Falling For The True Heiress

Chapter 8: That’s My Counsin

"Amelia, are you fine?"

Sylvia was running towards me with a worried expression. When she reached where I was standing, she immediately grabbed my hands and started checking if I was hurt anywhere. Her hand felt warm against my cold skin.

All the students were stunned at how concerned Sylvia was about me. They started whispering.

Why is she concerned about Amelia?

Isn’t she the real daughter?

She’s supposed to send her packing, which I would have done if I were her.

I immediately pulled my hands away from Sylvia and looked up at her.

"I told you not to help me next time, right?" I said, meeting her gaze.

"Amelia," Camila called, running towards us.

"Hey, what was that nonsense for?" Dana shouted.

Immediately, Sylvia turned and walked towards her. Most students brought out their phones and started recording. People shifted closer, bumping shoulders as they watched.

"I haven’t started with you, but you chose to start with me, right?" Sylvia said, smiling coldly at her.

"What if you’re the real daughter? And so fucking what?" Dana said angrily.

Sylvia stepped closer to Dana. Dana stepped back slightly, her shoes scraping the floor.

"Dana, right?"

Dana frowned.

"You seem very interested in my family affairs."

Sylvia tilted her head, smiling.

"But if you spent half as much energy on your studies as you do gossiping, perhaps you’d be at the top of the class by now."

"If you don’t have anything useful to do with your mouth, I suggest the toilets need it." She said with a smirk on her face.

Dana immediately backed away and walked out. Sylvia watched her as she left.

"Watch your step," Sylvia said, waving at her.

Camila was spinning me around, checking if I was hurt.

"Cam, I’m fine," I said, shaking my head.

"So you’re here?" Camila asked, smiling at Daniela.

I looked at Daniela and then back at Camila.

"Do you know her?" I asked with a confused expression.

"Yeah," Camila said, crossing her arms, "That’s my cousin who always—"

Daniela cleared her throat and held my hand.

"Let’s go to class, Lia."

"Lia?" I repeated, surprised at how Daniela knew what Camila called me.

I turned towards Sylvia, who was still standing there. She frowned and looked down at the hand Daniela was holding.

"I haven’t even held your hand for a second," she whispered, sulking.

"Thanks," I said, looking at her, and walked away, still holding Daniela’s hand.

Camila looked at Sylvia, waved at her, and turned to catch up with me.

Most of the students started whispering.

"She’s still the same as she has always been," one student said, sighing.

"She’s still too bratty and arrogant, even when she’s not the real heiress," another student said, shaking her head.

Sylvia was standing there, still looking in my direction.

"Lia, isn’t that harsh?" Camila asked, walking beside me and looking at me with pity.

"But I didn’t ask for her help," I said, ignoring Camila’s expression.

"But she’s your sister," she said softly.

I stopped immediately and turned to Camila, who was looking at me with a frown.

I shook my head and started walking faster.

I’m sorry, Sylvia. But I haven’t really trusted you yet.

We walked to our classroom. When I walked to my desk, it was already ruined. I was really annoyed this time.

"Who did this?" I shouted angrily.

"And what if I said that I was the one?" a voice came behind me.

It was Dana again.

I think I need to teach her a little lesson.

Even if I’m fake, I’m not a pushover. I turned and walked towards her.

Chairs scraped loudly against the floor as the whole class turned in my direction.

The closer I got, the more she stepped backward.

She stopped and tilted her head.

"You fake, what do you want to do?" she said, pointing at me.

"You’ll know soon," I said, smiling.

I opened my bag and brought out the orange juice I had intended to give Sylvia in the morning as a thank-you gift but didn’t know how to give to her.

I opened the juice and poured it over Dana’s head.

All the students were really surprised because no one expected that from me.

"Do you like this?" I asked, tilting my head and smiling at her.

"You fake, you—"

"Hey, wait."

I raised my hand, interrupting her.

"I may be a fake, but I’m not a pushover," I said, gently slapping her face.

Our homeroom teacher came inside immediately.

"What’s going on over there?" she asked, putting down her books.

Everyone turned and started walking back to their desks.

I turned to look at my desk, which was already ruined.

I brought out my phone to send a message to the school authorities to bring another desk.

I stopped myself immediately.

I’m a fake daughter. Why would I think they would listen to a fake like me?

Just then, a security guard came in, looking around while holding a new desk.

"Who’s Amelia Winston?" he asked.

I raised my hand.

"Any problem?" I asked, looking at him.

"No, sorry, Miss," he said. "I just brought a new desk for you."

"But I didn’t order that," I said, looking confused.

"Someone else did," he said, setting down the new desk.

Then he left with the old one. The teacher cleared her throat.

"Can we start now?"

"Yes, Miss Olivia," the whole class shouted in unison.

Miss Olivia smiled and turned to Sylvia, who was standing behind her.

"This is Sylvia Winston. She will be staying with us," Miss Olivia said, smiling at the whole class.

She turned to Sylvia and gestured for her to sit in any empty seat she liked.

Sylvia nodded and walked down the aisle. Some students were making space for her, while others were gesturing for her to sit with them.

But Sylvia walked straight to the empty seat beside me and sat down.

Why?

Was she doing it out of pity?

Or did she genuinely want to sit beside me?

I immediately turned to her, and she smiled, waving her hand. Camila poked me from behind and laughed softly.

"We also have another new student," Miss Olivia said, pointing towards Daniela.

Daniela stood up and walked to the front.

Immediately, all the students started whispering.

Wow, she’s beautiful.

She looks like a fairy.

Some boys were already taking an interest in her, while some girls wanted to befriend her.

"I’m Daniela González Pérez," she said, waving to the class.

Everybody waved back at her.

I was smiling while Sylvia leaned back in her chair, looking at me.

"Why are you looking at me?" I whispered to her.

"Why are you smiling?" she asked with a frown.

I shook my head and turned to the front where Daniela was standing.

Miss Olivia gestured for Daniela to go and sit down.

Daniela walked back to her seat. Immediately, everybody started whispering again, but louder this time.

Why are both of them sitting with that loser?

Why don’t they sit with us?

She thinks she’s still the big shot?

She thinks she’s still the almighty Amelia?

I took a deep breath and let it out.

Immediately, the principal entered the classroom, and everyone stood up and greeted him.

He gestured for everyone to sit down and looked around the class.

"Amelia Winston, come to my office immediately," he said before walking out of the classroom.

Camila leaned towards me.

"What happened, Lia?"
