Third Person
Still, Angel wasn’t ready to accept that her friends were thinking about settling down.
Sabrina started over again with her crunches..
Angel knelt on the rubber floor, she was holding Sabrina’s legs, helping her with her crunches.
"This doesn’t make sense. You two always dispose girls after two or three weeks, and you haven’t even been with this one that long, yet you’re already thinking about dating her. As in, an actual relationship?" Angel said.
Her eyebrows pulled together into a sharp, frustrated line as Sabrina lifted her torso up toward her knees, her breath coming out in steady, even rhythmic puffs.
"Angel, can you just let it rest and hold my legs tight?" Sabrina said.
She touched her elbows to her knees before letting her back slide smoothly back down toward the floor mat.
"Rest? I’m not letting this rest. What happened to being bros for life? Screwing every Omega on this planet and retiring with our pets on a farm? That was our high school dream. Not finding love. Love is crap. It’s empty, lonely, and filled with endless yearning for someone who may never come home."
Angel’s voice rose, cutting straight over the distant hum of the running treadmills and clanking weights.
"That was during highschool, a long time ago... and that is your definition of love. Ours is different now..."
Sabrina pushed herself up for her final set, her eyes looking into Angel’s agitated face without a single trace of doubt.
"What happened to my friends?"
Angel gestured wildly toward Carlos, who was quietly wiping sweat from his forehead with a towel across the room.
"Love happened," Sabrina said.
She was finally done with her crunches, so she stood up from the mat. Angel stood up after her.
Sabrina patted her hands together to shake off the dust, her posture relaxed while Angel towered right beside her, her eyes flashing with restless heat.
Carlos continued lifting his dumbbell, testing his muscles.
He squeezed the heavy steel handle, watching his arm flex in the mirrored wall as if testing his strength for a long, heavy road ahead.
"This is all their fault. Those bookstore girls are trouble. Red flags, I tell bad flags.." Angel said.
She paced back and forth across the small space between the workout mats, running her broad palm through her unkempt hair.
She grabbed Sabrina’s shoulders and turned her to face her.
Her tight grip locked onto her friend’s gym shirt, her fingers digging into the cotton material as she stared straight into her eyes.
"You have been charmed by her toxic pussy. You need to be cleansed. We all need to be cleansed from those bookgirls. Tonight, let’s go to a strip club. No, let’s have our own first-ever sex party. Let’s teach those Omegas a lesson. We cannot be tamed."
Angel shook her head, her words spilling out fast, frantic, and reckless as she tried to drag her best friends back onto the wild path they had walked for years.
Sabrina sighed. The friend in front of her was getting too desperate
She reached up, gently tapping Angel’s wrists to make her loosen her tight grip on her top.
"Is this because of April? She has gotten to you too, right?" Sabrina asked.
Her sharp voice cut straight through Angel’s wild rant, her gaze pinning the red-haired Alpha right where she stood.
"She can never get me. I’m not weak like you hypocrites. I always follow the code. Never let them get to you," Angel said.
"But you forgot your dick inside her. That alone says it all. She got you deep..," Carlos teased.
He set his heavy metal weight down onto the rack with a loud iron clang that echoed right across the room.
"Look, Angel. Our parents had a love story that was amazing when we were growing up. We both want what they had. Carlos and I have planned to settle down once we find someone we can love, and Katie might be that girl. Even if she happened to charm both of us, we don’t care. We like it that way..."
Sabrina spoke softly, her eyes warming as she looked back over at her brother, who was smiling fond and easy near the wall.
"You stupid, stupid friends. What have you done to my friends?" Angel said, shaking Sabrina’s shoulders. "You guys were the good ones, bring back the original Sabrina and Carlos..."
She grabbed Sabrina’s arms again, her raspy voice cracking slightly with genuine, desperate frustration.
"Love is not real..."
She muttered the words under her breath like a protective shield, backing away until her spine hit the edge of a weight bench.
"Angel, love is real. Your parents might not have shown you the meaning of love, but you can let someone else show you. And April could be that person," Sabrina said.
She didn’t get angry at Angel’s harsh tone. She just stood her ground, her voice steady and gentle as she laid out the plain truth her friend had been running from for weeks.
Angel sat down on the bench, her eyes fixed on the glass wall overlooking the district.
"My organs are so peaceful. What if I give them out and they use them to their own advantage?"
Her voice dropped low, stripped completely of its usual arrogant volume. She stared down at her broad, calloused hands, her throat tightening as she voiced the quiet fear buried deep behind her sharp insults.
Carlos tossed his towel over his shoulder, stepping up right next to his sister as they both looked down at the quiet, brooding Alpha.
"You have played with so many girls’ hearts. Allow this one to play with yours. It won’t turn out badly," Sabrina said.
She rested a warm hand flat against Angel’s shoulder, giving it a firm, supportive squeeze.
As they talked, they saw April, Katie, and Abigail riding bicycles outside through the gym’s glass wall.
The three girls glided along the smooth boardwalk, their bicycles weaving past the tall palm trees under the morning sun.
April was in front, her dark hair bouncing over her shoulders while her glasses caught the light every time she laughed at something Katie called out behind her.
They all looked happy and were clearly having fun.
"Carlos, shall we go ride with the girls?" Sabrina asked.
She tapped her brother’s arm, her eyes lighting up as she pointed through the clear window panel toward the path.
"Already going."
Carlos grinned, grabbing his water bottle and gym sack off the floor frame without missing a single beat.
"You two must be tripping. We’re not done with our exercise. Don’t leave," Angel said.
She pushed herself up from the bench, her crimson eyes darting between the two of them as panic flared right back up in her chest.
"Lo siento, compa. Cycling is another way to burn calories, having fun and chilling with the girls..." Carlos muttered in a playful tone..
He gave Angel a quick, playful slap on her upper shoulder, swinging his duffel strap over his back.
Angel watched her two friends leave the gym.
Their footsteps faded away down the tiled corridor, leaving her completely alone in the busy weight room as the sound of running belts and clanking iron closed in around her once again.
