"W-Wait, don’t kill me—please," the dragon kin leader immediately raised her hand as Kaelen approached her.

"How did you get this?" Kaelen asked with a serious expression.

"That’s... a vitality potion." The leader said like she was both surprised and confused that Kaelen didn’t know what it was.

"I know it’s a health potion. I asked how you got it?"

The dragon kin leader paused for a moment to stare at Kaelen like she was wondering if he was pulling her leg or genuinely uninformed.

"We have a system-assisted gourmet for crafting alchemical potions and pills like that. I-I thought you otherworlders should have that as well."

It was Kaelen’s turn to pause and stare at the woman. "Why do you keep on saying otherworlders? What do you know about players?" He asked with a serious expression.

"Players? Is that the name of your race?" She asked, but on seeing Kaelen’s blank expression, she quickly explained. "We’re no different from you. We can enter this evolution realm to get stronger and return when we want, just like you... right?" She said with a strange accent.

Kaelen didn’t say a word and simply stood there as he tried to digest all the information he’d just heard. It didn’t seem like she was lying, and these people could actually log in and log out like players. Except they didn’t know the concept of players... or video games.

"You mean you can enter and leave without any equipment like a gaming set?" He asked for clarity.

"Go-blin sect...? No. We not goblins." She said with difficulty and pointed to herself. "Drakari." Then pointed to him. "Player."

She repeated the gesture one more time to make Kaelen understand her race was ’Drakari’ like his was Player—or so she thought.

Kaelen almost face-palmed, but he was certain now. His speculations were right. These people could enter and leave this world like it was real and not some cutting-edge elaborate game.

"If you can enter and leave at will, why haven’t you left already?" Kaelen asked suspiciously.

Was she waiting to be killed?

"Doesn’t work when in combat..." she said and hesitated. "I can only leave when there’s no danger. Danger goes, I go."

’Oh? I think that’s how it works for players as well,’ he mused to himself.

He wasn’t certain because he had never been in a situation where he had to log out to save his life.

He paused to think for a moment. He didn’t have any more questions for this woman and couldn’t get the vitality potion out of her because apparently the game was cheating humanity by not giving them that option.

But coming to think of it, Evolution Online’s base world was basically an animal kingdom with over a thousand races, where the main objective was to evolve, conquer, and dominate as beasts. It would be strange to suddenly see an elephant pull out a health potion mid-battle to drink.

"One last question before I have to kill you," Kaelen said bluntly.

It wasn’t him being villainous or anything. She was clearly the boss of that floor, and Kaelen couldn’t advance any further without killing the floor boss first.

"No-no-no, you don’t have to kill me. I can show you a path that bypasses all the other floors and takes you to the boss floor if you promise not to kill me."

Kaelen was surprised. A secret passage to the boss room?

That was perfect.

If Kaelen could bypass all the floors now, get to the boss room, and challenge the final boss sooner, he could be able to defeat it before the emperor and the advance team arrived. Then, after they challenged him next, he could come back to the lower floors to retrieve them.

"I’ll have to be convinced by your answer to my last question first," Kaelen said and paused. "What’s at the top?"

"I need the name of the final boss, down to the special item I’ll be getting if I defeat it."

"It’s..." The woman paused to look him in the eye with a serious expression. "A dragon."

"..."

"A what?" Kaelen asked with a raised brow.

He had been so excited about the final boss, but by the woman’s dead expression. Hearing it was a dragon—another one—his excitement faded.

"I-I’m telling the truth." The woman quickly clarified on seeing Kaelen’s lack of reaction.

"I know you’re telling the truth. That’s why I’m disappointed. I’ve killed one before, and I have 10,000 incubating... somewhere."

’I might have to check on them after this.’

"W-What? No. This is not your dragon. Your 10,000 dragons can’t help you. This one’s different."

’Now we’re talking.’

"How so?"

"Only one man has defeated one of its kind before, and barely survived, taking its golden egg as his trophy. That golden egg was the dragon prince, and the Primordial Elder Dragon killed ten years ago was the dragon queen."

"Primordial?" Kaelen’s expression became serious.

He had just discovered there was a Tier above the Divine, and it was the Primordial Tier. A Tier so rare he’d only come across six in total, and knew firsthand how powerful one of them could be.

Now, he was up against an actual Primordial beast.

"Primordial?" The woman repeated after him and made a sound that came off as an amused laugh.

"What you’ll be facing at the top is not a Primordial Elder Dragon. It’s a Supreme Elder Dragon.

"You’ll not just be challenging a Supreme Elder Dragon; you’ll be challenging an angry one that lost its queen and son to your kind. And Elder Dragons are known for their vengeful spirit and ability to track down the blood scent of their enemies across the world."

"Wait..." Kaelen stopped her.

He had so many questions. Not only was he hearing a new term, ’Supreme Elder Dragon,’ but he was just learning that his father had killed this innocent dragon’s wife and stole their unborn child. And what now? The dragon could track down their enemies through blood scent?

Didn’t that mean the dragon already knew Kaelen was here?

His father’s blood flowed through his veins as well, meaning the dragon might mistake him for his father and take out its anger on his innocent soul, making the final battle even more dreadful for Kaelen.

"What’s the difference between a Primordial Elder Dragon and a Supreme Elder Dragon?" Kaelen asked after a moment of digesting the information.

The dragon woman stared at him blankly for a moment before she finally said, "Do your council of elders not teach you anything about this world? Supreme is the realm above Primordial, and Transcendant is the realm above Supreme... that’s the treasure you get if you can slay the Supreme Elder Dragon."
