Chapter 288: Chapter 193: Leaving (2)

Fang Yue took the water and drank a few sips. Then, he closed his eyes to meditate and recover his body’s Primordial Qi.

The night passed in silence.

「The next day.」

As the first rays of sunlight pierced the valley, Fang Yue slowly opened his eyes.

He had spent the entire night cultivating, and his Primordial Qi was fully restored.

The moment he opened his eyes, he saw Qiudi already bustling about.

Qiudi had already washed up, her face as smooth and delicate as an infant’s. A pale pink dress perfectly highlighted her graceful figure.

’Good grief, she even brought a change of clothes. I wonder if she stashed them here beforehand or if she just carries them with her.’

Just then, Qiudi looked up and flashed Fang Yue a dazzling smile.

The smile caught Fang Yue completely off guard. He coughed awkwardly as he snapped out of it and quickly averted his gaze.

"You... you’re awake!" Qiudi said.

"Yes," Fang Yue nodded. "I owe you my thanks for what you did."

"Think nothing of it!" Qiudi gave a small smile and returned her attention to the fire.

"You should go back, then. Return to the village as soon as you can. It’s safe there." After what happened last night, there was no way Fang Yue was going back to the village.

’As an outsider, I’d never find peace in that village.’

"You haven’t taken me as your master yet. Wherever you go, I’ll go." Qiudi, of course, was unwilling to leave. She was determined to make Fang Yue her disciple.

Fang Yue smiled wryly. ’This girl is so persistent. Why is she so dead set on making me her disciple?’

Then he remembered she had mentioned knowing other ways to leave this place, so he spoke again.

"Alright, then. If you can get me out of here—I mean, back to the world on the other side—I will accept you as my master."

"Back to the world on the other side? You want to go back?"

Qiudi exclaimed in surprise. "What’s wrong with this place? If you stay here, the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi is dense, so you can cultivate much faster. Do you have any idea how many people in the outside world are dying to get in here?"

"My family is over there. I want to go back." Fang Yue nodded. His gaze drifted to the horizon as he added, "I have to go back."

"I understand. I’ll get you out." Qiudi bit her lip, a look of resolve flashing in her eyes, as if she had made a difficult decision.

"Then I’m in your debt," Fang Yue said gratefully.

"We’re both getting something out of this." Qiudi beamed. "I get you out, you accept me as your master. We’ll be even."

Hearing this, Fang Yue sighed inwardly and said nothing more.

~~~~~~~
That morning, Fang Yue and Qiudi left the valley and headed east.
This was the complete opposite direction from which Fang Yue had entered.
’What in the world is this place? Is it really the Demon Realm?’ Fang Yue wondered as they traveled. He looked at the surroundings, so starkly different from the lands of the Great Wei, and watched as enormous beasts occasionally thundered past in the forest.
It was hard for Fang Yue not to associate this place with the legendary Demon Realm.
According to the records in the Observatory, the world sealed by the node was the Demon Realm.
However, Fang Yue had never heard any stories about the Demon Realm, so he didn’t dare to make assumptions.
But he had to admit, this place was rather suitable for a cultivator’s survival. Not only was the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi abundant, but Spirit Grass, Spirit Medicine, and other treasures were also commonplace.
"This isn’t the Demon Realm, of course," Qiudi explained. "If it were the true Demon Realm, humans wouldn’t be able to survive here."
"That’s true," Fang Yue nodded.
Although he had never personally been to the Demon Realm, he had heard tales of its horrors. The Demon Fiends living there were said to be terrifyingly powerful.
Furthermore, Demon Fiends loved to devour the essence of flesh and blood, and to them, human flesh was an exquisite delicacy.
"This is a desolate Primitive Mountain Range, and all sorts of Demon Beasts live within it. We need to bypass the Primitive Mountain Range and head northeast toward the Great Mang Mountain Range."
"That is the intersection of the Demon Realm and the Human Realm. It is the remnant of an Ancient Battlefield, and there, you can find a rift that leads to the outside world."
"The Great Mang Mountain Range! The intersection of the Demon and Human Realms!" Fang Yue was shocked to hear this.
’In that case, this place is actually still part of the Human Realm.’
’And the Demon Realm actually exists. It’s not just a legend.’
This left Fang Yue in a daze. It felt as if he had traveled through space and time to an entirely different world.
"Let’s hurry. We still have a ways to go to reach the Great Mang Mountain Range," Qiudi urged, quickening her pace.
"Alright." Fang Yue nodded and followed.
The two of them raced through the mountains. Since they were cultivators, not ordinary people, their speed was incredible. In a single day, they covered several hundred miles.
They didn’t stop to rest, pushing onward despite the sweltering heat.
They ran like this for four or five days straight.
During those four or five days, Fang Yue didn’t encounter any particularly powerful Demon Beasts.
But just then, he suddenly stopped, his face filled with vigilance.
"What’s wrong?" Qiudi asked, noticing his strange reaction.
Fang Yue didn’t answer, instead casting his gaze into the distance.
There, a giant black wolf stood silently, emanating a powerful, baleful aura.
Fang Yue sensed its presence and was somewhat surprised.
’To think I’d run into this giant wolf here of all places!’
It was the same Wolf King that had besieged Taohua Village.
’I thought this Wolf King had given up, but it actually followed us all this way. And now, here it is, right before my eyes.’
"Be careful. This thing is strong!" Fang Yue warned.
Hearing Fang Yue’s words, Qiudi’s expression also grew grim, her eyes fixed on the Wolf King.
When the Wolf King saw Fang Yue, the corners of its mouth curled into a cruel arc.
Then, it leaped toward Fang Yue.
Fang Yue dared not be complacent. He leaped aside to dodge the Wolf King’s pounce, then his body blurred into a whirlwind. Quick as lightning, he shaped his hand into a claw and swiped at the Wolf King’s neck.
However, just as his hand shot out, he felt an intense sense of crisis emanating from the Wolf King.
THWACK! THWACK! THWACK! Fang Yue’s palm strikes landed on the Wolf King’s body, but he was thrown back, stumbling several steps in retreat.
Fang Yue’s expression changed drastically. ’Just as I expected. This won’t be easy.’
The Wolf King was enormous. It towered over Fang Yue by nearly a full body length, putting him at a clear disadvantage.
"ROAR!" The Wolf King let out a furious howl, its crimson eyes filled with savagery.
Its speed was incredible. It shot into the air, twisted its body, and dove toward Fang Yue once more.
Fang Yue’s expression hardened. He pushed off with his arms, launching his body into the air and dodging to the side.
WHOOSH!
The Wolf King opened its cavernous, blood-red maw and snapped down at Fang Yue, a foul stench billowing from its mouth.
Just then, Fang Yue exploded with power, the Qi and blood in his body roaring to life.
BAM!
Fang Yue swung his fist upward, smashing it into the Wolf King’s head.
"AWOOO!" The Wolf King howled in pain as its body tumbled to the ground.
It lifted its massive head, its scarlet pupils locked on Fang Yue with a bloodthirsty, savage expression. Then, with a lunge, it charged at him again.
Fang Yue raised an eyebrow. ’This beast is certainly ferocious!’
This time, he held nothing back. Pushing off with his legs, he launched himself into the air and delivered a powerful side kick, sending the Wolf King flying more than ten meters.
"Hmph!" Fang Yue snorted. He leaped forward, appearing before the Wolf King once again. Forming a sword-finger with his hand, he stabbed toward the beast’s throat.
The Wolf King was agile and dodged Fang Yue’s attack.
Then, the Wolf King twisted its body and swept its tail toward Fang Yue.
Startled, Fang Yue hastily retreated, narrowly avoiding the sweeping tail. The moment he landed, he threw a punch.
This punch contained the full force of his body, and its power was terrifying.
The Wolf King didn’t dare to face it head-on. It twisted its body and dodged the blow.
SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
Fang Yue pressed his advantage, throwing three consecutive punches, each one immensely powerful.
"AROOO..." The Wolf King cried out in agony. Three bloody holes now marred its body.
The wounds were bone-deep, and fresh blood gushed forth.
