Verity:
I didn’t even know whether they had spoken to Ragnar or not.
They simply told me that I had to go pack my things immediately and move into the mansion.
To be fair, it made sense.
Roman had been messaging me since that morning, saying he wanted to spend the weekend with me.
In fact, he wanted to take a week’s leave so he could stay with me day and night.
I was really worried because I had started suspecting what he was actually coming for.
My virginity.
I still hadn’t been physical with him, and now it felt like he was running out of patience.
Which was terrifying because if he blackmailed me, I would have no choice but to give in.
Anyway, when I walked out of the guest room, I immediately noticed the way Jenna was looking at me.
The last time, she had been very sweet to me.
Today, something felt different.
She didn’t have the same welcoming expression she had before.
Instead, she looked upset with me, as though I had personally done something to hurt her.
Well, that was something for me to think about later.
I immediately started packing my things.
I didn’t have that much stuff here, anyway.
All my clothes and everything else were packed in no time.
Just as Gigi had said, her warriors packed everything up and loaded it into two cars.
"So, this is your home?"
My body immediately tensed, and I turned around to see Theodore.
I had no idea the brothers were coming.
Jaguar wasn’t around, probably because Gigi had asked him to stay with her, and he had.
"Yeah. My safe place," I murmured, looking around as I hugged myself.
"Well, it’s a shame I was never invited. Not even for a coffee," he remarked, his hands tucked into his jeans pockets.
"I just want to know something, Theodore," I said, stepping aside as a warrior carried one of the boxes past me.
"What is it?" he asked.
I slowly ran my finger along the console table, keeping my eyes lowered instead of looking directly at him.
"What did Jaguar tell you about my personal life?"
As I asked the question, I raised an eyebrow and looked at him from the corner of my eye.
I watched Theodore stare at me in shock, as though he was trying to decide whether he should tell me the truth or lie.
"Why don’t you ask him?"
That was all Theodore said.
Then I realised disappointment was all I was going to get.
I didn’t want that.
I wanted them wrapped around my fingers.
When I asked them questions, I wanted them to answer me without thinking about anyone else.
"Okay," I replied.
"So, you’re going to stay at our place? That means we’ll be seeing each other a lot." Theodore attempted to joke.
But I didn’t give him another second of my attention.
I walked over, picked up my bag and purse, and slung the strap over my shoulder.
"Are you upset with me?"
He stepped into my path as I was about to walk out the door.
"There isn’t any relationship between us for us to be upset with each other, Theodore. You’re my boss. One of my bosses," I corrected myself with a scoff.
"Anyway, yes, I’ll be working from your home, sir."
I spoke bitterly, watching the offended look cross his face because I wasn’t giving him the reaction he wanted.
Then he stepped aside because it was obvious I wasn’t going to stop.
As soon as I got into the car and Theodore started getting in as well, I cleared my throat.
"I don’t think you should be sitting in the same car as me. I don’t want any rumours. You know I have a boyfriend."
I was so upset that I decided to humiliate Theodore that way.
Once again, he looked genuinely hurt.
Well, if I could be disappointed, then so could he.
I leaned over and pulled the door shut.
He was left standing outside as the car pulled away.
About an hour later, I arrived at the mansion.
Now my heart was pounding.
I had actually worked very hard for this moment.
Now that I had finally made it here, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I was going to drive them all crazy while living under the same roof.
I already knew they would be standing outside my room every night, keeping watch.
As soon as I stepped out of the car, Gigi was already waiting for me.
She smiled and gestured for me to follow her.
The guest wing was currently occupied by Lady Lucille and the others, so she led me to the left side of the mansion, where another wing was located.
It was simply known as the left wing of the house.
It had the same layout as the other guest wing.
There was a short hallway with mirrors and glass windows on both sides overlooking the gardens.
Beyond that was a living room, once again surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
The curtains had been drawn open.
Then there were two bedrooms.
She gestured for me to take the one that matched Lady Lucille’s room.
"And you can use the other room as your office," she said, pointing to the one right next to it.
I stepped inside and immediately noticed how beautiful it was.
I turned to her and smiled.
"That’s really kind of you, Gigi. I don’t think I deserve this."
I kept up the façade that I believed my brother had wronged her so badly that I didn’t deserve her kindness.
"Oh, come on. Don’t be like that. Let’s forget about it, okay?" she urged, giving my hand a gentle squeeze.
"I hope I can, but I will only when you do," I replied.
There was an unspoken understanding between us.
Neither of us said outright what we were talking about, yet we both understood exactly what the other meant.
"Anyway, since you’re feeling so guilty–"
Gigi glanced towards the entrance to make sure no one else was in the wing.
Then she lowered her voice.
"I want you to do something for me."
There it was.
