Falsely Accused, I Started Plundering Monster Traits

Chapter 57: The Twin Moon Assassins’ Last Stand

BANG—!!

Lin Yan’s fist slammed squarely into the side of Nadir’s face. The old bandages wrapped around his head burst apart on impact, half his face warping under the blow as his entire head snapped violently to the side.

The terrifying lateral force poured through the punch and into Nadir’s body. His upper body was thrown sideways, both feet ripped straight off the ground.

But Lin Yan’s fist was still pressed against his face.

The punch wasn’t over yet.

Although Agility I was only a White Trait, it did far more than simply make him faster.

It was more like an invisible chain linking the strength of his entire body together, allowing each burst of force to flow seamlessly into the next and twisting all that scattered power into a single cord.

For Lin Yan, who already possessed strength far beyond that of an ordinary person, the improvement this brought was nothing short of terrifying.

More importantly, Agility I gave Lin Yan far finer control over his own body. Even in the middle of an all-out burst like this, his balance, footwork, and center of gravity could still keep perfectly in step with the punch, allowing a blow that should have ended on impact to keep driving forward.

And just as the force of that punch was about to run out, Lin Yan took a second step.

His foot planted diagonally into the ground, his weight surging forward with it. A fresh burst of force rose from beneath him, traveling through his leg, hips, and shoulder before feeding straight into the momentum that still remained from the first impact.

Nadir was already airborne, yet Lin Yan’s fist remained firmly pressed against his face. The moment that second step landed, Nadir didn’t even get the chance to fly free with the original impact. Instead, it was almost as though Lin Yan’s fist had pinned him in place, dragging his entire body sideways with it.

Lin Yan twisted at the waist and drove his shoulder forward.

His bent left arm began to extend, inch by inch. Every bit farther it straightened, the fist drove farther with it, carrying Nadir’s suspended body faster and faster through the air. His gray robe flared wide behind him, his legs trailing back until, from a distance, it almost looked as though his entire body were hanging from the fist buried in his face.

His arm kept extending.

His shoulder kept driving forward.

Until the last trace of bend disappeared from his elbow—

and his entire arm snapped straight.

In that instant, the force carried in by the second step finally reached its limit. Nadir’s already airborne body accelerated again, his gray robe snapping taut behind him.

And directly behind him, there was nothing left but the stone wall.

BOOM—!!

A thick, rancid stench exploded into the air.

Lin Yan immediately pulled his fist back.

The moment he did, cracks spidered outward across the stone wall behind Nadir. A heartbeat later, several loosened chunks of masonry broke free and clattered to the floor, spilling pale dust around the body.

Most of Nadir’s head was simply gone. Only the shattered lower jaw remained hanging from his neck, several strips of bandage dangling from it, smeared with scraps of dried flesh.

The smell flooded Lin Yan’s nose. His stomach lurched, and he bent forward with a dry heave.

"Ugh—fuck..."

The stench was sour and rotten, like spoiled meat and rotten eggs sealed together in a bag and left to ferment for months, only for someone to suddenly tear it open and blast all that trapped stench straight into his face.

Lin Yan grimaced and turned his head aside, sucking in a breath of slightly cleaner air.

No one behind him spoke for a while.

"H-he’s... just dead?" the old knight blurted out almost unconsciously as he stared at the remains of the legendary assassin slumped against the wall.

The knight farther back was still shielding Lucia, but the shield in his hand had already sagged halfway down.

At the doorway, Sahir still held his bow at full draw, his fingers resting on the string without releasing it.

"So strong..." Lucia murmured softly.

At the doorway, Sahir finally snapped out of what he had just witnessed.

His fingers abruptly released the string.

Whoosh—

The arrow came straight at him. Lin Yan tilted his head aside, and the arrowhead skimmed past his cheek.

He had barely started to move forward when Sahir’s hand was already reaching for the quiver on his back again.

This time, he pulled out three arrows at once.

One went onto the string while the other two were held between his fingers. The motion was so fast there was almost no pause at all—the instant the first arrow left the string, the second was already sliding into place.

Twang! Twang! Twang!

The three snaps of the bowstring nearly merged into one.

The first arrow went straight for his face, and Lin Yan slipped his head aside. The second immediately sealed off his right, forcing him to yank back the foot he had just stepped out with.

The third was already there.

On the left.

Lin Yan’s pupils tightened.

Both sides were almost sealed off at once. He simply bent his knees and threw himself awkwardly to the ground.

Whoosh—!

The third arrow passed just over the top of his head.

"Fuck!"

Lin Yan planted one hand on the ground and had only just lifted his head when he saw Sahir reaching into his quiver again.

Then he pulled out a whole handful.

Six arrows.

Six arrows were fanned between his fingers.

Lin Yan’s expression froze.

...You motherfucker.

Sahir was already starting to nock them.

Lin Yan didn’t even bother trying this time. He scrambled up on all fours, spun around, and threw himself to the side.

The old knight hadn’t even figured out what was happening before Lin Yan had already darted behind him, turning that suit of armor into ready-made cover.

"..."

The old knight turned his head and said something to him.

With a thought, Lin Yan unequipped Agility I and replaced it with [White Trait — Valerian Common].

"...The Saintess doesn’t have much time left."

The old knight’s voice finally became intelligible again.

Lin Yan’s expression shifted slightly.

He had almost forgotten what actually mattered.

They had already wasted enough time here, and there wasn’t much left. If he kept dragging this out with the bastard at the doorway, who knew if it would already be too late by the time he was done.

Lin Yan looked back at Sahir. The man was still holding his bow at full draw, six arrows clamped between his fingers, clearly with no intention of letting Lin Yan leave the old knight’s cover easily.

His gaze passed over the others and landed on the M2 propped against the wall farther back.

Lin Yan turned toward the old knight.

"Cover me for a second. I’m going to grab that—"

Halfway through the sentence, he suddenly stopped.

Wait.

Maybe he didn’t need to.

Lin Yan glanced down at his ballistic vest.

Didn’t he still have another gun on him?

The Real Man’s Revolver had been tucked against the inside of his vest the whole time. Ever since he’d gotten ordinary .44 Magnum rounds, he had kept the cylinder loaded, but he had never actually tried firing the revolver with them.

The thing was a rule weapon, and it came with a ridiculous number of restrictions, but Lin Yan had inspected it carefully after getting it.

Barrel, cylinder, hammer, trigger...

Structurally, it looked no different from an ordinary revolver.

If he didn’t activate the so-called "Real Man’s Duel," could he simply use it like a normal revolver?
