Fat and Ugly Villainess Wins Back Her Five Beast Husband
Chapter 161: Creating A Cure"Why would anyone poison the entire tribe?"
Sora didn’t answer those questions yet.
She had no proof.
"First, everyone needs to get rid of the contaminated salt they have eaten. Once you’ve done that, come here and drink the water I’ve prepared."
One of the beastmen looked frightened.
"Will it really help?"
"It will help restore what your bodies have lost."
Sora’s gaze hardened.
"But don’t consume any more of that salt."
The tribe members quickly followed her instructions.
It wasn’t pleasant, but they understood the seriousness of the situation.
After they had expelled the contaminated food from their stomachs, Sora distributed the sugar water.
One by one, the sick beastmen drank.
Minutes passed.
Then something remarkable happened.
The breathing of several beastmen became steadier.
The trembling stopped.
Those who had been curled over their stomachs slowly relaxed.
Even the drooling began to subside.
The improvement was obvious.
A wave of astonishment passed through the tribe.
Sora hadn’t merely identified the problem.
She had saved them.
Serena stared at her in disbelief.
"Kaelira can even save people..."
Several beastmen who had been quietly assisting Sora looked at one another with admiration.
Lucas watched Sora as she moved from person to person.
His thoughts were complicated.
Earlier, when Sora had glanced at him in the kitchen, he had believed she was giving him some kind of signal. He had even considered going to find her later.
But now, seeing her surrounded by sick beastmen, he realized that whatever thoughts he had been entertaining could wait.
This was more important.
Still, when he finally gathered enough courage to take a step toward her, a voice suddenly came from above.
"Kaelira, are you all right?"
Everyone froze.
The voice was calm but carried a strange confidence.
Sora slowly looked upward.
Standing above them was a handsome Red-fox beastman.
He wore a white beast-skin skirt, and a black obsidian headdress rested against his dark hair. His striking appearance immediately drew everyone’s attention.
Standing a short distance away the handsome beastman with round red fox ears perched on top of his head. His features were striking, and he’s beast skin skirt that contrasted sharply with his pale complexion. An obsidian headdress rested against his dark hair, giving him a fierce yet elegant appearance.
More importantly, he was smiling directly at her.
Sora stared at him for several seconds.
Who is this?
She was certain she had never met him before.
Could this be another unexpected romantic complication left behind by the original owner of this body?
Sora couldn’t help feeling a headache coming on.
The original owner might have been considered unattractive by the standards of this world, but that didn’t mean she hadn’t attracted attention before. After all, even Damien, the black bear beastman, had once been connected to her in some way.
And if this red fox was another one of the original owner’s admirers, then things were becoming troublesome.
Sora silently sighed.
His eyes were fixed entirely on Sora.
"Huh?"
The red fox beastman looked down at her.
"Are you hurt?"
The moment Nick Wilde appeared, the atmosphere around Sora changed.
Lucas’s expression immediately darkened.
Ace narrowed his eyes.
Xavier’s gaze became dangerously sharp.
Ryan, who had only recently returned from the hot spring with Sora, also turned his attention toward the newcomer.
Even the other beastmen who had been quietly helping Sora looked suspiciously at Nick.
Why had he appeared now?
And more importantly—
Why was his first concern Sora?
Nick Wilde jumped down from his position and landed gracefully near the group.
He looked around at the sick tribe members before returning his gaze to Sora.
"I heard that something happened here."
Sora nodded.
"The tribe was poisoned."
Nick’s expression changed.
"Poisoned?"
"Someone contaminated the salt."
Her words made the atmosphere even heavier.
Nick glanced toward the bag of salt in Sora’s hand.
Then he looked at the recovering beastmen.
"Do you know who did it?"
"Not yet."
Sora’s eyes narrowed.
"But I intend to find out."
The five beastmen standing behind her exchanged glances.
Their previous jealousy and rivalry had momentarily disappeared.
The entire tribe had been poisoned.
And someone had deliberately done it.
That meant this wasn’t merely an accident.
There was an enemy hiding among them.
At the same time, she suddenly remembered something else.
The system still hadn’t given her the reward for becoming the most beautiful female.
And there was also the reward she had supposedly earned after successfully increasing another beastman’s values.
Normally, the system delivered its rewards immediately.
What is wrong with this broken system?
Could it be preparing for another upgrade?
She was just about to ask the system what was happening when several figures suddenly moved in front of her.
Ace, Lucas, and Xavier immediately stepped forward.
Their bodies formed an almost perfect barrier between Sora and the red fox.
Their gazes toward the newcomer were sharp enough to make the atmosphere noticeably colder.
Sora blinked.
What are they doing?
The red fox didn’t seem particularly bothered.
Mark, who had been standing nearby, looked at the newcomer in surprise.
"Nick Wilde? Why did you come here?"
Sora’s eyebrows lifted.
Nick Wilde?
The name sounded familiar.
Then she remembered the piglet.
That pig had been a gift from this man.
So this was the red fox who had hunted it.
A small sense of relief washed over Sora.
At least Mark knew him.
She hadn’t encountered another mysterious beastman like Damien, someone who could suddenly appear and completely disrupt her plans.
Nick Wilde looked at Mark before answering honestly.
"I came to ask whether Sora liked the pig I hunted for her."
Sora stared at him.
His words were incredibly straightforward.
There was no hesitation.
No elaborate excuse.
No attempt to disguise his intentions.
The people of this primitive world really were direct.
If they liked someone, they simply said so.
If they wanted to give someone something, they gave it.
There was none of the complicated social maneuvering Sora had been accustomed to in her previous life.
By now, she had become accustomed to this way of communicating.
Since she had already eaten the pig, refusing to acknowledge the gift would have been rude.
So she nodded politely.
"It was delicious. Thank you."
Nick’s face immediately brightened.
"I’m glad you liked it."
He smiled widely.
"If you like it, I’ll hunt another one for you next time."
