"Where’s Sylvia?" I asked, unable to hide the worry in my voice.

Mrs. Chloe blinked in surprise. "Miss Sylvia?"

A small smile crossed her face. "She left over an hour ago."

"She left?" I frowned.

Mrs. Chloe nodded.

"Did she tell you where she was going?"

"She did."

"She said she was attending a book launch."

"A book launch?" I repeated, unable to hide my surprise.

Mrs. Chloe nodded. "Yes."

I stood there quietly for a moment.

A book launch...

Which book launch was she talking about?

Why didn’t she tell me she was going?

A quiet sigh escaped my lips. "Thank you, Mrs. Chloe."

"You’re welcome, Miss Amelia."

I turned and headed back upstairs.

A few moments later, I stepped into my room.

The room felt strangely quiet without Sylvia.

I placed my phone on the bedside table and walked toward the bathroom.

After a few steps, I stopped. My gaze drifted back to my phone.

Should I call her?

I stared at it for a long moment.

Maybe I should ask where she was.

No.

If she wanted me to know, she would’ve told me before she left.

I slowly looked away and let out a quiet breath.

"I’ll ask her when she gets back."

I wrapped my fingers around the doorknob and pushed the bathroom door open before stepping inside.

I stepped into the bathroom and closed the door behind me.

The cool marble tiles met my bare feet as I walked toward the spacious glass shower.

I turned the handle, and warm water poured from the rainfall showerhead, quickly filling the room with soft steam.

After adjusting the temperature, I stepped beneath it and closed my eyes.

A quiet sigh escaped my lips. For a few moments, I simply stood there, letting the water run over me.

Then I reached for the bottle of body wash on the marble shelf.

The fresh lavender scent filled the air as I worked it into a rich lather and slowly washed myself before rinsing it away beneath the warm water.

I shampooed and conditioned my hair, running my fingers through the strands until they felt soft and smooth.

A few minutes later, I turned off the shower.

The steady sound of falling water faded, leaving only the quiet drip of lingering droplets.

I reached for a large white towel and wrapped it around myself before using another to gently dry my hair.

Once I was done, I stepped out of the bathroom.

The cool air brushed lightly against my damp skin as I walked toward my wardrobe.

My fingers skimmed over the neatly arranged clothes.

What should I wear?

Before I could decide—

Knock!

Knock!

I turned and walked to the door before pulling it open.

One of the servants stood outside, holding a sleek white designer box with both hands.

"Miss Amelia," she said politely, lowering her gaze. "This was delivered for you."

I looked at the box, then back at her. "I wasn’t expecting a delivery."

Just then, my phone rang.

The sound came from the bed behind me.

I glanced over my shoulder before walking back into the room.

When I reached the bedside, I picked up my phone and looked at the screen.

Camila.

I answered immediately.

"Hey, Lia."

"Cam?"

"Did the delivery arrive?"

My eyes drifted back to the box still in the servant’s hands.

I blinked. "Wait... you’re the one who sent it?"

A soft laugh came through the speaker.

"I saw it yesterday while I was shopping."

"The moment I saw it, I knew it would look good on you. So I bought it."

I smiled helplessly. "Cam..."

"Just do me one favor. Wear it today."

Before I could say anything else, the line went dead.

I lowered the phone and let out a quiet sigh.

"...She really doesn’t give people a chance to refuse."

I looked at the servant. "You can bring it in."

"Yes, Miss."

She carried the box inside and carefully placed it on the center table before giving me a small bow.

"Anything else, Miss?"

I shook my head. "No. Thank you."

She smiled politely before leaving the room, closing the door softly behind her.

I looked at the elegant white box and slowly walked toward it.

I opened the lid, and my eyes widened.

It was beautiful.

Even without lifting the gown out, I could tell it was something special.

Carefully, I folded back the tissue paper and slipped my hands beneath the fabric.

A breathtaking midnight sapphire gown came into view.

The satin shimmered softly beneath the morning light, the rich blue color resembling the night sky just after sunset.

I ran my fingers gently over the smooth fabric, unable to hide my smile.

"...It’s gorgeous."

Only one person would know my taste this well.

I shook my head helplessly. "Cam..."

"You really didn’t have to."

I picked up the box and carried it to my dressing table.

I lifted the gown out carefully and slipped into it.

The satin felt cool and smooth against my skin.

I reached behind me, caught the zipper, and slowly pulled it all the way up.

The gown fit me perfectly.

The one-shoulder design showed one of my shoulders, while the fitted waist made my figure look slimmer. The gown flowed smoothly to the floor, and the slit on one side revealed a glimpse of my leg whenever I moved.

The deep navy-blue color made my fair skin stand out even more, and the small silver stones on the shoulder sparkled softly under the light.

I looked at my reflection. A smile slowly spread across my lips.

I sat down in front of the dressing table and plugged in my hair straightener.

I smoothed my hair before curling the ends into soft, loose waves. When I finished, I gently ran my fingers through it, letting the waves fall naturally over my shoulders.

I smiled at my reflection before applying a light touch of makeup. A little foundation, a hint of blush, mascara, and a soft nude lip color were all I needed to enhance my features.

When I was satisfied, I pushed my chair back, stood up, and walked over to my wardrobe. Beside it was the glass cabinet that held my watch collection.

My gaze moved over the neatly arranged watches before settling on a slim silver watch with a deep blue dial. I picked it up, fastened it around my wrist, and gave it a quick glance.

I closed the glass cabinet and walked toward my shoe collection. My eyes swept across the neatly arranged heels before stopping on a pair of silver strappy stilettos.

I slipped them on and adjusted the straps around my ankles.

My gaze shifted to my handbag collection.

After looking through them for a moment, I reached for a small silver clutch.

It was simple, with a crystal clasp at the center.

I carried the clutch back to my dressing table and slipped my cardholder and lipstick inside before closing it with a soft click.

I picked up my phone and looked at myself.

I couldn’t help smiling. "Perfect."

My phone began to vibrate, and the screen lit up.

I didn’t even need to look at the caller ID. I already knew who it was.

I answered the call.

"Cam."

"I’m outside," Camila’s calm voice came through the phone.

"I’ll be right there."

Before she could say anything else, I ended the call.

I slipped my phone into my clutch, took one last glance at my reflection in the mirror, then turned toward the door.

I stepped out of the room with a small smile on my face.

I walked through the hallway and made my way to the staircase.

The soft fabric of my gown brushed lightly against the steps as I walked down one step at a time.

When I reached the bottom, I headed straight for the front door.

One of the servants quickly opened it for me.

"Thank you."

I stepped outside and immediately spotted Camila’s black car parked in the driveway.

I walked over, opened the passenger door, and slipped into the seat.

The moment I looked up, I found Camila staring at me without saying a word.

A small smile crept onto my lips.

"Hey, Cam."

I waved my hand lightly in front of her face.

She blinked as though snapping out of a daze, then looked away with a quiet cough.

"I knew it would look good on you," she said softly.

I looked down at the gown before smiling back at her.

"Thank you."

The corners of her lips lifted into a faint smile. Without another word, she started the engine and pulled away from the mansion.

For the first few minutes, neither of us spoke.

The silence was comfortable. Only the soft hum of the engine filled the space between us.

After a few minutes, I turned to her.

"Cam..."

She glanced at me before returning her attention to the road.

"Mmm?"

"How’s Daniel?"
