Goldthorn and Violet Cloud.
They were definitely there before the majority he currently interacted with. Even Shattering Fist Eternal came a few billion years after those 2. Still, billions of years were nothing to them.
It took something on par with an epoch to really separate the older Eternal Realm cultivators from the rest.
The 2 did confirm other holds existed but they were rather reclusive. While some had come to his hold, they were part of the handful that always reached out from that group.
Lind wanted to go meet them but even the wild ape dissuaded him from doing so. There were stories of those with both good and ill intentions trying to pry into those holds never seen and those people never returned.
He found that unlikely until Goldthorn swore on his dantian that he had seen a fool human tear into one of the holds and then that person's newly made hold collapsed not long after!
That was a massive contradiction from what they had all told him! They had gone on and on that killing each other was difficult. It was not worth it, yet here they were telling him that some ancient monsters existed that did so with ease?!
"I won't jump in, I will politely explain why I am there and if they do not answer, that is all that will happen." No one objected to his plan but they did warn him to keep his distance. A hold's border could expand to suck in someone if they were close enough.
He sighed and took down the general direction and description of the energies he was looking for.
Lind then took a few precautions based on the report from his machine. The Bastard had to be watching or looking for a chance. Going to his base was a death trap but not the only place the Fiend could strike.
He altered not only his appearance but even his wavelengths to match an Elemental Eternal Realm he had met. While exterior appearances were one thing, many would have been shocked at the rest.
Eternal Realm foundations were unique and impossible to completely mimic at all. Lind, however, was a monster in human form.
His harmony was unlike any other. His Harmonic Core just made it insane. The trick was his Tapestry and Possibilities Mysteries gave him the ability to change so drastically.
It was draining but he just needed to slip away. He flew up and no one even glanced as he was now just one of the many known residents of the Eternal Realm. A few Elementals frowned but probably because the person he mimicked was not supposed to be there.
Lind smirked and left his hold. The darkness was no longer empty to him even before he shifted his Eyes.
He used all his Talents as best he could but he still felt nothing but the holds and the space between. He felt a chill as he either was nowhere near whatever he had seen or it was beyond his ability to detect.
He then flew off. The holds were not static exactly, yet they stayed in a relative pattern to each other. Once a new hold was made, it would settle into the pattern of energies before the whole group stabilized.
Thus, relatively speaking, a specific hold could be found in relation to those around it. Goldthorn and Violet Cloud knew the ones he was looking for the best.
As he flew, he frowned. While he had saved most of the holds, the damage lingered. Cracks of healed energy were clear to him and some were smaller than they should be. He had no idea if they even could be recovered.
Eventually, he felt a change. His instincts were riled by something but it was not the darkness, it was his targets. He felt a quiet urge to pull back and he listened. They glowed much like others but a distinct desire to keep all away was there.
Lind cupped his hands as he resumed his original appearance.
[Seniors, I am Lind Frey. I am unsure if you are aware of my fight against the Fiend but I was the one that laced your barriers with my Qi. I am not here for compensation or recognition, but I recently saw something I am hoping one of you may know about. A creature that lives in the darkness.]
He admitted he had already intruded on their space but even they had to know it was a rescue, not an invasion. He waited outside and did not dare move a step forward.
After a month, an alien appeared. Most of the Eternal Realm cultivators were humanoid or beasts but here was a species he knew was unlike anything he had ever met.
There were 4 fingers on their hands, pale blue skin that was made of stone or some other material than flesh. Yet, the aura was clear. Eternal Realm cultivator! There was not a head, exactly. It was more like the upper area above the torso was liquid.
The lower body was hidden behind some kind of silken material.
Lind smiled and bowed low once more.
[Greetings, senior.] Pure respect and nothing else. The figure flew around him slowly and then seemed to find something it was looking for.
Intense pressure filled Lind's mind! He had never felt such a powerful transmission! The pressure lifted a bit but understanding flooded him. He knew how to kill an Eternal Realm! A fatal weakness! The mind!
No mind meant the Harmonic Core would shatter! Death would come as they were ripped apart!
He also had a lot of information filling his mind. It took a while but he slowly figured it out.
It was not words but more like sensations and the intent let him parse out words.
[You are whole, throne set, good. I am Xeyra. Gratitude for protection from damaged one. You seek the First?] Lind rubbed his head and the figure seemed to understand he would take time.
Considering it was a translation, he may have lost a few things. He took a moment and the last part might be what he was looking for.
He summoned a jade stone and a projection appeared. The partially lit figure by the light played and the pale blue figure seemed to enjoy the artifact as much as the projection.
He was about to confirm when he disappeared. He was at least 100 kilometers away while a mace cut through the spot he had just been in.
[DO NOT TRICK HER! YOU WILL NOT ENSNARE HER!] A crazed man in pure black stared at him. A human but his skin was engraved with glowing power. Direct inscription in to his skin? Why?
Lind pointed at the image fiercely.
[Are you talking about this or them?] His hand then switched to the first figure. The man glared with eyes that seemed to flicker with literal flame. He then swung the mace but before Lind could move a third figure caught his arms.
Another alien. Very similar to the first but made of deep crimson and the lower body was 3 tentacles?!
The crazed human struggled but then his face blanked and he passed out.
The red figure seemed to sigh in a way Lind recognized. He instantly liked the person.
[I am Feor, I am better at conversing with your kind. Pure Heart Eternal is driven by his emotions alone. Reason will not work with him.] The title made Lind look at the passed out figure. So many questions came to his mind but he pointed as his projection again.
Xeyra was glowing and motioning rapidly to Feor. He held up his hands and waved at her to calm down.
[Ahem, the First was here when we arrived. No hold but an Eternal Realm cultivator. They are not sentient, or at least they do not respond. We do not know how long they were alone but it is possible they nearly Dimmed.] The term instantly connected to what he grasped about Eternal Realm cultivators.
He filed it away but now grasped there were no creatures, just one. The reason he could not find them was because they had chosen to hide. How had the Bastard missed it?
Such an easy meal but it was left alone?
He found that highly unlikely.
He then updated the pair on many things that he had learned as well as a few other things. They already knew about Harmonic Cores but for them it was a very difficult step. He then spread his knowledge and wished it to spread to their neighbors.
He was about to leave when Xeyra became animated again.
[Sigh, she would like to know about your artifact. We do not see like your kind. She has never seen such fine and interesting arrays.] Lind smirked and summoned several artifacts. He included his theories on 6 elementals and more.
She became clearly happy and then pointed at him while looking at Feor. The crimson one nodded and summoned a strange stone.
[Take this. When you go to fight, we will come.] Lind paused but then pushed it back.
[I will not sacrifice people. Instead, help keep others safe. That is all I ask.] Both froze at his words before a strange feeling washed over Lind. He knew another of their kind was watching.
{The First will attack most, but not you. I think they have been waiting for you.} The words were from somewhere far away but Lind felt a chill. The power was far beyond him!
It was clear they were close to ascending and he had just passed some kind of test!
