Alaric glanced at the Divine Contract Scroll and signed it, while Kyle did the same.

It only contained the terms they had discussed and a clause about the quality of the magic items.

Once Alaric left the Arcanum Magic Tower, he regrouped with Alice and sat in the carriage.

"Where to?"

"Back to the mansion."

Alaric only cared about getting to the Knight realm now that everything was done.

There were no opportunities near House Orlen apart from the mana crystal deposit, at least not till the part he had read in Tales of Golden Era.

As for the rest of the opportunities, he would need greater strength since they all lay beyond House Orlen’s territory.

The mine was technically outside the House Orlen’s territory but it was still close by, so that didn’t count.

Approximately an hour into their journey, a message arrived on his communication device.

Alaric noticed that it was from Evan.

"Young Lord, I managed to successfully carry out the task given by you a few hours ago, but since I was tired, I thought of resting before informing you.

"In that period of rest, I received an influx of memories once again. However, the Evan from those memories exterminated the bandits in a different way from how I did it.

"I couldn’t distinguish it when I first received the memories about fighting you but now I can see it clearly. The Evan in the memories used a completely different set of fighting styles to exterminate the bandits.

"After absorbing those memories, I can feel that my combat prowess has increased. Young Lord, I know I’ve asked this before but could this be some kind of trap?"

Alaric’s eyebrows raised when he read the message.

Good shit. This is what it means to be a protagonist huh. Is this the world’s way of compensating him for losing the System?

The memories might not be as straightforward as the System’s rewards, but they are hardly insignificant. Not to mention I still don’t know if this is all. He may get even better stuff from memories down the line for all I know.

His sight lingered on Evan’s message for a while.

As for the protagonist’s concern about it being a trap? Alaric ignored it.

Evan didn’t know that he only received memories after completing a quest. From Evan’s point of view, the timing of memories were random, and could be a trap, but Alaric knew the reason so he had no worries.

He placated Evan that everything had been checked and this was just his personal fortune.

There were many such cases of opportunity descending upon fated individuals, therefore Evan quickly accepted the explanation.

If there was no one targeting him or the House Orlen then it really seemed like his personal opportunity for growth.

After dealing with Evan, Alaric exhaled lightly.

He then checked up on the dragon, and got the reply that he had reached Tikka Town but was in the process of gathering information.

Clearly, the task of eliminating the hidden slave market would take some time.

Alaric couldn’t wait for Zephyr to complete the quest, because if the System still followed its own basic protocols mentioned in Tales of Golden Era, then waiting for him at level five was the ’Shop’ feature!

Yes! He would be able to buy various things from the shop which couldn’t even be found in the kingdom once he reached level five.

He was currently at level four, with three levels from Evan and one from Zephyr.

When Alaric reached that train of thought, he narrowed his eyes.

I really need to find more geniuses. I will be able to complete more quests in a lesser amount of time if my System connects to more geniuses.

That way I can unlock the various functions of the System even faster.

Alaric was already looking forward to unlocking the ’Shop’ function.

That would be another massive boost to his power.

Of course, it wasn’t free.

The currency used in that shop came from Quests.

Up till level five, the way the system looked at quest completion could be said to be lenient. Sort of like a trial.

Once he reached level five, the completion of following quests would start being graded.

The listed reward when the quest was issued assumed an A grade upon quest completion.

According to what Alaric knew from volume one of Tales of Golden Era, there was one more grade above A. That was S.

If one managed to get a rating of S grade upon quest completion, they would get additional rewards on top of the original mentioned reward, which was for A grade.

Below A grade was B, C, D, E and F.

B and C grades still awarded the original reward, but the next quest would be delayed, with C causing a longer delay than B.

A D grade replaced the original reward with an inferior one, while an E grade gave no reward at all. Both, however, would have no delay before the next quest was issued.

Lastly came F. Not only would one receive no reward, but all additional System functions, including the Shop, would remain disabled until a future quest was completed with at least an A grade.

Alaric was wondering what would happen in case of F grade now that the System was issuing quests to multiple individuals.

What if one genius ended up with F grade only for some other genius to immediately complete a quest with S grade?

Just as he was in his thoughts, his communicator vibrated. A message had arrived.

Just one look and Alaric’s expression darkened.
