Beginning's law was almost designed to always put it in direct conflict with the most powerful enemies present. And at his current level, one mistake was sometimes enough to turn a situation desperate.

The Black Serpent Emperor was a perfect example, since Beginning had nearly tasted true death during that battle, though part of that could also be blamed on Beginning's own tendencies given its law.

Michael continued observing the five wolves. Several breaths passed. His expression gradually relaxed.

"They aren't that strong."

At least, not in the way intelligent Rank Four awakeners were strong.

Their physical abilities were excellent. Their energy reserves were dense. Their instincts were sharp. Their coordination was surprisingly impressive. But their methods were limited, straightforward in a way that made them easier to read and counter.

If these five had been awakeners instead, the battle would have been considerably tougher. It was precisely because of this that Michael hadn't deployed Beginning and had instead relied primarily on the High Drake, whose durability was effectively armor plating.

Even if something happened to it, it would simply become evolution material for Lucky when it eventually advanced to Rank Five.

Watching the wolves fight for a while was enough for Michael to roughly understand their full range of abilities.

With this level of opposition, there was an enormous margin for error even if he used Beginning. His concern slowly faded.

"Compared to fighting awakeners…"

His lips curled slightly.

"Monsters really are easier."

The Bone Wyvern was struck again.

BOOOOOOM!

Its skeletal body crashed through an ancient mountain. Before the two wolves could pursue, blue flames suddenly exploded between them.

FWOOSH!

One of the Black Serpent ancestors appeared. Its enormous body twisted through the sky before its burning tail swept horizontally.

BANG!

The nearest wolf was struck directly across the face. Its massive body was pushed back. The second Black Serpent ancestor followed almost immediately. Pink flowers bloomed. The flaming blossoms completely surrounded the same wolf before detonating together.

BOOOOOOOOM!

Pink flames consumed the sky. The two serpent ancestors immediately concentrated on a single Level 100 wolf.

Their objective wasn't to kill it, only to restrain it. With two Level 98 Three-Star Extraordinary undead working together under Berserk, that was more than achievable.

The Bone Wyvern was now left facing a single opponent. The original formation had been broken.

Michael's consciousness moved. Within the Mausoleum of Endless Dominion, a huge figure opened its eyes.

The air beside Michael distorted.

Beginning appeared. Its enormous body descended from above like a falling mountain. Its green eyes immediately locked onto one of the Level 100 wolves.

Michael observed the wolf for another second. He had already seen enough. There was sufficient room for error.

Even if Beginning fought recklessly, the possibility of something immediately fatal occurring was extremely low.

More importantly, Michael's gaze drifted toward the black barrier.

The barrier wouldn't last forever. Inside were four Level 100 Epic Grade wolves. Six powerful Level 100 awakeners. And a treasure whose value was still completely unknown.

No matter which side emerged victorious, the situation after the barrier came down would almost certainly become even more chaotic.

Michael needed to prepare.

He smiled faintly.

"Beginning."

The giant tilted its head slightly.

Michael pointed toward one of the Level 100 wolves.

"Go."

Beginning moved.

BOOOOOOM!

The ground exploded. Its massive figure crossed the battlefield in an instant. The Level 100 wolf reacted quickly. Its dark claws shone with metallic light as it swung forward.

Beginning didn't dodge. Its body simply grew bigger.

BANG!

The claws struck directly against its chest. Five enormous wounds opened. Green acidic blood sprayed through the air.

Michael's eyebrow twitched.

"…You didn't have to take that directly."

Beginning's wounds began closing. The wolf instinctively stepped backward upon seeing this.

Michael stared silently. Then sighed.

"Well…"

Perhaps worrying about Beginning fighting recklessly had always been somewhat pointless. Beginning itself clearly had no such concerns.

BOOM!

Its fist descended. The Level 100 wolf crossed both forelimbs and was driven straight into the ground, injuring several undead and fellow monsters along the way.

CRACK!!!

The earth split apart. Beginning descended rapidly and punched again.

BOOM!

Again. BOOM!

Again. BOOOOOOM!

The wolf was steadily driven deeper into the earth.

Michael's eyes slowly widened.

"Why does it look stronger than before?"

He was genuinely surprised. The wolf was no weakling, and yet Beginning was dominating it in a way that even surprised Michael, who had watched Beginning fight many times.

Wait. Was it that the wolves simply weren't as strong as he'd assumed, or was it that the Undead High Drake had always been the outlier, making everything else seem weaker by comparison?

Michael had actually never seen the full extent of the High Drake's power. The times it had fought personally alongside him had always been against awakeners, where its strength hadn't looked particularly dominant in context.

And against other undead in sparring, Michael had always made sure not to cross certain limits.

Unfortunately, since it wasn't a monster, Michael couldn't see its grade the way he could for others. All he knew was that it probably didn't qualify as Epic Grade even if such a category applied to it.

Michael glanced once more toward the black barrier. Anticipation gradually appeared in his eyes.

"Good."

Let Beginning warm up now. When that barrier came down, Michael had a feeling the true battle would finally begin.

As for why he was so certain the barrier would eventually fall, it was because he had already used his senses to probe it earlier and confirmed that the energy maintaining it was finite, likely drawn from that thrown disk.

This was also why Michael wanted the battle outside to conclude quickly. Once it was over, he could have his undead concentrate on the barrier simultaneously and potentially hasten its collapse.

As for himself, all he needed to do was stay hidden and conserve his energy.

It seemed that lacking sufficient individual power had, ironically, made him a more careful and methodical necromancer.

But a fake one still.
