Sora gritted her teeth and kept both hands firmly over the front of her body.

If she had to choose between exposing her front or her back, she would rather protect the front. Her face burned with embarrassment as she stood frozen behind the large rock, unable to decide what to do next.

Across the salt pit, the three beastmen stopped working at the exact same moment.

The scratching sound of claws digging through packed earth ceased.

The rustling of animal-skin sacks stopped.

Even the wind blowing through the cave seemed strangely quiet.

All three stared blankly.

"..."

"..."

"..."

"What is she doing?" Lucas muttered.

Xavier frowned so hard his brows nearly met. "Shouldn’t she put the skirt back on first?"

Ace simply blinked.

For a few long seconds, none of them understood Sora’s actions.

Sora herself knew exactly what she should have done.

If someone accidentally dropped their clothes, the obvious response was to pick them up immediately.

But everything had happened so suddenly.

Her first instinct had been to cover herself.

Only after calming down did she finally realize she was making the situation worse.

She looked down.

The animal-skin skirt had landed directly at her feet.

Just bend over...

Pick it up...

Pull it back on...

Simple.

Except...

The moment she imagined bending over, she froze again.

If she bent down, her backside would lift into full view.

The rock shielding her front would no longer protect her.

She could practically imagine the three beastmen standing behind her watching everything.

"No..."

Her ears turned red.

"That’s even worse..."

She clenched her fists before swallowing hard.

Finally, gathering every ounce of courage she possessed, she spoke in a tiny voice.

"I’m... going to pick up my skirt."

She paused awkwardly.

"C-Could you... close your eyes?"

The request echoed throughout the cave.

The three beastmen simultaneously looked speechless.

Who wanted to look?

They had only stared because the entire situation had caught them completely off guard.

Xavier was the first to react.

After all, this wasn’t the first awkward accident he’d witnessed involving Sora.

Without another word, he calmly turned around.

"I can’t see anything now."

He even closed his eyes for good measure.

Lucas looked utterly disgusted.

"As if I’d want to look."

He dramatically covered his eyes with one hand while facing another direction.

"I value my eyesight."

Ace sighed deeply before simply turning his entire back toward her.

"What a troublesome female..."

Although his tone sounded annoyed, he made no attempt to peek.

Seeing all three facing away, Sora finally released the breath she’d been holding.

"Thank goodness..."

She quickly crouched.

Grabbed the fallen skirt.

Pulled it up around her waist—

And then stopped.

"...Huh?"

Something felt wrong.

Very wrong.

The skirt...

It wouldn’t stay in place.

She looked down.

The waistband that had once fit snugly now hung loosely around her hips.

She pulled it tighter.

There was nearly an entire hand’s width of extra space.

For several seconds, Sora simply stared.

Then...

Her eyes widened.

"..."

"..."

"I..."

She grabbed both sides of the skirt.

Measured it again.

Another moment passed.

Suddenly—

"Hahaha!"

Her laughter burst through the cave.

"I lost weight!"

"Hahaha!"

"I actually lost weight!"

The joyful laughter echoed loudly against the stone walls.

She couldn’t stop smiling.

"So that’s why it fell!"

"My waist got smaller!"

She had spent days cooking, gathering food, hauling supplies, cleaning, and secretly using her newly enhanced water ability to accelerate fat burning.

She hadn’t expected such dramatic results overnight.

But now the proof was literally hanging from her waist.

The skirt had become too large.

Primitive animal-skin skirts had no buttons.

No belts.

No zippers.

They relied entirely on fitting tightly around the waist.

Now that her waist had slimmed, it simply slid right off.

"I can’t believe it!"

She laughed again.

"This is amazing!"

Using a leather cord, she quickly tied several knots around the waistband until the skirt fit securely once more.

Satisfied, she patted it proudly.

"Perfect."

Behind her...

The three beastmen slowly turned around after hearing her manic laughter.

Each wore nearly identical expressions.

"...Has she gone crazy?"

Lucas whispered.

Ace rubbed his forehead.

"She’s laughing after that happened?"

Xavier looked genuinely confused.

"Did she hit her head?"

Being accidentally exposed should have been mortifying.

Yet Sora looked happier than anyone they’d ever seen.

Then they remembered what she’d shouted.

"I lost weight."

Only now did they really look at her.

The difference wasn’t dramatic.

She was still noticeably plump compared to other females.

But...

Her face wasn’t as round as before.

Her cheeks had slimmed.

Her eyes no longer disappeared beneath swollen flesh.

Even her nose looked more defined.

Most noticeably—

Her waist had become narrower.

The curve between her hips and waist had begun to appear.

Her skin, once charcoal-black from layers of herbal dye, had gradually faded into a warm bronze complexion.

She still wasn’t conventionally beautiful.

But she no longer looked frightening.

She simply looked...

Ordinary.

And compared to before, ordinary was a tremendous improvement.

Lucas crossed his arms.

"So..."

"You really did lose weight."

Ace nodded slightly.

"I thought you looked different."

Xavier glanced at the newly tied knot around her waist.

"No wonder your skirt fell."

Sora grinned proudly.

"It’ll keep happening too."

The three exchanged puzzled looks.

"...Why are you so happy about that?"

"Because it means all my hard work is paying off!"

She pumped her fist enthusiastically.

"I’ll keep getting healthier."

None of them understood why reducing body weight made her so excited.

Still...

Seeing how brightly she smiled...

None of them said anything discouraging.

The delicious aroma drifting from the clay pot interrupted everyone’s thoughts.

Sora sniffed the air.

"Oh!"

"The salt-baked chicken!"

She hurried to the fire.

Lifting the shell lid released a cloud of fragrant steam.

An irresistible smell instantly filled the cave.

Golden chicken skin glistened beneath layers of coarse salt.

The banana leaves had trapped every drop of juice inside.

Even Lucas unconsciously swallowed.

Ace’s ears twitched.

Xavier stepped closer.

Moments earlier, everyone had been awkwardly avoiding eye contact.

Now...

Food had become the only thing occupying their thoughts.
