[10,000× Reward Multiplier Triggered...]
[Shadow Monarch has been upgraded to Nameless Shadow God]
Kaelen’s eyes widened in surprise on seeing the rank of the loot he obtained from the nightmare shadow. Not a single Mythic Tier loot in sight, and it was comprised of Divines and two Primordial Tier loots?!
The same Primordial Tier loot he didn’t know existed only a few days ago. He now had three in his possession.
On seeing the first Primordial Tier loot, Kaelen was a bit disappointed. Unlike the Primordial staff that was a great match for his Infinite Mana Talent and every other ability that required mana, the Shadow Scythe was basically useless to him, as not only could he not make use of it as a Slime in-game, he also couldn’t make use of it playing the role of a mage in real life.
This didn’t mean it was entirely useless to him, though. It could still serve as a powerful evolution points boost if Kaelen were to devour it.
He was also curious to know how many evolution points a Primordial Tier item could give him.
A billion?
One trillion?!
There was only one way to find out.
He quickly shifted his gaze to the second Primordial Tier loot in the bundle, and on seeing it was a skill book, Kaelen was instantly excited. He didn’t hesitate to click on its description.
[World Devourer (Primordial): A forbidden technique capable of devouring the energy, matter, and essence of everything within its reach.]
Kaelen stared at the description blankly before closing it and moving on to the next item without a word.
This was the same skill the nightmare shadow had used to consume everything in its path, except this one didn’t come with the undead rising from the bones of those it devoured. And that... made it useless to Kaelen. Because that was exactly what his (Mythic) Devourer Class could do.
To everyone else, these items would be the most priceless items they’d ever attained. But to Kaelen, they were only going to serve as an evolution points boost now that he couldn’t make use of either of them.
The Divine Tier loots were less exciting. There was the Nightmare Bow, the Calamity Mantle Armour, the Cursed Eye that was no different from his [Sharp Senses], the Shadow Step Skill Book...
"Shadow Step Skill Book?" Kaelen paused and clicked on the description.
[Shadow Step (Divine): Allows the user to travel between shadows, instantly crossing the distance between them.]
The description was brief, but on point.
Kaelen was impressed by this one. If he had this skill during the battle with the Akkadians, he could easily track and follow them everywhere they went in an instant. He could’ve killed them much easier than having to blow up the entire map, from which they emerged alive and unscathed for some reason.
He didn’t have time to think about it before, but the scale of his Formless Dragon Sword Art had gone beyond the distance of their teleportation skill, making him wonder how they survived the attack in the end.
Kaelen shook his head as he pushed the thought to the back of his mind and focused on the last item on the loot bundle.
[Hell’s Domain (Divine): Creates a domain that distorts the senses of all living beings within it, turning their greatest fears into tangible threats.]
Of course, another ability he already had. The [Miasma Slime] distorted the senses of everyone in it as well, and though it didn’t technically turn their greatest fears into tangible threats, in every mist he created, Kaelen became their greatest fear and far more dangerous than just tangible threats. And he just loved blowing things up after, making the Divine Skill Book another unusable item in the loot bundle.
Seven overpowered items in the loot bundle, and only one ended up being useful to Kaelen. And though he was interested in the Shadow Step Skill Book, he felt that, for some reason, even that would become unusable for him real soon.
This made Kaelen aware of how powerful he was and how overpowered his abilities were. But he still wasn’t satisfied, because Kaelen was absolutely certain that no matter how powerful a man was, there’s always someone out there stronger than him.
Kaelen didn’t just want to be strong. He wanted to be that man out there, the one who was stronger than the strongest man.
He finally shifted his attention to the last notification in the list, and the upgraded version of the extracted skill from the nightmare shadow.
[Do you wish to spend 999,999,999 Evolution Points to learn this skill?]
Kaelen squinted his eyes at the numbers.
"Do they think I’m stupid? I can clearly see that’s one billion evolution points, you dumb... tsk." Kaelen clicked his tongue in annoyance.
Stealing so much just to learn a skill?
How is this game even playable for normal people without a system?
"Wait... have I been paying more because of the upgraded skills and attributes?"
This can’t be the price for the original skill.
But did that mean he was paying 10,000× the original price for every upgraded skill and attribute?
Was that also true for every evolution benchmark?!
[You have spent one billion evolution points to learn the Primordial-Tier Skill: Nameless Shadow God]
"Primordial-Tier?"
[Nameless Shadow God (Primordial): Transforms the user into an existence of pure shadow, granting absolute control over their shadow, allowing them to manifest anywhere darkness exists and raise the fallen as immortal shadows under their command.]
As Kaelen read the description, a surge of information suddenly rushed into his head, and his eyes widened in surprise.
The description was only the tip of the iceberg, and it could do way more than it said. The Primordial skill gave Kaelen absolute dominion over shadows, that Kaelen could even do this...
The shadow under his feet suddenly moved and crawled up the seat beside him, before transforming into a perfect copy of Kaelen that looked back at him like a reflection in the mirror.
Kaelen had absolute control over it and could make it do whatever he wanted, including fighting. Though it didn’t have any of Kaelen’s skills or attribute set, it inherited fifty percent of his raw strength.
At a single thought, Kaelen was staring back at himself now, after seamlessly swapping places with his shadow. To be sure it wasn’t possessing his real body, he dissolved it back to the shadow under his feet, and a grin spread across his face.
The ability was a game changer, especially for the expedition and what he planned for it that’d ensure he’d be leaving the ruins with no less than a trillion evolution points, or even more.
Kaelen stared out the window at that moment and spotted the great walls of Stronghold 1 coming into view, his expression turning cold.
When a thought suddenly crossed his mind, Kaelen realized the Nameless Shadow God skill could also let him travel between shadows and cross distances in an instant, completely replacing the need for the (Divine) Shadow Step Skill Book.
The seventh and final loot from the nightmare shadow had just become useless.
Kaelen glanced at the Shadow Step Skill Books for a moment, before tossing them into the pile of dust-collecting loot in his inventory.
"Absolute trash!"
