Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All
Chapter 221-Fighting The Lust Inside MeTheodore:
Theodore, the night was so hard for me to get through.
Jaguar and I attended the meeting, and afterward we went back to our hotel rooms.
We agreed to meet in the hotel lounge for dinner.
By the time I was ready and stepped into the elevator, another woman joined me.
She kept flashing me smiles. She wore a white dress, and her short brunette hair framed her face beautifully.
She really was stunning.
I caught a glimpse of her. The little mole beneath her lip made her even prettier.
When the elevator doors opened, I stepped aside and let her leave first.
She turned briefly, gave me another smile, adjusted her handbag on her shoulder, and walked away.
It was the look she gave me. It felt like she was sending me signals.
Throughout the elevator ride, she kept smiling and glancing at me as though she wanted to say something, only to stop herself each time.
A few months ago, I would have gone crazy over her right there in the elevator.
But this version of me was different.
There was a lot on my mind.
My physical desires had grown stronger, but they were for only one person.
Even though I could have pursued that woman, I suddenly remembered the way Verity had pushed me away, and all my confidence crumbled.
"You took your time," Jaguar remarked as I joined him for dinner.
I found Jaguar already waiting at a table near the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the pack.
The soft glow of crystal chandeliers reflected off the polished marble floors.
Around us, wealthy guests carried on quiet conversations while the faint notes of a pianist drifted through the elegant dining room.
I slid into the chair across from him, adjusted the cuffs of my shirt, and reached for the neatly folded napkin.
A server appeared almost immediately, offering us menus and filling our water glasses.
Neither of us spent long looking.
We already knew what we wanted.
After placing our orders, we handed the menus back and settled into our seats as the server disappeared toward the kitchen.
The aroma of grilled chicken, butter, and fresh herbs drifted through the dining room while the conversations around us continued in low murmurs.
Once we had sat down and our food had arrived, we started eating.
Throughout the meal, I noticed Jaguar glancing past me before looking back at me with an amused smile.
"What is it?" I asked, returning the smile.
"There’s been a woman checking you out," he commented, gesturing behind me with his fork.
"Oh." I chuckled softly but didn’t turn around right away.
"Well?" Jaguar pressed, cutting into his food. "Are you going to do something, or are you just going to ignore it?"
I finally followed his gaze to the woman behind me.
Turning slightly, I found her sitting with a friend, smiling back at me.
It was the same woman from the elevator.
I returned the smile, but the moment I did, reality hit me.
There was a woman waiting for me at my mansion who wouldn’t even let me get close to her.
Yet I knew she was the one for me.
And then there were women like this.
With a snap of my fingers, she would probably end up in my lap.
I just didn’t understand why Verity resisted me so fiercely.
Why was it so hard for me to be with the one woman I actually wanted?
I looked back at Jaguar and shook my head.
"Um, no. I’m not really in the mood," I replied, taking another bite of my food.
"Well, that’s new," Jaguar remarked, leaning over the table as he studied me, waiting for an explanation.
"Have you ever come across someone who’s so charming, so gorgeous, so unreachable, so far away, that suddenly your mood, the air, everything begins to depend on her and how she treats you?" I asked, setting my fork on the edge of my plate while resting my free arm on the table.
Jaguar held my gaze for a moment before leaning back in his chair.
He rested both forearms on the table, his expression growing thoughtful as he genuinely considered my question.
I watched him drift into his own thoughts before he gave a small shrug.
"I guess," he murmured under his breath.
"It’s the worst feeling, isn’t it?" I asked, picking up my fork again.
He gave a quiet nod before reaching for his wine glass.
That was when I realized I’d been so wrapped up in my own problems that I’d forgotten my brothers had their own.
With everything that had been going on, we’d somehow drifted apart, and I hated that.
"You tell me what’s going on in your life," I said, pointing a finger at him with a grin.
"Nothing much," he replied with a casual shrug.
"I mean, there has to be something going on in your life," I commented, trying to show a little more interest this time.
"Are you talking about my romantic life?" Jaguar asked, a faint smile lingering on his lips.
"Come on," I urged. "Tell me about Aster."
The moment I mentioned her name, I watched Jaguar’s smile slowly fade.
He took another sip of his wine before drawing a slow, steady breath.
"Things are rough with Aster, aren’t they?" I asked, watching him glance at me before lowering his eyes to the glass in his hand.
"We ended things again," he replied, taking another sip of his wine.
"Oh, I’m sorry," I said, watching him smile and shake his head.
"But I’m not."
The confidence in his voice caught me off guard.
"Well, that explains why she’s been blowing up my phone asking about you," I said, pulling my phone from my pocket and placing it on the table in case he wanted to see the messages.
"She’s crazy, Theodore. Block her," he replied, setting his wine glass down with a quiet clink. "I don’t feel for her anymore. The love is completely gone from between us."
