Gigi:

That night, I decided not to change my ways.

What had happened to me was completely wrong.

The way everyone had treated me, especially Rochelle, made me furious. By then, I had also realized that if I didn’t take a step now, it would soon be too late.

I had to get Jaguar under control before Rochelle sank her claws any deeper into him.

Once Rochelle managed to get engaged to him, or even had the arrangement settled between their families, controlling him would become impossible for me. She wouldn’t let him come anywhere near me, and if she managed to get into his head, my reputation would be completely ruined.

Rochelle knew far too much about me.

I kept remembering something Mama had told me when I first started dating Ragnar and we began talking about getting engaged. She had told me to cut off all my old friends.

I wished I had listened to her. If I had, I wouldn’t be dealing with this now.

No matter what I did, my biggest concern was making sure Jaguar and Rochelle’s engagement didn’t become official. I had no idea how Rochelle planned to make it happen, and I was certain Jaguar wouldn’t willingly agree to it.

Still, seeing the way things were going, I was afraid Ragnar might convince him.

There was only one person I could turn to. Someone who had recently entered our lives, someone Rochelle had told me a great deal about.

And, conveniently, that same person knew just as much about Rochelle.

I stood outside his door and knocked.

He opened it almost immediately, looking as though he had been about to leave. His eyes were an unusual shade of brown, and they narrowed slightly when he saw me.

Then he stepped aside and let me into the room.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

Of course he recognized me.

Flashback.

I knew Verity and my brother would be spending the night together. At the same time, though, I had to find a way to keep Rochelle under control.

For that, meeting her sister was essential.

I had dinner plans with Jaguar that night, along with a few other things afterward. I was almost certain Theodore would show up too, but before any of that happened, I needed to resolve this matter.

I had told Rochelle to send her sister, Diana, to my house. I promised I would interview her for an hour and then help her.

Now Diana was sitting in my guest room, eating snacks.

She was very cute and innocent-looking.

I didn’t trust Verity enough to rely on her completely. I wasn’t even sure anymore whether she was still a virgin, considering she had already had a boyfriend.

Whatever the case, I wasn’t willing to put all my eggs in one basket.

I had to be careful.

That was why I had invited someone else as a backup plan.

"I didn’t know I’d be coming to the Alpha King’s girlfriend’s house," Rocky remarked, smoking casually.

The moment I saw him, my mood soured.

He was handsome, but he was also a cocky, arrogant bastard. Mean, abusive, unfaithful, and generally one of the worst people I had ever met.

He had dated Rochelle before. When Rochelle tried to steal money from her parents’ company, she gave some of it to Rocky for safekeeping.

He took the money, abandoned her, and disappeared.

Things between them had been ugly ever since.

Sometimes he threatened to tell her parents that she had stolen the money. Other times, he found new ways to blackmail her.

That was exactly why we had given him Jenna last time.

This time, however, I had contacted him myself.

"I put something in her snacks," I told him. "There are cameras inside. You know what you have to do."

I had no interest in dragging the conversation out.

"Yeah, I know," he replied, clicking his tongue and rubbing his hands together eagerly.

I had completely rearranged the guest room for that night. I had moved Diana in there specifically so that if any footage ever became public, no one would recognize the room as belonging to my house.

"Go, then," I told him, pointing toward the door.

Whatever I had slipped into Diana’s food had left her too impaired to properly understand what was happening.

I went into the living room and started flipping through a magazine.

A short while after Rocky entered the room, I heard sounds of a struggle. Eventually, the resistance quieted.

He stayed inside for nearly an hour.

After that, I had to knock because I needed the room cleared before Theodore and Jaguar arrived. I also planned to restore everything to its original arrangement the next morning.

Rocky came out adjusting his clothes and immediately reached for a cigarette.

"That was amazing," he said excitedly. "She really is perfect."

"You didn’t take her virginity, right?" I asked.

He nodded quickly.

"Yeah, yeah. Don’t worry."

He rubbed his hands together. "I got enough material to blackmail her. So I can make her come to the river whenever you want. For how long?"

"Fifteen days," I replied, rolling my eyes.

"Fine. Then it’s done. I have all the footage. I’ll blackmail her."

After that, we parted ways.

End of flashback.

"I called her to the river tonight," Rocky explained. "She was so terrified that she actually came."

I followed him into his living room of the cabin.

He had built the small place somewhere in the mountain range. Since the land wasn’t occupied, he was able to stay there without anyone bothering him.

Rocky was a loner, and not the harmless kind.

He hated people coming near him almost as much as he hated being around them. Every so often, he disappeared into the cabin for two or three days just to stay away from everyone.

I had originally learned about the place through Rochelle.

Later, when Rocky came to meet Diana, he confirmed the location himself.

"Well, you were right. She really was a virgin," Rocky commented, grinning broadly.
