After examining the bread oven for a while, Ryan finally straightened.

He had been trying to calm the strange feelings that had been stirring inside him.

The closer he stood to Sora, the more difficult it became to concentrate.

So he deliberately took a step back.

Then, as if trying to redirect his thoughts, he asked another question.

"What was that shiny thing you were holding last night?"

Sora blinked.

"The shiny thing?"

She looked at him in confusion.

"What shiny thing?"

"The one you were holding at the hot spring yesterday."

Ryan’s expression remained serious.

"You were looking at it for a long time."

The moment he mentioned the hot spring, the beastmen watching from a distance froze.

Ace’s expression immediately darkened.

"I knew it!"

He clenched his teeth.

"So that’s why Ryan arrived late today. Those two were sneaking around behind our backs yesterday."

Xavier’s purple eyes became colder.

He hadn’t expected Ryan to be this secretive.

Lucas stared in disbelief.

"No way."

He couldn’t believe it.

"Ryan doesn’t seem like that kind of person."

Yet the evidence was right in front of them.

Yesterday, Ryan had been at the hot spring.

Sora had been there too.

And now Ryan was asking about the mysterious object he had seen her holding.

The others immediately began imagining all sorts of things.

Meanwhile, Sora finally understood what Ryan meant.

"Oh."

She nodded.

"You’re talking about the mirror."

Ryan’s eyes brightened.

"The mirror?"

"Yes. It’s in my room."

Sora pointed toward her hut.

"Do you want to see it?"

Ryan’s heart nearly jumped out of his chest.

Her room?

She was inviting him into her room?

For a moment, Ryan stood completely still.

Behind them, the expressions of the other beastmen became even darker.

Ace’s hands curled into fists.

Lucas stared at Ryan.

Damien’s eyes widened.

Even Lukan’s usual gentle smile disappeared.

Xavier’s purple eyes narrowed dangerously.

After a moment of silence, Ryan finally nodded.

"Okay."

The four beastmen watching from a distance almost exploded.

He agreed?!

Ace looked furious.

"I knew it."

Lucas’s expression was equally complicated.

"I thought Ryan was the one among us who had the least interest in Kaelira."

Ace glanced at him.

"So what?"

Lucas’s voice became sharper.

"Who told him to be so unlucky?"

He paused.

"Kaelira didn’t even choose our stones."

The words instantly silenced everyone.

Indeed.

Ryan hadn’t done anything wrong.

Sora had simply drawn his stone.

The other beastmen had no reason to complain.

Their opportunity had been lost because fate hadn’t chosen them.

Xavier remained strangely quiet.

He stood with his arms crossed, watching the two people in the distance.

At first glance, he seemed completely calm.

But Ace noticed something.

Xavier’s purple eyes had darkened.

His gaze was fixed intensely on Sora and Ryan.

Ace’s lips curled slightly.

So you aren’t unaffected either.

Among all the beastmen, Xavier was perhaps the most possessive.

He might remain silent, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t angry.

Meanwhile, Sora had no idea she was being watched.

She simply turned and began walking toward her hut.

Ryan followed.

For someone who was obsessed with technology, Sora wasn’t surprised that he had accepted her invitation.

Ryan’s curiosity toward new inventions was obvious.

He had always wanted to understand how unfamiliar things worked.

So, in Sora’s mind, inviting him into her room was nothing complicated.

He wanted to see the mirror.

She would show it to him.

More importantly, this was an excellent opportunity to increase his affection and attraction values.

If it had been someone else, Sora might have considered the implications of inviting a beastman into her room.

But Ryan was different.

At least, she thought he was.

The beast world had very different customs from the world Sora remembered.

Here, relationships between males and females were much more open.

Inviting a beastman into a female’s private room could easily be interpreted as an invitation to spend private time together.

If the beastman accepted, it could be understood as tacit agreement between the two.

Sora, however, wasn’t thinking about that.

She was thinking about mirrors.

Ryan was thinking about technology.

Neither of them realized how differently everyone else might interpret the situation.

Ryan also hadn’t noticed that several beastmen were secretly following and watching them.

As a water beastman, he was much more comfortable moving through water than observing activity on land.

His senses weren’t as sharp when it came to tracking land beastmen.

He simply followed Sora.

But Ryan’s mind was far from calm.

He had thought about today’s date repeatedly.

In fact, after returning from the hot spring the previous night, he had experienced something extremely unusual.

He had barely slept.

Every time he closed his eyes, certain memories returned.

The hot spring.

The moonlight.

Sora standing in the water.

The accidental closeness between them.

He had tried to dismiss those thoughts.

But they kept coming back.

Ryan frowned.

He didn’t understand himself.

Why had he suddenly become so aware of Kaelira?

He had once found her annoying.

He had even disliked being around her.

But that had gradually changed.

The first change had begun when he realized how intelligent she was.

Kaelira wasn’t simply a female who knew how to cook.

She could purify salt.

She could make pottery.

She could transform crude materials into useful objects.

She had figured out how to grind certain plants into a white powder for staple food.

She had invented new dishes.

She had created a bread oven.

And she understood things that even many intelligent beastmen couldn’t explain.

Every time Sora created something new, Ryan became curious.

He wanted to know how it worked.

He wanted to know what she would invent next.

He wanted to see what she would do tomorrow.

Then something even stranger happened.

He began looking forward to seeing her.

At first, Ryan didn’t notice.

He told himself that he was simply interested in her inventions.

That was all.

But gradually, he realized something was wrong.

Whenever someone questioned Sora’s abilities, Ryan would silently disagree.

When someone mocked her, he would think they were foolish.

Just wait.

You’ll understand soon enough.

He had repeatedly thought that whenever others underestimated her.

He knew that Sora would eventually prove them wrong.

And every time she succeeded, he felt an inexplicable sense of satisfaction.

Ryan eventually realized that his feelings were becoming unusual.

So he tried to suppress them.

He deliberately avoided looking at Sora.

He tried to stay away from her.

He told himself that he should focus on his own interests.

But none of it worked.

No matter how hard he tried, his attention kept drifting back toward her.

He would find himself secretly watching her.

He would notice what she was doing.

He would wonder what she was preparing.

He would listen whenever she explained something.

Then there was the cake.

Ryan remembered that day clearly.

At first, he had only intended to observe.

Sora was making something called a cake.

Ryan had been curious about the process.

He wanted to understand what she was doing.

But while watching, another thought appeared.

What does it taste like?

He had tried to suppress the thought.

But the aroma had been too tempting.

Eventually, his curiosity became impossible to ignore.

He wanted to taste it.

And when he finally did, he discovered something he hadn’t expected.

He liked it.

A lot.

Ryan’s thoughts became increasingly complicated.

Perhaps his feelings toward Sora had begun changing much earlier than he realized.

Maybe the food had only been the beginning.

Maybe the inventions had only been an excuse.

Perhaps he had simply found a reason to keep approaching her without admitting the real reason to himself.

Now, after the hot spring incident, it was becoming even harder to deny.

Ryan glanced at Sora as they walked.

She was completely unaware of the storm inside his mind.

She was simply excited to show him her mirror.

"Be careful," Sora said casually. "It’s made from something different from what you’re used to seeing."

Ryan’s attention immediately sharpened.

"How did you make it?"

Sora smiled.

"I’ll show you."

Ryan nodded.

His curiosity returned immediately.

But underneath that curiosity was something else.

Something he still couldn’t name.

He had once thought Sora was merely an interesting female.

Then she became someone he looked forward to seeing.

Now...

He wasn’t sure what she was becoming to him.

Behind them, the other beastmen watched in silence.

Ace’s expression was dark.

Lucas looked increasingly suspicious.

Damien was trying to figure out whether Ryan had actually been pretending all this time.

Lukan remained calm, though his eyes were thoughtful.

And Xavier’s gaze never left Sora.

The competition between them had already begun long ago.

But none of them had expected Ryan—the beastman who had seemed the least interested in Sora—to quietly become one of the most dangerous competitors.

And Sora?

She was still completely unaware.

As far as she was concerned, today’s date had just found its first activity.

Technology.

A mirror.

And perhaps, if she was lucky, a few more strategy points.

But Ryan was beginning to realize that the real subject of today’s date might not be technology at all.

It might be Sora herself.
