Verity:
Continuation Of Flashback:
She quickly looked away before rushing toward us.
Oliver had moved behind the table, and as his mother passed him, she slapped him across the face before hurrying over to pick up my clothes and shove them toward me.
"Look away, you fucking rascals!" she yelled at both her son and her husband, who finally looked away now that she was there.
"And you, get dressed," she yelled at me.
My hands were shaking as I put my clothes back on.
Once I was fully dressed, I stared at Stella, who was rubbing her hands anxiously as she looked between her husband and son.
"I did nothing. She offered us a show for money. And, well, I only agreed because it made us feel like men after what her brother did to Gigi," Mr. Gavin lied as he walked over to grab his glass of wine.
He looked frustrated that he hadn’t been able to do what he intended.
My eyes dropped to his pants, and oh my goodness, I had survived. He seemed to be very aroused.
Then there was Oliver. He kept stealing glances at his mother.
"Exactly. She started stripping, so we punished her like that," Oliver lied again.
"You think I’m a fool?" I heard Stella grunt. "I just cannot believe my husband would do something like that. She grew up in front of you."
Stella paused for a moment, reminding her husband of the relationship he and I used to have.
"You’re exaggerating it. She started to undress, asking us what she could do for us to pay her. So we taught her a lesson. That is it. You don’t need to repeat it all," Mr. Gavin yelled at Stella, who closed her eyes and looked away.
The way she anxiously rubbed her palms together made it clear that she didn’t believe them, but she didn’t seem to have any other choice.
"Leave," she told me.
I nodded, grabbed my purse, and stumbled back.
"No, wait," Gavin yelled. "She’s not leaving like that. In fact, I want her in my bedroom right now."
As Gavin said that, his wife stared at him, her eyes widening.
"Dad, please, come on." Oliver finally snapped out of it.
Then he realized that his father’s intention wasn’t simply to humiliate me.
There was something more behind his eyes.
"What? She thinks her brother can traumatize my daughter, and I won’t do anything? This is an eye for an eye."
Mr. Gavin was lying.
He was planning to use his daughter’s condition as an excuse to fulfill his own desires, and I swear I could tell that even Stella and his own son understood it.
"Then let me do it," Oliver said, pointing at his chest.
"Why would you do it? I don’t want you to ruin your life while some fat pig accuses you of something. You know what will happen if she proves that you did something to her, right? The council leaders will convince you to marry her."
Mr. Gavin approached his son, and the two started to argue.
Stella turned toward me and gestured for me to leave.
I rushed toward the door, but the warrior was standing there.
This time, however, he looked down and stepped aside.
When I turned around, I saw that Stella had gestured to him to let me go.
I rushed out, feeling hopeless.
They had never intended to pay me.
It hit me hard. What the fuck had I been thinking?
Why had I expected them to help me or keep their end of the bargain?
And I began to leave, stumbling and tripping along the road.
I couldn’t understand what had suddenly happened.
Those few moments inside that mansion felt like a nightmare.
I kept breaking into a sweat whenever I remembered the way those people had looked at me.
After walking only a few steps, I couldn’t take it anymore.
I dropped to my knees, crying and wailing loudly.
"Did you not see what happened?" I looked up at the sky and yelled at the Moon Goddess. "Didn’t God ask you to protect us?"
I called her out, reminding her that she would have to answer to God as well for failing to see what was happening to her people.
"They didn’t just strip my brother. Today, they stripped me too. When is this going to stop?"
I cried, scratching my arms and face with my nails.
While I was crying on my knees, I heard a car approaching from behind me.
I immediately stopped crying and turned my head around.
The moment I saw it, I realized I needed to get away from there.
I got to my feet and started running.
However, I was so unfit that I tripped again, landing face down as the car stopped right in front of me.
Then someone else stepped out of the car.
The minute Oliver started rushing toward me, I began to run away.
But he already had an advantage because I had tripped before he arrived.
He quickly grabbed me by the back of my neck and pulled me toward the car, almost dragging me inside.
"No!" I screamed, scratching his arms and chest, anywhere I could reach.
"Ah, you fucking bitch!" he yelled when one of the scratches went a little too deep.
He slapped me across the face, knocking me onto the road.
Then he grabbed my arms again.
This time, he turned me around and held me from behind, tying my hands together so I couldn’t escape or fight back.
Then he began pushing me into the car.
I tried to stop him by bracing my legs against the car, but it was no use.
He pushed me forward, and that was when I felt his grip on me suddenly loosen.
The minute I was free from his grasp, I turned around and saw a man standing behind him.
He had hit Oliver on the back of the head with a large rock, knocking him unconscious.
I got up and ran away from there as fast as I could.
While I was running, a message popped up on my phone.
I was nearing the hospital when I finally opened it, and what I read shocked me.
"One day, I’ll be deep inside you. I swear on my children’s lives and on the Moon Goddess."
The problem was that the message had been sent by none other than Mr. Gavin himself.
