Chapter 1007: Mic Nor

In all honesty, Michael had not truly expected to catch up with these two so quickly.

After all, Master Veyl and the Third Prince had escaped long before Michael even arrived at the Lionheart capital. A Great Stage existence moving at full speed through space was not something ordinary people could casually track down.

Yet thanks to a certain owl, Michael still managed to catch up rather easily.

One had to understand that advancing to Rank 3 was entirely different from the lower ranks. At that stage, whether human or monster, one would inevitably begin touching the domain of Laws.

Even if evolution acted as a shortcut toward greater power for monsters, it still granted them the trademark ability of Rank 3 beings.

A Law.

Naturally, Wisdom possessed one as well. And fortunately, its Law was exactly what Michael had hoped for.

A spatial-related Law. Space Domination.

Compared to many law concepts Michael knew about, this one was not particularly subtle in its expression. To put it simply, it gave Wisdom an absurd degree of control over the void itself.

Unfortunately, this law was so draining it could affect even Wisdom, which could be said to possess near-infinite energy thanks to its nature as a child of the void.

Back to the present.

Thanks to Wisdom’s Law, its maximum perception distance was instantly doubled. Even if it could only be maintained for a short period, this was more than enough to catch up with the Third Prince before they reached the empire.

Upon arriving, Michael had not immediately revealed his presence. Instead, he had concealed himself using his various stealth abilities while quietly considering whether it would be better to let the prince return to the empire before settling things between them, or simply handle it here as he had done in the Lionheart capital without dragging things out further.

Since he had only just arrived when the two were already arguing and were about to leave, Michael made his decision.

It was better to avoid wasting time and simply get things over with.

There was also the added benefit that absorbing the memories of two figures of such obvious high status would give him far more detailed knowledge of the imperial family than anything Princess Priscilla had provided.

It was also because he chose to reveal himself that the other party finally sensed him.

Master Veyl’s expression immediately became vigilant. The old man slowly stepped forward, placing himself slightly in front of the Third Prince while his senses spread outward cautiously.

The closer he looked at the youth sitting casually on the tree branch, the more uneasy he became.

He could not see through him at all. Not his cultivation. Not his aura. Not even his age.

To Master Veyl, this was deeply unsettling. For someone to silently bypass his senses and appear this close without detection, the other party had to at least stand on the same level as him. And there was absolutely no way someone like that would truly look this young.

The youth before him appeared to be in his late teens or early twenties at most. His features were excessively beautiful, almost unreal beneath the darkening evening, while his eyes carried a strange calmness entirely inconsistent with his apparent age.

Master Veyl immediately concluded this appearance was a disguise. Most likely some old monster deliberately maintaining a youthful form.

In fact, because of that overly beautiful appearance, Master Veyl was not even entirely certain the person before him was truly male. The figure clearly possessed masculine features, but combined with the assumption that this appearance was merely a facade, Master Veyl even began suspecting the true identity behind it could very well belong to a woman.

After all, many powerful experts throughout the world possessed strange preferences. Some concealed their appearance. Some changed genders entirely. Others abandoned their original bodies altogether. Compared to those old monsters, merely appearing young was hardly unusual.

Master Veyl slowly cupped his fists politely. "This old man is called Veyl," he said cautiously. "I currently serve as guardian to the Third Imperial Prince of the Black Serpent Empire."

His eyes remained fixed firmly on Michael the entire time. "May this sir please introduce themselves as well?"

Even while speaking politely, Master Veyl’s body remained tense internally. Space around him subtly fluctuated as though he were already prepared to flee at any moment if things turned wrong.

Meanwhile, behind him, the Third Prince’s expression had become serious as well. Like Master Veyl, he was entirely unaware of what Michael actually looked like.

Though he had been informed that the person who had attacked the flying port was supposedly someone of exceptional appearance, he could not immediately connect the youth on the branch with Mic Nor.

Now that the prince had calmed down somewhat, he found himself thinking along the same lines as Master Veyl. Whoever had attacked them in the capital was likely closely connected to Michael, but surely could not be Michael himself. Many of the Lionheart nobles had initially reached the same conclusion as well.

Michael stared at the two figures before him for several seconds. Then his expression gradually became strange.

"...You don’t recognize me?"

The moment those words fell, both Master Veyl and the Third Prince frowned slightly.

Master Veyl remained cautious. "This old man does not believe we have met before, sir."

Meanwhile, the Third Prince also looked confused.

Seeing their reactions, Michael genuinely became stunned. For a brief moment, he simply sat there silently on the branch while staring at them.

Then suddenly, Michael laughed.

At first the laughter sounded soft. But gradually, a trace of anger appeared within it. The sound caused Master Veyl’s vigilance to rise instantly while the Third Prince’s expression became uglier.

This figure was not being particularly respectful, the prince thought. But he kept his mouth shut. As spoiled as he was, he was not completely without sense.

Finally, Michael slowly looked toward the Third Prince.

"You sent people after me and you didn’t even know what I looked like?"

His voice remained calm, yet the surrounding atmosphere quietly became colder.

The Third Prince froze slightly. Michael’s laughter faded completely.

For some reason, the sheer ridiculousness of the situation genuinely angered him now. The empire. The princes. The nobles. All of them treated other people’s lives casually like pieces on a board. Yet the person standing at the center of everything had not even properly investigated his target beforehand.

Michael slowly stood up from the tree branch. The movement immediately caused Master Veyl’s expression to tighten.

"Let me introduce myself properly. I’m Mic Nor."

The Third Prince’s face finally changed. Beside him, Master Veyl’s heart sank as well.
