Evolution Online: My 10,000× Reward System Multiplies Everything

Chapter 108: Akkad?! Did humanity really steal their planet?

"Sir, we sold off everything in no time. Here’s the cash we made, and I’ll transfer you all the Evolution Points now." The frail man whom Kaelen chose to supervise his market said and immediately made the transfer to Kaelen’s wallet address.

[You have received 10,000 Evolution Points]

[10,000× Reward Multiplier Triggered...]

[You have received 100,000,000 Evolution Points]

"10,000, huh." Kaelen mumbled to himself.

Those goons were definitely making thousands of Evolution Points each day by selling meat at twice the market price.

An average player could only dream of making even half that amount in a day.

Kaelen counted the cash, and it was a little over 700 dollars.

"Not bad."

Kaelen raised his head to look at the four men.

"So, how do you want to be paid? Cash or Evolution Points?" he asked.

"Evolution Points," the men replied without hesitation.

It turned out Evolution Online wasn’t completely declining in active users. Unlike Awakeners, these people didn’t have the luxury of becoming Hunters inside the Stronghold and could rely on the game to give them the sliver of an opportunity to awaken.

"Alright then." Kaelen collected their wallet addresses and made a transfer of 2,000 Evolution Points to each and every one of them.

The moment their eyes saw the amount, they froze on the spot.

"S-Sir, even if it’s for the four of us to share, this is still too much," the frail supervisor said.

"Share? What are you talking about? I sent everyone their own share. That’s just yours."

His eyes immediately widened in surprise, and he exchanged glances with the other men, whose faces mirrored his expression.

They immediately fell to their knees and grabbed the hem of Kaelen’s clothes.

"T-Thank you so much, sir."

"We truly appreciate your kindness."

"Thank you so much."

The men cried out.

"W-What?" Kaelen was taken aback by the men’s extreme reaction. "What are you doing? It’s only 2,000 Evolution Points..." Kaelen suddenly trailed off.

2,000 Evolution Points.

A very insignificant amount to Kaelen, yet it might be the greatest amount these men had ever come across at once.

It wasn’t just in the slums. Even Awakeners inside the Stronghold struggled to make this much, and only those in prominent guilds who were privileged with top hunting spots and occasional dungeon diving made enough to ascend every now and then.

Yet, here was Kaelen. Tier 41, with over 170 trillion Evolution Points accumulated in his balance.

Even then, he wasn’t satisfied. Not because of greed, but because it was simply insufficient to stand up against mysterious figures pulling humanity’s strings from the shadows.

Kaelen had already confirmed Evolution Online was real. Every world in it was real. Every danger in it was real.

He already had his speculations about what Evolution Online truly was. Though he didn’t want to believe it, if Evolution Online was just a tutorial for the real global descent, then...

A thought suddenly flashed across Kaelen’s mind, and his eyes widened in surprise.

Why had he never thought of it before?!

He immediately excused himself from the men and walked into a shadowy corner where no eyes could see him. He inhaled deeply before willing himself into Evolution Online.

[Welcome back to Evolution Online]

Evolve. Conquer. Dominate.

SERVER OPENS IN10... 9... 8...

The texts appeared before his eyes just like his system prompts, and his vision swam.

[Do you wish to explore other worlds?]

Kaelen found himself standing in a strange space with the prompts expanded in front of him like an invisible screen.

"...Yes."

As soon as those words left Kaelen’s lips, he wasn’t immediately transported out of the space, but the prompt changed instead to a long list of world selections Kaelen could explore and choose from.

The total number of available worlds recorded at the top was exactly [495].

Evolution Online.

A world of a thousand races... had been reduced by half the number of worlds it should hold.

But this wasn’t what Kaelen was here for.

There was no search bar, but luckily, the worlds were arranged in numerical alphabetical order. So Kaelen swiped down to the letter E.

E for Earth.

That’s right.

If Evolution Online was truly real and consisted of a thousand worlds across the universe, shouldn’t Earth, one of the worlds where the game was made available, be displayed on the list?

Kaelen stopped himself right as he arrived at the letter E and spent the next few minutes going over the worlds that began with the letter.

"..."

After looking through the list over and over again, Kaelen was yet to find his world.

Planet Earth was not on the list.

Kaelen paused to think for a moment.

He had a couple of theories in mind.

It was either Earth wasn’t registered as Earth in the game, or it wasn’t registered in the game at all.

If it were the latter, then that explained why humanity could invade and conquer other worlds, while Earth was yet to face its first actual invasion that wasn’t beast waves.

It made sense and almost convinced Kaelen. But he chose to verify his first theory before coming to any conclusion, and that was going through every single one of the 495 worlds registered on the list.

Luckily, the description of every world was designed as a background image in each world’s option, so all Kaelen needed to do was find the blue and green planet.

He swiped back to the top of the list, deciding to start from the top once again, but the moment he set his eyes on the first world on the list, he froze.

The blue and green world was the number one planet on the list.

Except it wasn’t registered as Earth... or Terra.

It began with the letter A.

Akkad.

"What...?"

A memory suddenly resurfaced in Kaelen’s thoughts at that moment, making his eyes widen in surprise and disbelief.

It was the memory of the two Akkadian women he came across in the wasteland. Most importantly, it was the words of one of the women he recalled at that moment.

***

"We’re Akkadians."

"We’re an enemy to humanity for betraying our kind and stealing our planet."

***

"Was she telling the truth? Did humanity really steal their planet?"

What the hell is going on?!
