Everyone Swings Weapons I'm Too Lazy, So I Summon Their Attacks
Chapter 48 First Team BattleChapter 48: Chapter 48 First Team Battle
After the announcement, Aster returned to the resting room. Alas was the first to rush over, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"That was so cool! I want to do something like that too!"
Adrian narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
"Don’t tell me you took some forbidden enhancement drug! I’m warning you, those things can make you unable to have babies."
Aster rolled his eyes while Yor sighed. "Now I’m actually worried they’ll all team up against us again."
Adrian shrugged. "Or they might just quit the tournament after seeing that attack."
Everyone burst into laughter.
Just then, General Cassius walked into the room with a wide grin.
"HAHAHA! Aster, you’ve exceeded even my expectations. Right now everyone in the stadium is talking about you and our Military College."
Aster scratched his cheek awkwardly. "I was just lucky."
Before anyone could continue the conversation, the announcer’s voice echoed throughout the stadium once more.
"Ladies and gentlemen! That concludes today’s Captain One-on-One Battle! Starting tomorrow, the Team Battle will officially begin. To determine tomorrow’s matchups, please welcome our special guest.... the President!"
The audience erupted into thunderous applause as the president walked into the arena.
Aster watched him with interest before his gaze shifted to the green-haired girl standing quietly beside him.
"So the president’s daughter was actually that girl..."
Almost as if she sensed his gaze, she turned toward him and offered a gentle smile.
Alas noticed immediately and glanced between the two with a mischievous grin.
"Looks like you two know each other."
Yor smiled knowingly. "I think I can guess where someone has been disappearing to these past few days."
Aster nearly choked. "Guys, it’s not what you’re all thinking!"
The others simply laughed, making Aster even more embarrassed.
The announcer interrupted their teasing. "Now then, Mr. President, please draw the lottery!"
The entire stadium fell silent.
Thousands of spectators watched closely as the president stepped toward the lottery box. He calmly shuffled the folded paper slips before reaching inside and drawing them one by one.
The announcer unfolded the papers. "And here are tomorrow’s Team Battle matchups!"
Everyone held their breath. Some spectators quietly prayed. "Please... anyone but Aurora City."
The announcer continued.
"Dungeon City versus Magic City!"
"Imperial City versus Merchant City!"
"Green City versus Aqua City!"
Finally, he announced the last matchup.
"Aurora City versus Hidden City!"
Cheers instantly erupted across the stadium. The teams that had avoided Aurora City celebrated with relief.
"Yes!"
"Thank goodness!"
"At least we don’t have to fight that monster!"
Meanwhile, the Hidden City’s supporters could only bury their faces in their hands.
"Aw, man..."
Inside Hidden City’s resting room...
A heavy silence filled the room. Their unconscious captain had already been taken away for treatment.
A young man wearing a green hooded robe slammed his fist against the table. "Damn it! Why do we have to face that monster in the very first round?"
A girl wearing a brown hooded robe remained calm. "Relax. Tomorrow isn’t a one-on-one battle. His teammates will be there too. If he uses another attack like today’s, he’ll end up hitting his own allies as well."
A man in a blue hooded robe crossed his arms confidently. "Leave Aster to me. I’ll deal with him myself."
The green-robed man stared at him in disbelief. "Our captain couldn’t even beat him. What makes you think you can?"
"He only lost because he was caught off guard," the blue-robed man replied confidently. "I’m the fastest among us. I won’t even give Aster enough time to activate any skill."
The brown-robed girl shook her head. "Enough arguing. Let’s wait until Captain wakes up before making any plans."
The room finally fell quiet.
Meanwhile, Aster and the others returned to the boot camp. That evening, Captain Lyra gathered everyone inside the meeting room to discuss tomorrow’s battle.
She pointed toward the tactical map.
"Hidden City is located in the southern region of Country B. It’s a massive, overcrowded district that has spread beneath and around the southern edges of Imperial City and Merchant City."
Her expression became serious.
"The streets are filled with narrow alleys, black markets, and endless shadows. It’s the perfect environment for assassin-type classes, which is why they produce more assassins than anywhere else in the country."
She looked directly at Aster. "They specialize in ambushes. So watch your back at all times."
Alas immediately nodded. "Don’t worry, Captain. We won’t let anyone get past us to reach him."
Captain Lyra smiled slightly before becoming serious once more. "There’s one more thing."
Everyone looked at her. "I want Aster to keep a low profile for the first few rounds."
The group exchanged puzzled looks. Seeing their confusion, she explained, "These matches against other cities are merely friendly competitions."
She paused briefly. "But once the national tournament ends, you’ll face teams from other countries."
Her voice grew colder. "They won’t treat this as a friendly tournament. If they discover someone with enough talent to threaten their future, they’ll try to eliminate that threat before it has a chance to grow."
The room instantly became silent. Everyone understood what she meant. Aster nodded calmly. "Understood, Captain."
The next day, the stadium was packed once again. The announcer’s energetic voice echoed across the arena.
"Ladies and gentlemen! The first match of the Team Battle is about to begin! Please welcome the competing teams!"
The audience erupted into cheers.
"Aurora City!"
"Hidden City!"
The two teams walked into the arena from opposite sides before stopping face to face.
The Hidden City’s team wore hooded robes that concealed most of their faces, giving them an eerie, mysterious appearance. In contrast, Aurora City’s team stood proudly in their black military uniforms.
The announcer raised his hand.
"Begin!"
The spectators immediately focused on the battlefield.
Unlike yesterday, Aster remained at the rear, calmly holding Aegis Fang while observing the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Adrian, Alas, and Yor charged forward to engage the enemy.
Yor summoned several towering treants, instantly filling the battlefield with massive trees. Thick vines burst from the treants, spreading across the arena like living serpents and creating countless traps.
The battlefield quickly became a maze.
Although the assassins possessed incredible speed, the vines greatly restricted their movements.
Adrian activated Tempest Step. After advancing his class, he could now perform a second step in midair, allowing him to leap between obstacles and attack from unpredictable angles.
At the same time, Alas unleashed wave after wave of Divine Smite, firing golden slashes across the battlefield to pressure the enemy from a distance.
The three fought together flawlessly.
However...
The Hidden City’s captain suddenly melted into the shadows.
His body disappeared completely.
The next instant...
He bypassed every vine and treant before silently emerging behind Yor. Yor sensed the danger almost instantly.
She swung her hand, causing several vines to lash toward him.
Unfortunately...
She was just a fraction of a second too slow.
Slash!
The assassin’s dagger pierced her side before he instantly retreated.
"One down." the assassin said.
Without Yor controlling the vines, many of the traps disappeared. Adrian and Alas immediately found themselves struggling to keep up with the assassins’ overwhelming speed.
Seeing the situation, Aster calmly raised his palm. "Rebirth Palm." A brilliant green palm of light shot across the battlefield and landed on his teammates.
A warm emerald glow enveloped all three of them. Yor’s wound healed almost instantly.
The fatigue Adrian and Alas had accumulated also vanished completely. The Hidden City’s team froze in disbelief.
"A healing skill?!"
Taking advantage of their momentary distraction, Adrian, Alas, and Yor immediately counterattacked.
The audience gasped.
"Wait... wasn’t Aster an attack-type class?"
"He can heal too?"
"What kind of monster is this?"
Even General Cassius widened his eyes.
"That’s a martial art... Where did that brat learn martial arts? And it’s even a healing technique"
Back on the battlefield...
Yor’s vines wrapped around the enemy captain before he could escape.
Alas immediately followed with a powerful Divine Smite, sending a golden slash crashing into the brown-robed assassin.
At almost the same time, Adrian flashed past another opponent. "Lightning Draw!" A streak of lightning flashed through the arena.
Crack!
The red glowing crystal embedded in his opponent’s chest shattered instantly. Within seconds, three members of Hidden City’s team had already been eliminated.
Only then did Aurora City’s team realize... One enemy was missing. Their expressions changed. They immediately turned toward Aster.
Too late.
The fourth assassin silently emerged from the shadows directly behind him.
"You’re finished, Aster!"
The assassin thrust his dagger forward.
Then...
His body suddenly froze.
"Huh?"
His pupils shrank.
"What... Why can’t I move?!"
Aster slowly turned around, his expression completely calm. "You’re wondering why you can’t move?"
Invisible chains of mana had already wrapped tightly around the assassin’s body. The Bind effect had activated.
"Captain warned me to watch out for sneak attacks. So I’ve been releasing Bind continuously across the battlefield. Assassins may be fast... but their Attack stat is relatively low. That makes them the easiest targets for Bind." Aster thought
The assassin struggled desperately, but the invisible chains refused to budge.
Aster calmly raised his palm.
"Palm Strike."
A massive golden palm manifested before crashing into the immobilized assassin.
BOOM!
The assassin was blasted across the arena before smashing heavily into the ground.
Silence filled the stadium.
A second later...
The announcer shouted excitedly, "The winner of the first Team Battle... Aurora City!"
The entire stadium erupted.
"AURORA!"
"Aster!"
"What an incredible team!"
"Military College is unstoppable!"
Thunderous applause echoed throughout the arena as Aurora City’s team left the battlefield victorious.
The remaining matches soon came to an end as well.
The first round results were:
Aurora City vs Hidden City — Aurora City Victory
Dungeon City vs Magic City — Dungeon City Victory
Imperial City vs Merchant City — Imperial City Victory
Green City vs Aqua City — Green City Victory
