Evolution Online: My 10,000× Reward System Multiplies Everything
Chapter 72: My Shadow Summons Evolves 10,000× Faster!Kaelen felt his world go dark for a moment, before it expanded to the view of a vast room with multiple doors lining the walls. But across the floor were the carcasses of beasts that had been punched through by his shadow clone.
He couldn’t tell the evolution realm of these beasts now that they were dead, but he was certain they were strong. Even at that, his shadow clone with fifty percent of his strength and no weapons or abilities was still able to deal with them like a hardcore grinder in hell mode.
A series of kill notifications instantly flashed across his vision, but Kaelen swiped them away without taking a look.
Earlier, when Black Rose had caught up to him and Kaelen used his [Sharp Senses], he realized his perception couldn’t go beyond the bronze door, which was why he chose to leave while engaging with the woman just enough to distract her from his detached shadow slipping under the bronze door.
She didn’t notice a thing, and neither did the beasts in the room. Because after all, it was only a shadow without a consciousness.
That was enough for Kaelen to scout the room and mark the positions of all the beasts, before he transformed the shadow into a clone and took them by surprise, all while mining diligently under Black Rose’s watch.
He ran his eyes across the room now, which didn’t look like a proper floor, but instead a ’warm-up’ before the players advanced to the actual next level. That explained the lack of any mini-boss in the room.
With only fifty percent of his strength, his shadow was able to take out this pretend floor... now imagine how much firepower an entire shadow army could bring Kaelen.
Under his command, the lamps in the room flickered violently as dark shadows spread across the floor of the room, covering the entire beasts’ carcasses, and giving Kaelen the same feeling he felt when he was in his World Authority Fragments.
It was the feeling of supremacy.
"Infinite Mana..."
Boom—
A shockwave of dense mana exploded from his chest, bouncing off the walls of the room, and further strengthening his connection to the shadows of the beasts.
He could raise them from the dead using just the Nameless Shadow God abilities. But he wanted to see the difference it made awakening these creatures with the same energy that gave birth to their existence.
He spread his arms out as his lips slowly parted, before a single word escaped his throat.
"Arise!"
Swoosh—!!!
The beasts on the floor began twitching as Kaelen’s shadow was absorbed by their bodies, turning their flesh into shadow. As they rose to their feet, instead of standing on their forelegs like the beasts they were, Kaelen was surprised to see them transforming into humanoids with beast heads, towering over their initial heights.
As they fully formed, standing tall, a shadow weapon formed in their grips.
Thud.
They all dropped to their knees as one, and lowered their heads at Kaelen without a word.
Kaelen stood there for a moment, admiring his summons in pleasant surprise.
His lips slowly curled up, as he could tell, unlike his shadow, that not only did these beasts inherit their full strength, but they could evolve as well as independent beasts.
He shifted his attention to the multiple doors that lined the room. They looked so identical that Kaelen couldn’t tell which one the Emperor’s advance team had gone through after witnessing his carnage.
He suspected each of the doors led to an alternate next level, unlike that prep floor. But what he couldn’t tell was whether he would be running into the Emperor’s advance team or not. So he chose to do a headcount on his shadow summons, in order to split them up to take different doors.
But before he could even start counting, a number suddenly floated in his thoughts, and he immediately knew it was the accurate number of his shadow summons.
"48."
There were more doors than his shadow summons, and sending them independently didn’t sound like a concrete plan. So he split them into four groups of twelve warriors, and randomly chose four doors, commanding them to march forward and kill everything in their path.
Then he finally chose a door for himself and stepped through it.
"Roarrr!!"
The first thing that greeted Kaelen as soon as his vision cleared was the maw of a wild beast, spread wide and revealing its row of razor-sharp canines.
The attack caught him completely off guard, but before the beast could snap its maw around his face, it was instead met with a thick rubbery surface that, instead of its teeth sinking into, caused a sharp pain to shoot throughout its mouth as its jaw was instantly paralyzed. And due to its momentum, it couldn’t stop itself in time before it charged straight into the slime standing on its path, when its vision went dark as it evaporated into nothingness, before it could even catch a glimpse of the Slime’s core.
"...Damn."
[You have killed the unfortunate guardian of the lost temple]
[10,000× Reward Multiplier Triggered...]
[You have received 1,000,000 Evolution Points]
Kaelen was still surprised at the effectiveness of the Primordial Plague Gland, as it was only now he finally understood the Primordial tag before its name, when the system kill notification that flashed across his vision made him pause.
"One million?"
One million evolution points for a single kill?!
This was the highest amount Kaelen had ever received for a small kill.
He wasn’t even anywhere near the center of the ruins or the boss room, and was already making one million evolution points per kill.
That was when he remembered the series of kill notifications from his shadow clone he dismissed, and he immediately went back to check the notifications again.
Out of the forty-eight kills, the lowest evolution points received was 600,000. More than that of any amount he made hunting in the jungle.
The highest was 1,500,000, bringing Kaelen up 40,000,000 evolution points in a few minutes through his shadow clone, while he was casually mining with Black Rose.
Now Kaelen had deployed 43 of them at their peak strength... how much more would he be making per minute?
That was when he remembered something vital he overlooked initially.
He had the 10,000× Reward Multiplier, which was naturally extended to his own shadow clone. But did the system also work with his shadow summons, or would they bring in the normal evolution points for a kill without the 10,000× Multiplier?
[Your Shadow Summon has slain a Three-headed Serpent.]
Kaelen immediately broke out into a smile on reading the first line of the notification that flashed across his vision at that moment. This was because he was absolutely certain there was no three-headed serpent in those ruins.
[10,000× Reward Multiplier Triggered...]
[You have received 1,200,000 Evolution Points]
Now not only could Kaelen farm evolution points passively, but his Shadow Summons could also evolve 10,000× faster.
