Axel, remaining in his terrifying demonic visage of Osiris, lowered his clawed hand vertically downward in a motion that appeared agonisingly slow yet possessed an absolute, unstoppable momentum.
His eyes remained closed as he executed the motion, a gesture that relied on no registered martial technique, no secret skill, and no inherited bloodline ability.
It was the raw, unadulterated manifestation of his newly realised authority over the concept of despair, channelled through the combined essence of his grey demonic body and dual hearts.
A vertical line of dual colored fire erupted from his gesture, cleaving through the atmospheric pressure of the space itself.
The pitch-black flames, interlaced with brilliant white strands of raw emotional weight, tore through the air with a terrifying hiss.
The sheer force of the descending strike tested the structural stability of the Innate Territory imposed by the Duke, pushing its spatial rules to their absolute limits, if only for a few fleeting moments.
The expression on the face of the fifth-phase Psychic entity altered instantly.
A profound sense of lethal danger enveloped his entire spiritual form, causing his eyes to widen in genuine alarm. Gritting his teeth through the crushing pressure, the abstract warrior executed his strongest possible countermeasure without a single moment of delay.
He condensed every drop of his remaining spiritual force, channelling his combined capabilities into a single point of focus.
A roaring beam of condensed yellow light burst forth from his outstretched hands, cutting across the firmament like a lance of localised destruction.
The screaming yellow beam met the descending vertical line of black and white fire in midair.
The resulting collision shattered the quiet of the domain. A cataclysmic boom erupted, shaking the foundation of the realm like never before.
The acoustic shockwave rippled outward in visible rings of distorted pressure, violently parting the sea of air and tearing through the lingering smoke.
The yellow beam fought desperately against the dual colored fire, but the essence of despair proved overwhelming, eating through the yellow energy from the inside out.
A moment later, an enraged scream echoed across the firmament, as if the very spiritual will of Allen Dusker had been struck and wounded by the demonic gesture.
As the chaotic energy dispersed and the heavy dust drifted away on the turbulent winds, the outcome became clear.
Half of the fifth-phase Abstract Entity’s body had been eaten away by expanding black cracks. The remaining portion of his form was rapidly crumbling into glittering particles, unable to halt the spread of the corruption.
Just as with the hundreds of psychic warriors Axel had destroyed moments earlier, a complex expression rested upon the entity’s face.
Yet the bitterness on this supreme construct was far more pronounced than on any of the lower-phase warriors before him.
Axel watched quietly, his senses attuned to the rich spectrum of endless sadness spilling forth from the dying being.
All the bottled emotions of a once great warrior, trapped in forced servitude for centuries under the Duke’s command, were flushing out simultaneously.
The fifth phase abstract entity closed his eyes as a single glittering tear escaped from his eyelid, dissolving into air before it could hit the ground. Opening his eyes one final time, he looked toward the demon and spoke.
His spiritual voice echoed directly into Axel’s mind. "I never thought I would live to say these words, but thank you, demon, for freeing me and my people."
He paused, a soft and genuine smile appearing on his crumbling face.
"I intended to reveal the secret to defeating the Duke, but it seems there is no need. You already know how to break his domain, do you not?" Axel did not offer a spoken reply.
He simply offered a firm, quiet nod. Satisfied with the response, the fifth phase entity faded entirely into nothingness, leaving behind no physical trace or remnant of soul force.
With a heavy exhale, the Demon turned his gaze away from the empty air and looked across the vast expanse of the domain. Multiple kilometres away, the sky was violently torn by flashes of silver light and dark psychic pressure, marking the location where Duke Allen Dusker and Axel’s father, Daniel, were engaged in a brutal struggle.
Just as Axel had anticipated, the destruction of the Duke’s territory-based Psychic Construction technique had delivered a devastating backlash directly to its caster.
Mid-battle, the Duke had been seized by an internal shock, coughing up a thick splash of unhealthy blood as his mental network shattered under the destruction of his army.
It was an opening that Daniel did not waste.
Despite his battered state, with the brilliant sheen of his Glowing Silver Runic Armour, which had now dimmed significantly and was covered in deep fractures, Daniel pressed the assault with ruthless precision. His silver blade carved arcs through the air, driving the Duke back step by step and forcing him onto the defensive.
Axel flared his bat like demonic wings. With a single powerful stroke, he launched himself through the air like a black missile, breaking the sound barrier as he cut across the firmament. The wind roared against his grey demonic hide, his skin lined with smooth white veins that pulsed in rhythm with his dual hearts.
In less than thirty seconds, he closed the distance to the battle site.
Duke Allen’s expression twisted in horror as he noticed the demon’s rapid arrival. The Duke had truly believed that his invisible psychic army, led by his fifth-phase Psychic entity, would be more than enough to kill the demon, or at the very least leave him so broken and drained that he could no longer participate in battle.
Slowly, the reality of his situation began to settle in. The Duke was beginning to comprehend the true terror of the demon race. Part of the reason he had not taken Osiris seriously as a primary threat was his firm belief that the demon had not reached the fifth phase of power.
In his mind, if the demon were truly a fifth-phase entity, there would be no prolonged fight to speak of; he would have been killed with ease by the Demon.
The Duke had refused to believe that a warrior below the fifth phase could not cross the vast chasm separating the fourth and fifth phases.
He had already been stunned by how close the demon’s offensive output was to his own at the start of the conflict.
Now, seeing the demon return virtually unscathed after obliterating an entire armada of invisible, incorporeal warriors, including a fifth phase seeker, filled the Duke with cold dread.
The most disturbing realisation was that the demon bore almost no fresh injuries from the slaughter.
Despite the chaos racing through his mind, Allen unleashed a massive surge of power.
Osiris was not interested in dragging out the confrontation any longer. As he shot through the air, the demon was already preparing another devastating assault, his claws glowing with a volatile mix of black and white fire.
