Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2562: Looking Up at Where She Is

No one knows if it’s because she was too tired, but while humming a lullaby, Jasmine Yale dozed off in a daze.

The sound of thunder accompanied by a phone ringing startled her awake!

Jasmine flinched, patted her chest in fright, and walked wearily to the bedside to pick up the phone.

It was the same number from before.

Jasmine hung up.

A message was immediately sent from that number: I’m downstairs at your place.

Jasmine froze, clutching the phone tightly, her fingertips gradually turning white, and her eyes exuded an icy chill, devoid of warmth.

The rain outside continued, the sound of it was loud.

Jasmine bit her lip tight, her gaze carrying a hint of emptiness and another of haze, like a veil of mist under the smoky rain, indistinct and vague.

She clenched her lips and her heart started to race, gripping her phone tightly.

After a long time, she stood up and walked to the balcony.

Through the torrential rain, by the lamplight, she saw a blurry figure standing by the roadside. He held an umbrella, but the wind and rain were overwhelming, one umbrella was hardly sufficient.

Vaguely she saw he was wearing the same outfit as earlier tonight, but with an additional black suit jacket.

As she stood by the window, he also looked up.

The window was covered in rain.

Her view was so blurry, she could hardly see him, but he was indeed standing downstairs.

Downstairs, it seemed like he was saying something, but Jasmine certainly couldn’t hear.

A few seconds later, Jasmine’s phone rang.

"Jasmine, come down." His voice mixed with the sounds of wind, thunder, and rain, seeming rather powerless.

"The rain is heavy, I’m afraid of the cold."

"Summer... just wear a jacket, that shouldn’t be your excuse."

"Do I need to remind you? You’re married; isn’t that reason sufficient?"

"I have something to tell you."

"Just say it over the phone, it’s the same."

"It’s not the same," Sylvan Cheney said calmly, "If you don’t come down, I’ll have to wait in the rain until you do. Whenever you come down, I’ll wait until then. You will come down eventually, right?"

"Sylvan Cheney, you’re a madman!"

Sylvan didn’t speak again, but looked up at the spot where she was, in the hazy rain, he could only see Jasmine’s blurry figure.

The light wasn’t bright.

Sylvan didn’t hang up the call, just calmly watched upstairs.

In the end, Jasmine hung up the phone.

She picked out an off-white trench coat from the wardrobe and put it on, changing into a pair of leather shoes.

Her outfit looked strange; silk pajamas inside, trench coat and leather shoes outside. But fortunately, it was night; no one would see her peculiar attire.

She didn’t bother to comb her hair, picked up an umbrella, and walked out of her home.

It was late and quiet, everywhere was silent, but the thunder and rain were distinctly audible.

At such a time, no one was moving around.

She knew if she didn’t go down, he would certainly keep standing until she went down.

He was capable of doing that.

The elevator wasn’t busy, arriving at the bottom in just a dozen seconds, with a "ding," the door opened in the dimly lit corridor.

Her leather shoes tapped softly in the corridor.

Reaching the end of the corridor, she stood under the eaves of the floor, opened the umbrella but didn’t go forward, because... she saw Sylvan Cheney.

He was holding an umbrella in one hand, with the other hand in his pocket of the trousers, his cold expression becoming even colder in the rainwater, like a layer of light frost.

The moment she appeared at the corner, he saw her, and his gaze followed her steps slowly.
