Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress
Chapter 650: Breaking Into the FortressWhile Liora was devouring the energy stored within the formation, using it as nourishment to further upgrade the Cosmic Sea, the battle in the outside world was still raging.
The veteran Emperors of the four Apex Civilizations remained locked in a fierce confrontation, with the ancient cultivators assisting the Mechanical Race to contain everyone else.
Although their numbers were less than their opponents’, they managed to gradually obtain a lead in this battle.
The War God’s expression turned solemn as he stared at the ancient cultivators surrounding him.
Swords, spears, and other spells frantically attacked him from every direction, making it impossible for him to let his guard down.
The War God was feeling helpless.
Although these people were all weaker than him individually, their treasures and strange methods still put him at a disadvantage.
He was not the only one facing this issue.
When he raised his head, he found that both the Cosmos Emperor and the Heaven Emperor were currently entangled by opponents, as was the case with the rest of the human race.
The War God grumbled inwardly.
He had tried to send out messages, requesting reinforcements from the Human Federation.
Unfortunately, it appeared as though an invisible veil had unknowingly covered the city.
Let alone sending out messages, even communicating with the Information World had become impossible.
The War God was growing increasingly anxious. He could sense that the aura within the pavilion was constantly growing stronger.
If they didn’t act quickly and the slumbering being truly awakened, both him and everyone else would find themselves in a grave situation.
After some hesitation, the War God no longer held back.
He glanced at the Cosmos Emperor and Heaven Emperor. His mind stirred as he used his consciousness to communicate with them.
The two paused for a brief moment. Then, they nodded their heads subtly, seemingly agreeing with his proposal.
The ancient cultivators didn’t notice their secret communication.
However, they soon faced its consequences.
Only a few moments later, all the powerhouses of the present Era surged with an astonishing momentum.
A giant crimson halberd appeared in the War God’s hands.
A sea of stars surrounded the Cosmos Emperor.
The Heaven Emperor’s body grew larger, giving one the illusion he was as big as the ancient city.
They were not the only ones.
Every Emperor used the methods at their disposal.
Light. Physical strength. Weapons.
In unison, they all burst out with force.
The ancient cultivators were caught off guard, having never expected their sudden outburst.
Although with their power, they managed to suppress their attacks and escape unscathed, that had given their opponents a loophole to exploit.
The War God took advantage of their momentary halt.
Without any hesitation, his figure appeared above the Heavenly Armor Pavilion, and he struck out.
He didn’t use his physical strength, nor did he wield his signature crimson halberd.
Instead, a strange mechanical creation appeared in his right hand.
It resembled both a gun and a long cannon, being the futuristic version of both. As his power poured into its body, the entire gun began to shake violently.
A terrifying momentum erupted from it, sweeping through the surroundings.
Then...
A thunderous boom echoed.
A small stream of light fired out of the gun’s barrel.
It looked ordinary. Barely the size of a human finger.
Yet the space along its trajectory was instantly torn apart.
When it finally appeared near the Heavenly Armor Pavilion, the entire building started to shake from its momentum alone.
Countless patterns flashed along its walls. The formations activated on their own, trying to stop it from advancing any further.
Unfortunately, they stood no chance.
Within a few moments, all the patterns’ brilliance had dimmed before they completely faded away.
The stream of light continued unabated, landing on the building and tearing a large hole in its walls.
A dark void was revealed hidden behind it.
With the War God’s strength, he was able to see the countless display cases inside that void.
At the same time, he witnessed the powerhouses of the Apex Civilizations being hunted by the Mechanical Race.
The War God’s expression remained ruthless despite seeing the fresh blood of his fellow humans.
He had no time to pay attention.
His gaze soon locked onto a certain place, where a giant revolving sphere could be found.
It stood alone, though the auras of several beings could be sensed around it.
They were all dead.
Had it not been for his strength, he wouldn’t have been able to see through the clues.
The War God realized what was happening. He moved his eyes past the sphere, focusing on the spatial passage behind it.
Then, just like before, he didn’t hesitate. He raised the mechanical creation in his hand and fired several more shots.
Continuous booming sounds rang out.
The beams of light whistled through the dark void, plunging it in their own brilliance.
Upon approaching the mechanical sphere, this mechanical obstacle reacted.
Streams of information emerged, seemingly wanting to stop the light and erase it from existence.
But before it could do so, the figure of a young woman materialized above the beams.
If one looked at her, they would find that she bore a faint resemblance to Liora, as though the two were distant relatives.
The young woman casually pointed forward.
The mechanical sphere instantly stopped revolving, as though accepting her command.
Enormous fractures appeared all over its surface.
Then, with a bang, it burst apart.
The woman’s phantom slowly disappeared.
Her intervention, however, had already paved the way for the beams of light.
Not only did they pass through the spatial passage, reaching the second floor where the library was located, but upon reaching there, they dug into an ever deeper space layer.
Before anyone could react, they had dug into the third floor.
More precisely, the secret realm that housed the fortress.
The aura of the beams shocked the unsuspecting cultivators. Although giant formations emerged and suppressed the impact, the weaker among them were caught in the aftermath, perishing under the power of the beams of light.
The cultivators were shocked, as were the people in the outside world.
Whether it was the War God, the Cosmos Emperor, or the Heaven Emperor, their gazes pierced through the Heavenly Armor Pavilion and reached the secret realm.
Upon seeing the thousands of cultivator troops, their pupils contracted.
