Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World
Chapter 1110: Intruders [2] (Edited!!!!)Beside the stone skinned man stood a slender woman with pale blue skin. Six transparent wings extended from her back, and long silver hair reached her waist. Her eyes possessed no pupils, only a uniform white glow.
The third figure was covered entirely in crimson armor. Not a single part of their body was visible.
The final person appeared the most ordinary. He was an old man.
A human, at least Michael thought so.
The man wore simple gray robes and held a wooden staff in one hand. His white hair was tied behind his head while a faint smile rested on his wrinkled face.
Michael's eyes immediately narrowed.
"A mage? Is he the reason I couldn't sense them before?"
That was Michael's first thought, before he carefully tried to gauge their levels without being discovered.
They were all Level 100.
With such a powerful team comprising four individuals at that level, Michael could have bet the lives of his enemies that they were here for the same treasure. In fact, they had probably been aware of it before him.
The stone-skinned man laughed loudly.
"So you noticed us."
His voice boomed across the area. The other three Epic Grade wolves had by now also sensed the intruders and risen to their feet.
Michael remained hidden throughout all of this. He no longer had any intention of leaving immediately.
Even if he couldn't get the treasure today, the situation unfolding before him was too interesting to abandon.
He wanted to gather as much information as possible before departing.
The silver wolf had already proven that the four Epic Grade wolves were beyond the ordinary monsters of the Origin Battlefield, creatures who didn't simply act on instinct.
He wondered, though, why none of them had taken a humanoid form.
Perhaps it was because they had never seen one. After all, the Origin Battlefield had been inactive for who knew how many years.
The winged woman glanced around.
"We meant no disrespect."
The silver wolf's expression didn't change.
"Leave."
It only uttered a single word.
The stone-skinned man's smile disappeared. The crimson-armored figure remained silent. The old man lightly tapped his wooden staff against the ground.
"We merely wish to inspect the tower."
"No."
The wolf's response was immediate.
The old man's smile widened slightly.
"Then perhaps we can trade."
"No."
"…You haven't even heard our offer."
"I do not care."
Michael almost laughed in his hiding spot.
He liked this wolf.
'Yes! No one should be able to touch or even look at my treasure!'
The old man's smile finally weakened.
Meanwhile, the stone-skinned awakener lowered the massive hammer from his shoulder.
Boom!
The moment its head touched the ground, cracks spread across the surrounding stone.
"Old man, I told you talking wouldn't work."
The winged woman frowned.
"Don't be reckless."
"Reckless?" The stone-skinned man grinned. "There are four of them." He pointed toward the Epic Grade wolves. "And four of us."
Michael's expression became strange. Though the four awakeners were clearly powerful, evident from their levels, taking on an Epic Grade creature one on one at the same level would be more than difficult.
Were these four somehow special compared to other Level 100 awakeners?
'If only I knew their names I could check their rankings on the Origin Battlefield leaderboard.'
Also, was that really how they were counting? Did the nearly one thousand Rank Four monsters surrounding the area suddenly become decorations?
Michael genuinely couldn't understand where the stone-skinned man's confidence came from.
The silver wolf stared at him. Then, strangely, it sighed.
"You strange outsiders who appeared out of nowhere are always the same."
Its massive body straightened to its full height. The other three Epic Grade wolves immediately followed.
Scarlet flames poured from the three-headed wolf's mouths.
The armored wolf's bone plates expanded with several loud cracks.
The winged wolf spread its four wings, and the surrounding wind instantly became violent.
Finally, the black mist around the silver wolf surged outward.
"One final time."
Its voice echoed throughout the nest.
"Leave."
The four awakeners didn't move.
Michael's eyes gradually brightened.
"…Fight. Please fight."
He almost said it aloud. The situation couldn't have developed any better. If both sides fought, Michael didn't need to defeat the four Epic Grade creatures by himself.
He didn't even need to lure them away. Someone else would do all of that for him. All he had to do was wait for the perfect opportunity.
Michael felt a very slight pang of guilt. Only very slight, of course. After all, he hadn't asked these people to come here.
If they wanted to risk their lives fighting four Epic Grade monsters, who was Michael to stop them? He was merely an innocent bystander.
The crimson-armored figure finally moved. A low voice emerged from beneath the helmet.
"Are you truly not afraid for the treasure you are defending? What if we destroy it?"
The threat was subtle, but everyone present understood it. Even Michael narrowed his eyes slightly, though he didn't believe the four would actually risk destroying the treasure.
There was also the separate question of whether they even had the power to do so.
The silver wolf, however, merely snorted.
"I do not care."
Its response was so casual that even the four awakeners fell silent for a moment.
The old mage's expression became thoughtful. Then, without warning, he raised his staff. Mana erupted.
The spell was short, yet the power compressed into it was enough to make every instinct in Michael's body scream.
A brilliant beam of concentrated energy shot directly toward the ancient tower.
Before it could touch the stone, a transparent barrier suddenly appeared. The spell struck it head-on. Michael expected an explosion.
Instead, the barrier didn't even ripple. The terrifying attack disappeared against its surface as though it had never existed.
Silence followed.
Michael stared at the tower with a solemn expression. The same was true of the other four awakeners.
"…"
The mage slowly lowered his staff. His thoughtful expression deepened.
The silver wolf merely watched him.
"I told you to leave."
