Kaelen decided it was better to get to safety first before trying his luck. He might have over 60 billion evolution points, and might’ve made half a billion in just a few minutes, but losing a Tier due to his recklessness would cost him tens of billions to bounce back to Tier 9.

The formless nightmare ahead, which turned every living thing it touched into a pile of bones, was only a few hundred metres away from him now and was approaching faster than his eyes could keep track of. So Kaelen quickly activated [Titan Burst] and shot forward like a cannon, running after the two mysterious women ahead of the horde.

The horde split into groups at intervals, running in herds in various directions. All away from the shadow that was only a few metres away from catching up to Kaelen.

Kaelen could tell this wasn’t their first rodeo. Neither was it a first for the two mysterious women, making their identity even more mysterious, and giving Kaelen more reason to catch up with them.

They weren’t teleporting now, and were instead running on foot, jumping from the back of one large beast to the other.

The shadow was quickly catching up behind, and had devoured at least forty percent of the initial horde’s numbers in just a few minutes. If their safe haven wasn’t around the corner anytime soon, none of them would still be alive in the next few minutes.

That was when Kaelen saw it. Monoliths positioned like a gate before a creek in the mountains up ahead. The beast horde ran even faster upon spotting it, confirming Kaelen’s suspicion.

Their safe haven was behind that gate.

But there was something about the gate that, just staring at it alone sent chills down Kaelen’s spine. He found that strange energy familiar. Like he’d come in contact with something like it before.

Kaelen was yet to wrap his head around it, when his hairs stood on end, and he looked over his shoulder to see the nightmare shadow that covered the entire wasteland for as far as his eyes could see, bringing destruction upon everything it touched.

It was an arm’s length away from Kaelen now, and everything else behind him was gone, turned into piles of bones that, on closer inspection, rattled and rose to their feet like the living dead.

"Just what is that thing?" he thought calmly to himself, before shooting forward at full speed just before the nightmare shadow could consume him.

He hadn’t been running at his full speed, as he was following the horde to take him to their safe haven, and couldn’t run ahead of them.

At full speed, Kaelen crossed the entire horde ahead of him in an instant, running past the mysterious women, and appearing before the monoliths, when he paused.

He was way ahead of the horde now, and could enter if he decided to... but he had unfinished business to do.

As Kaelen thought that, he slowly turned around to face the horde.

He didn’t move and simply locked eyes with someone in the horde. The first batch of beasts arrived and ran past him, running into safety. The second batch ran across him also, running into safety. But Kaelen was yet to move.

He waited as several beasts ran across him and dove into their safe haven at the last minute. Until it was finally the turn of the mysterious women and their beast ride, who didn’t mind being used as a mode of transport as long as they got to safety.

That was when Kaelen finally moved.

"Infinite Mana."

Of all the skills Kaelen had acquired over his days in Evolution Online, SSS-rank Infinite Mana had become his favourite because it was simply the most versatile.

With sufficient mana, even the most basic of magic skills became terrifying.

But this time, Kaelen wasn’t making use of any registered skill. He was simply manipulating the natural elements of the universe to create his desired results.

"Stone wall."

The ground vibrated once, before stone ridges began rising from the earth, surrounding the monoliths and every gap behind them that led into the creek in the mountains.

He watched as the women’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief as Kaelen slowly closed the entrance to the safe haven.

Just as they arrived before the stone ridges, Kaelen had sealed it shut, before making a small window in the middle where he could look out from.

The wild beasts frantically charged into the wall, trying to break it down, but it didn’t budge. And the two women riding them were instantly thrown off their backs in a fit of fear and rage as the beasts immediately diverted, planning to switch directions.

It was already too late for them, and the women knew well enough to run up to the wall where Kaelen was calmly staring at them through his window.

"What do you think you’re doing? Let us in immediately." The woman with the dark purple hair said with fear written all over her face. Fear Kaelen didn’t see on their faces when he wiped out the entire map.

He found it amusing.

This endgame beast was truly something.

"Why should I?" he asked coldly.

"Are you just going to stand there and watch us die here? Why are humans this heartless?" she roared in rage.

Humans?

Kaelen laughed coldly. "Heartless? You tried to kill me, completely unprovoked. And now you think I’d let any of you leave here alive?"

"I would’ve loved to kill you with my own hands. But I’m curious to see how that beast does it."

"Do you really think it’ll end with killing us? This is only the beginning. What is waiting for your kind is much worse than you imagine—" the woman was still saying through gritted teeth when Kaelen slowly began closing his window as the nightmare shadow approached even faster.

"W-Wait, wait. What do you want in exchange for our lives?" The woman panicked and asked.

"Cici, don’t." The white-haired woman, who had been silent ever since, immediately spoke up.

’She’s willing to give her life away rather than negotiate with the enemy?’

Interesting.

That means the information was worthwhile.

"Aria, so you seriously want us to die out here?"

"She’s right." Kaelen suddenly said, drawing the attention of the two conflicting women. "You have only a few seconds before that thing catches up to you. If you tell me everything I need to know, then I might consider letting y’all in." Kaelen said with a mischievous smile.

"We won’t get anything out of us—" the white-haired woman was saying when Kaelen interrupted her.

"First question: Who are you, and why did you try to kill me?" he asked, and without bothering with the white-haired woman, he shifted his gaze to the purple-haired lady.

The woman bit her lips so hard as she looked down, refusing to look at her ally, but instead looked over her shoulder at the looming danger.

"We’re Akkadians." She immediately blurted.

"Cici?!"

"We’re an enemy to humanity for betraying our kind and stealing our planet." The woman said amidst the warning of her ally.

Kaelen stared at the two women in silence, before he sighed in exasperation and began closing the window once more.

"W-Wait. What are you doing? I answered your questions." The woman banged her delicate fist on the stone ridge.

"And I’m not falling for your bullshit story." Kaelen said without batting an eyelid.

"I swear, I’m not lying. I told you the truth, you bastard, you tricked us!" the woman yelled.

"Wait, she’s telling the truth." The white-haired woman suddenly spoke, making Kaelen pause for a moment. But before he could say anything, the white-haired woman spoke again.

"You’re humanity’s strongest warrior, aren’t you?" she asked as she pulled away the scarf covering her neck.

"Then you should recognize this." She said as the small, almost invisible glowing runic symbols strewn across her skin from neck down were revealed.

"This is..."

Kaelen immediately recognized the familiar symbols from Black Rose’s mysterious race.

And somehow, a race created in Evolution Online MMORPG... was now standing before him.
