Sylvia pulled back and met my gaze, her eyes a deep, inviting pool.

"And who are you to ask me that?"

He took a few slow steps toward me until we were standing face to face.

The smile on his face disappeared. "I don’t care what kind of relationship you think you have with her."

His voice was calm. "But you’d better keep it as nothing more than a sister’s relationship."

For a moment, I simply stared at him.

Then I smiled. "I’m sorry..."

"But I don’t remember asking for your opinion."

A flicker of annoyance crossed his face. He looked at me for another second before brushing past my shoulder.

Without another word, he walked away.

I watched him disappear around the corner.

"What a ridiculous man."

I folded my arms.

"You forgot?"

She pinched my cheek lightly.

"I was about to ask security to help me look for you."

A guilty smile crept onto my face.

"I’m really sorry."

Camila sighed helplessly before pulling me into another hug.

"Just don’t scare me like that again."

I nodded against her shoulder.

"I won’t."

"Fine." She sighed, a small smile tugging at her lips.

"Get in."

I smiled back, stepped away from her, and walked over to the passenger’s side.

"Let’s go."

I opened the door and slid into the seat.

A moment later, Camila walked around to the driver’s side.

She climbed in, closed the door, and rested both hands on the steering wheel.

But instead of starting the engine, she turned to look at me.

She didn’t say a word.

She just stared at me for a few long seconds, as though she were trying to read my face.

"What?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

Camila didn’t start the engine immediately.

Instead, she turned to look at me.

She stared at me for a few seconds before narrowing her eyes.

I swallowed.

"Where did you go?"

I blinked innocently.

"Huh?"

"Don’t ’huh’ me." She folded her arms. "You disappeared without a word."

"I told you to wait by the car. And when I came back, you were nowhere to be found."

She let out a frustrated sigh.

"Do you know how worried I was?"

"I checked around the parking lot."

"I even thought someone had taken you."

Guilt immediately settled in my chest.

"I’m sorry, Cam."

She looked at me for a long moment before sighing again.
