Evolution Online: My 10,000× Reward System Multiplies Everything
Chapter 11: Lightning Damage amplified by 10,000×Kaelen was the first to detect the awakening of the dragon.
He detected when it first stirred after the battle became so intense that it forced the beast underground out of hibernation. But he didn’t care.
He couldn’t care less and only felt joy and excitement at rage-baiting the dragon into awakening because, at that point, not only was he close to upgrading all his attributes to Level 400, officially hitting the bottleneck for Tier 4 Lifeforms and having to perform another evolution to Tier 5 that would cost him 10,000,000 Evolution Points.
Also, attributing a dragon’s known strengths, he anticipated the battle by purchasing a few more evolution attributes to back himself up.
[Hardened Nucleus: Encases the core in crystalline armor to prevent instant-death critical hits.]
[Gilded Mirror: Evolves a crystalline, reflective outer glaze designed specifically to bounce magic spells back at the caster.]
[Volt Slime: Changes the liquid property to store and amplify electrical currents, turning the slime into a walking stun-hazard.]
[Vortex Blade: Evolves internal rotational currents, allowing the slime to spin its entire mass at high velocities to act like a living, shredding drill.]
As the dragon burrowed out of the dormant volcano, disrupting the entire battlefield with its roar and sheer mass, Kaelen was given a breather to start dumping the accumulated Evolution Points into upgrading every one of his evolution attributes, including the newly purchased ones, to Level 400.
He didn’t care at that moment about the irresponsible splurge of millions of Evolution Points because, with his next act, he was going to make them back ten thousand times over.
As the colossal dragon rose to the peak of the mountain, overlooking the insects that had disturbed its sleep, it roared in anger as it charged up a burst of flames in its throat.
Instead of running away, Kaelen charged towards it as he covered the entire area with his mist. But this time, he didn’t stop at just the mountain forest area, but spread it far and wide, consuming everything within the terrain with his white mist. Just as the dragon lowered its head to destroy everything in its path, the evolution notification rang in his vision.
[You have reached the strength cap for Tier 4 Lifeforms.]
[Do you wish to spend 10,000,000 Evolution Points to ascend to Tier 5?]
"Ascend!"
KABOOM—!!!
In an instant, the crimson-dark flames covered the entire map, swallowing everything as far as Kaelen’s mist had spread, erasing everything in their path.
There were no remnants afterward, as everything turned to ash, and all players within that map were forcibly logged out immediately with a kill notification.
As the smoke cleared, there were two beasts left standing in the ruins, with one heavily scarred from the flame burst.
The dragon roared and thrashed around in rage and agony. That was because, of the two beasts left standing... it was the slime that came out unscathed.
[You have aided the Goddess of Light in cleansing the Abyss!]
[10,000× Reward Multiplier Triggered...]
[You have received 1,000,000,000 Evolution Points.]
"ROAR—!!!"
The dragon roared in rage as it stared at the slime—the most insignificant creature against the most powerful—that had somehow caused it pain and remained unscathed.
It didn’t speak, but its eyes said it all. All it wanted to know... was how?!
Kaelen let out a soft chuckle as he looked up at the dragon like it was the insignificant one.
"Did you really think your flames could burn on that scale?" he said with a mocking smile.
[Miasma Slime: Alters the boiling point, constantly evaporating the outer layer into a localized cloud of toxic, paralyzing, or highly flammable gas.]
After countless upgrades, the evolution attribute he used to make white mist had leveled up quite a bit. And Kaelen knew this very well, which was why he went all out spreading the mist across the entire map.
It was never to obscure the dragon’s vision. It was simply to benefit from the chaos by triggering a chemical reaction the second the dragon’s flames came into contact with the highly flammable white mist, amplifying its damage and spreading it across the terrain, when the second prepared attribute came into action.
[Gilded Mirror: Evolves a crystalline, reflective outer glaze designed specifically to bounce magic spells back at the caster.]
This was just one of the few evolution attributes he had purchased beforehand.
It was common knowledge that dragons were mythical beasts, and their flames were more than just a breath of fire. They were strongly anchored by the potent mana in the dragon’s core, which made the dragon classified as a mythical beast.
But at Tier 5, with the [Gilded Mirror] a bit over Level 400, against a well-known Tier-9 mythical beast, it still shouldn’t have been capable of reflecting the dragon’s flame damage.
But that too—the part about the dragon being Tier 9—wasn’t exactly accurate. Because at Tier 5, Kaelen could confidently tell the dragon barely had the strength of a Tier 8 beast. And that was because it had been forcibly woken up from hibernation, and just like black bears, Kaelen was certain the longer the dragon stayed awake, the higher the risk of it damaging its internal core.
In summary, Kaelen had gambled his life on these speculations and successfully reflected the dragon’s flame damage right back at its face. At peak strength, it shouldn’t have left a scratch on the dragon’s scales. But too bad the dragon had come across Kaelen.
The dragon roared in rage after being talked down to by an insignificant creature such as a slime, but that was just what Kaelen wanted. Because the rewards for the destruction of the map didn’t just go to him. The system calculated it as a combined effort and rewarded both sides equally—without the 10,000× Multiplier, that is.
But Kaelen knew that if the dragon paused to think with a clear head, it would probably use the massive Evolution Points to boost its strength, making it undefeatable. And Kaelen couldn’t let that happen.
He threw his inventory open, scanning it quickly and pulling out an item.
Heavenly Retribution Skill Book (Legendary)
Kaelen might not be able to learn the skill, but he knew of a hack to use it... even if it was just once.
Tear—
He ripped the Legendary Skill Book apart.
The heavens split open.
High-voltage lightning crashed down upon the mountain, striking both Kaelen and the dragon simultaneously.
Except one, once again... remained unscathed.
