Chapter 194: The Architect’s Execution
The King Level Beast shrieked, a horrifying sound of grinding wood and demonic fury. It staggered back as Lucien’s parry numbed its massive scythe, its exposed, ruined heart pulsing wildly.
It was wounded, but it was still a Phase Two calamity. It raised its remaining bladed limbs, preparing to crush the tiny humans who had dared to break its core.
Lucien did not retreat.
The elegant swordsman adjusted his silver cuffs. The ambient mana from the World Tree practically vibrated against his skin.
He had successfully sealed the Level 100 threshold, and the contained, explosive power of his Awakening was begging to be released.
"You ruined a perfectly good diplomatic uniform," Lucien noted politely, pointing his [Storm-Caller Rapier] at the colossal treant.
"The dry-cleaning bill is going to be astronomical."
CRACK!
Lucien simply ceased to exist in the physical plane. He did not teleport. He moved at the literal speed of lightning.
The air in the cavern instantly turned to ozone. A massive, localized thunderstorm erupted directly above the Beast.
Violent, jagged bolts of blinding blue electricity rained down, striking the obsidian floor in a perfect, continuous circle around the monster.
The lightning did not fade. The bolts hardened, freezing into solid, crackling pillars of raw voltage. Lucien had forged a cage of solid lightning.
The insectoid treant roared, swinging a heavy scythe to smash the glowing bars.
The moment the dark matter touched the solid lightning, Lucien struck.
He moved so fast he created afterimages. He delivered exactly one thousand thrusts in a single, impossible millisecond. The sheer speed generated a blinding sphere of electrical friction.
The strikes did not just pierce the chitin; they systematically dismantled the kinetic integrity of the Beast’s armor.
"Pardon the intrusion," Lucien’s voice echoed simultaneously from every direction inside the cage.
FWOOSH!
The Beast’s dark armor exploded into ash. The monster was completely exposed, trapped inside the roaring thunderstorm.
It desperately tried to mutate, attempting to flood the cage with its acidic sap.
"Oh, please," a cold, distinctly unimpressed voice echoed from the floor.
"I am trying to concentrate."
Nyx Vespera stood at the edge of the lightning cage. Her eyes shone with a terrifying, concentrated white light.
She had chained the Phantom-Weaver. She was the master of her domain.
She did not throw her daggers. She sank entirely into the pitch-black shadows cast by the lightning storm.
The Beast suddenly convulsed.
Nyx had slipped directly into the monster’s own shadow, physically bypassing the thick bark and entering its massive, corrupted body.
From the inside out, she began to carve.
Every single cut she made with her [Shadow-Rend Daggers] did not leave a bloody wound.
It created a permanent black hole. The miniature voids instantly began sucking the dark matter and corrupted sap into oblivion.
The Beast thrashed wildly, its internal organs actively collapsing into nothingness.
Nyx rose smoothly from the shadow cast by the Beast’s shattered chest. She landed perfectly on the obsidian ridge.
"You really should have surrendered when you had the chance," Nyx mocked, spinning her daggers flawlessly.
"Now I have to do the heavy lifting."
She raised her hands.
[Phantom Queen]
The black lake of shadows expanded across the entire cavern. The thousands of faceless, jagged-mawed wraiths did not swarm the Beast individually. Nyx forced them together.
The shadows violently merged, coalescing into a single, towering executioner wraith. It was as large as the treant itself, wielding a massive guillotine blade forged purely from compressed darkness.
The executioner wraith reached into the lightning cage.
It grabbed the King Level Beast by its insectoid neck and slammed it brutally onto the obsidian floor, pinning the monster in place.
The Beast was completely outmatched. Its armor was stripped. Its internal organs were collapsing. It was pinned by a literal nightmare.
The King Level Beast realized it was going to die.
It stopped thrashing. The millions of eyes on its ruined, exposed heart stopped darting. They locked together in a unified, desperate gaze.
The Beast triggered its final fail-safe.
The massive, million-eyed heart began to phase out of reality. It turned completely translucent, glowing with an eerie, unnatural purple light.
"It’s anchoring itself!" Lucien warned, his lightning cage suddenly failing to hold the translucent energy.
Nyx threw an obsidian dagger directly at the fading heart. The void-steel blade passed completely through the organ as if it were cutting through mist.
The King Level Beast was permanently anchoring its core into the dimensional fabric of the temporal dungeon.
It was abandoning its physical shell to survive. If the heart successfully anchored, the Beast would outlive the simulation, completely cheating death.
"We can’t hit it!" Nyx yelled, her executioner wraith’s massive blade passing harmlessly through the phasing wood.
A heavy, metallic clink echoed across the silent ridge.
CLINK.
Nyx and Lucien turned around.
Draven was standing.
He was currently occupying the ruined, middle-aged host body of Haldor the guard. The cheap iron chainmail was completely shattered.
He was covered in his own dark blood. The bones in his left arm were ground to splinters. His lungs were actively hemorrhaging.
A normal man would have been dead twenty minutes ago.
But Draven was not a normal man.
He slowly raised his blood-soaked right gauntlet. He completely bypassed the physical limitations of the mortal shell.
He tapped directly into the peak of his soul.
[SSS-Rank Conceptual Vector Authority]
Draven did not manipulate gravity or kinetic force. He grabbed the fundamental, invisible vectors of space and time.
He looked directly at the phasing, translucent heart of the King Level Beast.
"You do not get to leave," Draven whispered. His voice was incredibly weak, but the cosmic weight behind it was staggering.
He closed his bloody gauntlet into a tight fist.
Reality itself shattered.
The air around Draven’s hand physically cracked like a massive glass mirror. He pulled his fist backward. Glowing, brilliant golden threads erupted from thin air.
They were the literal dimensional tethers the Beast was trying to use to escape.
Draven gripped the golden threads. He violently snapped them.
CRUNCH!
The cavern actively collapsed inward for a microsecond. The extreme spatial distortion violently ripped the King Level Beast’s anchor entirely out of the dimension.
The massive, million-eyed heart instantly slammed back into solid reality.
The Beast shrieked in helpless terror. It was physical again.
"Now," the Captain ordered.
Nyx and Lucien did not hesitate.
Lucien moved at the speed of light, driving his crackling rapier directly into the center of the massive heart, pinning it securely to the floor with a massive spike of solid lightning.
Nyx commanded her towering executioner wraith. The massive shadow raised its dark guillotine blade. It brought the weapon down with terrifying, absolute force.
SHKKK!
The blade cleaved cleanly through the center of the million-eyed heart.
The King Level Beast went entirely silent.
The massive, insectoid treant instantly turned to gray ash. The dark matter dissolved. The thick, corrupted roots of the World Tree suddenly shattered, completely purged of the parasitic magic.
The boss fight was over.
The moment the Beast died, the entire obsidian cavern began to violently shake. The dark walls began to fracture, dissolving into bright white light.
The primary objective was complete. The simulation of Thaldrasil was actively breaking apart.
Draven lowered his bloody hand. He watched the white light consume the cavern. He had successfully protected his squad, and he had secured the victory.
His human host body finally gave out. Draven closed his gray eyes, letting the bright light swallow him whole.
