Gigi:
"No, it’s fine. I get it. Your grandmother definitely telepathed you, right?" I remarked, sucking in a deep breath.
"Come inside with me. It’s nothing like what you’re thinking." Ragnar tried to approach me, but I pulled away from him again.
I didn’t even know why it was hurting me so much.
I didn’t want a stalker. I had no interest in that.
But now the news had already spread everywhere, or was about to.
The stalker everyone thought was after the Alpha King’s girlfriend was actually after his secretary.
Because she was so special that the brothers had lied to me again and again just so they could go and protect her.
And now, because she had been bullied, they wanted to start an investigation into my own brother.
I could see my entire throne, everything I had worked for, shattering before my eyes.
And the worst part was that it wasn’t happening all at once, with one sudden blow.
It was like a wall slowly crumbling, one small piece at a time.
And somehow, that hurt even more.
"I’m just—I’m just sad because do you guys have any idea how lonely you made me feel the other night by hiding everything from me?" I said, not even realizing I was showing such pathetic emotions.
I usually kept myself very calm in front of them so they wouldn’t think I was a burden.
But I guessed this was where they had started to think I couldn’t be hurt.
This was when they had started taking me for granted.
Because they thought I would never mind.
So they thought it was okay, they could treat me however the fuck they wanted to.
"I was completely alone after I had planned an event for you guys. For your people," I continued, pointing toward the garden. "I stood there all alone," I added, gulping back my tears. "You were sick. You weren’t in the mood. And you just lied to me and left."
I pointed first at Jaguar and Theodore, then at Ragnar.
"Gigi, you need to calm down." Ragnar immediately approached me, and this time, he held my hand, refusing to let go.
"No, Ragnar, please. I need to be alone right now because I think it’s getting to be too much for me. I think this place is getting too crowded. I’m not needed anymore."
With that, I slipped my hand free from his.
I began to feel my throat tightening.
I was having trouble breathing, and I didn’t want to break down sobbing like this in front of them.
But what could I do? I couldn’t hold it back anymore.
Suddenly, my tears spilled over, and my breathing became ragged.
"She’s having an anxiety attack," Theodore muttered through clenched teeth as he rushed over and wrapped an arm around me.
I slapped his arm away.
"No, please," I managed with great difficulty.
Then I rushed toward my car and got into the back seat.
The brothers started coming after me, but the driver had already started the engine because I felt like I could die at any moment.
In the back seat of the car, I started crying as loudly as I could.
The driver tried to check on me a few times, but after I yelled at him, he stopped.
I hated it when these fucking omegas or maids started acting like royals needed their comfort or sympathy.
All they needed to do was shut the fuck up and let the person cry alone, but no.
Somewhere along the line, I guessed they had started using opportunities like this to get close to royals.
I cried the whole way home.
And the minute I stepped into my house, I dropped to my knees and began to cry.
"Oh, what the fuck is going on?"
I had no clue Oliver was there. He rushed over and picked me up.
The minute I faced him, my breath hitched.
"What?" he asked, looking like he had seen a ghost because of the way I gasped at the sight of him.
"You wanted to date Verity, right?" I questioned, curling my toes as I watched him frown at me, confused about where this conversation was coming from.
"Well, good news for you. She has already told the Alpha King brothers that you used to bully her, and they want to start an investigation into your fucking background," I blurted out in one breath, telling him about what the evil Verity had done.
I mean, if he really thought she had forgotten about the past, then he was wrong.
The only reason she had stayed silent was because she felt guilty about what her brother had done to me.
Other than that, the minute she got a chance, she attacked.
She showed and proved that poor people, whenever they got even a little power, used it against rich people.
It was like an "eat the rich" kind of thing, and she was doing the same.
Oliver’s eyes widened upon hearing that because, well, let’s just be honest, my brother wasn’t a saint either.
He had a plethora of fucked-up things in his past.
So, well, it was safe to say that the minute they opened an investigation into him, he was going to come out looking really bad.
"This is bad. Why would they do that? You said Ragnar was in love with you, and the other two treated you like their own sister."
The minute Oliver said that, I slapped his face the way siblings sometimes do.
"What?" he exclaimed, rubbing his cheek.
"Don’t ever say that. They’re not my siblings. And no, I didn’t give up. I’ll try my best to stop it, but you better cover your tracks. You better—"
I stopped. I couldn’t breathe anymore.
My brother immediately helped me sit down on the couch, got me some water, and did everything he could to help, but every time I remembered the way the brothers had behaved toward me over the last few days, I felt so wronged.
They had no right.
Nobody had any right to treat me like that, to neglect me after everything I had done for them.
