Kaelen jumped out of the way just in time as the spearhead was embedded deep in the ground, and he quickly snapped his head in the direction of the enemy, only to see a strange humanoid figure standing at the top of the fallen building.

Then another appeared, and another.

Before Kaelen could count, six figures were already surrounding him, wielding different weapons.

They didn’t look like beasts, and Kaelen’s first thought was that they were players. But he quickly dismissed that thought as he got a closer look at the figures.

They looked no different from humanoids, except the one thing that gave them away was the thick reptilian tails behind their backs. That was when he caught the light reflecting off their scales and immediately came to the conclusion that this was a reptilian race. Either from the lizard family... or the dragon family.

But most importantly, they weren’t players—at least not the ones he knew of.

"Is that a Slime?" One of them asked with a hoarse voice.

"Don’t be fooled by its appearance." At that moment, a feminine figure stepped out of the shadows, making them seven in number. "It’s probably the one behind the destruction of Lord Vagrant’s domain, and also behind these abominations." She said as she stepped into the light, revealing herself.

All Kaelen could say on seeing her was that she was a dragon woman. Scales covered the backs of her arms and legs, while her abdomen and her face looked like the only soft spots on her body.

The fact that they were speaking and wearing armor as well proved they were intelligent beings.

"If you’re here because I took your treasure boxes, I’ll tell you now that I won’t be giving them back." Kaelen said calmly, making the lady’s lips twitch.

"It talks?" One of the dragon kin asked in surprise.

"Of course it talks." The leader snapped at him before she turned back to Kaelen. "After all, he’s from the otherworld."

Oh?

This lizard seems to know something about players?

Kaelen was about to ask when their leader spoke again. This time, passing her judgment.

"Kill it."

The one with the spear didn’t hesitate and charged forward with his weapon raised when Kaelen shot out a blade-whip in his direction. He didn’t falter and swiftly deflected the blade head before twisting his spear around the whip and grabbing it with his arm like a rein, holding onto Kaelen’s tentacle and preventing him from running even if he wanted to.

He snorted disdainfully. "This is what you told me to be careful about, mistress? I can take care of it even without my weapon..." The dragon kin suddenly trailed off, and his expression immediately turned ugly.

The other dragon kin around became confused, but before they could ask, the dragon kin’s eyes suddenly widened in terror, and it began struggling to pull its arm away from the Slime’s tentacle, only to realize the Slime was holding onto his with a firm grip. Just like his spear, which was now melted from prolonged contact with the tentacle, his arm began to change color, and black veins began spreading across his arm at an incredible speed.

The dragon kin screamed and shouted for help from his people, and when they realized their ally was being dosed with poison, the one with a cleaver for a weapon charged forward and immediately raised their weapon to sever the tentacle from the middle, when the tentacle suddenly retracted with force, pulling the unfortunate lizard caught in its grip across the ground.

The others could barely react when their ally was pulled into the Slime’s body and immediately disappeared without a trace.

[You have killed a Pure-blooded Dragonling]

[10,000× Reward Multiplier Triggered...]

[You have received 10,000,000 Evolution Points]

’Oh? 10 million?’

Though Kaelen could tell the one he killed was a Tier 15, he was still surprised at the amount he got for it compared to the Tier 15 beast he killed in the previous floor explosion.

This only proved that these enemies were on a different level, and Kaelen had only gotten lucky because the enemy was distracted by the immense pain from the Primordial Plague.

They were too stunned to speak, that they could only stare at Kaelen with wide eyes filled with terror when Kaelen said with a mocking tone.

"Didn’t your mother teach you not to touch poisonous beasts?"

His statement shook them awake, and the terror in their eyes became rage.

"Y-You killed our brother?! Die!"

The others didn’t let just that one charge forward like the last time, and they all jumped in at once, charging at Kaelen, while their leader remained behind.

Even after knowing these enemies were strong, Kaelen stood his ground as he shot out multiple blade-whips towards them.

Unlike mindless beasts, they realized now the tentacles were poisonous and didn’t charge in recklessly. Rather, they began cutting down the blade-whips and deflecting them as they advanced at an incredible speed. It was almost like the blade-whips did nothing to stop them.

"Your strength is admirable..." Kaelen suddenly said amidst the battle, and at the same time, his evolution attributes’ level began climbing at an incredible speed.

"...Which is why I’ll spare you one advancement."

[You have reached the strength cap for Tier 11 lifeforms]

[Do you wish to ascend?]

"Ascend!" Kaelen commanded almost immediately.

Boom—

"Infinite Mana... Formless Dragon Sword Art!"

Kaelen chose the element to be wind, and the effect was instant.

A multitude of swords suddenly formed behind Kaelen, barely visible under the red sky. But their aura was enough to tell the advancing enemies that their end was near.

Their leader’s pupils constricted in terror, and her jaw hung open. "H-How’s that possible?"

"How can a Slime wield such powerful magic?!"

Kaelen’s reply to her question was...

"All of you... die."

Swoosh—!!!

The wind blades shot forward like a torrent of arrows, tearing through the knockoff dragon scales of the lizards before they could decide whether to fight or flee.

A massive dust cloud was lifted from the area, as every last one of the wind blades fell on that same area.

Kaelen didn’t need to look at the series of notifications flashing across his vision to know he’d done a good job.

But he still peeked and realized he received only five kill notifications.

"Someone survived?" He mused in surprise and spread his perception across the area, to see their leader badly injured and crawling away from the scene as she pulled out a red vial from her pocket and was about to down it when Kaelen quickly snatched it away with a tentacle and brought it closer for inspection.

He’s never seen such a thing in Evolution Online. But at the same time, Evolution Online wasn’t the first game he’d played, and Kaelen was already familiar with the liquid inside the vial.

"A health potion?!"
