[20 coins]

It seems I need to hurry up.

Alaric thought while glancing at the item he wanted in the System Shop.

Divine Inspectors had special eyes. One of their functions was to detect if someone was lying.

However, those special eyes did not detect objective falsehoods. They detected whether the target was knowingly lying.

If the target wholeheartedly believed the sun to be square then the special eyes wouldn’t be able to detect that the target was lying even if the sun wasn’t a square.

However, Alaric knew he would be lying if things were pushed to the point of the Divine Inspectors personally questioning him. To defend against their special eyes, this object was absolutely crucial.

Coins were the System’s currency one could use in System Shop.

One of the ways to earn them was through the system quests.

Alaric knew of only two metrics that influenced the coin rewards from quests: difficulty and grading. Both were directly proportional to the number of coins rewarded.

The higher the difficulty, and better the grading, the more the coins he would receive.

I hope Zephyr and Evan can quickly complete quests.

Alaric thought, and closed the System Shop.

He then navigated to the talents panel.

[Talent Point: 25]

He had received five through completing the missions and twenty by taking Alice, who was a ’Special Entity’, under him.

Talent Points, as their name suggested, increased the talent of the user depending on where they were used.

[Body]

[Magic]

[Official]

Currently, Body path is the most obvious choice.

Alaric knew that a qualitative change occurred at every twenty five points invested.

He was only hesitating because this body he had transmigrated to seemed to have an absolutely bottom tier talent in all three paths.

Since he planned to eventually practice all three paths, would it not be better to raise the talent of all three?

But splitting the points would prevent him from reaching the next qualitative threshold in any of them.

He shook his head a few moments later.

Nope, I need more power. I’ll think about my talent in other paths when I actually start practicing them.

Since I currently need power on the body path, that is a correct decision.

Alaric didn’t wait any longer, investing all twenty five points into the body path.

Initially, he didn’t feel anything different.

1 point...2 point...3...4...5... he felt a slight difference when he practiced his breathing technique now.

6...7...8...9...10....12...15... he felt another improvement.

Finally...at twenty fifth point, his vision blinded as everything went black. But it returned a moment later.

When he tried practicing his breathing technique now, it felt much faster than before.

For example, it was as if previously he was breathing with a big booger in his nose, but now it had been cleared, allowing for a much faster flow.

Of course, it wasn’t as simple as that, but it surely felt like that.

Alaric sat in his study by the window, using the Mana Channel Construction Orb for nearly an hour before he stopped.

His eyes opened in surprise.

If I use those five Lithy flowers now, I can reach the Knight Realm within four to five days.

I hope Evan completes his quest quickly.

Alaric didn’t do anything, but just continued using the treasure for constructing mana channels.

He knew of a massive event that would start in a month.

Even the protagonist of Tales of Golden Era had failed to arrive in time, missing a massive opportunity. Alaric couldn’t afford to miss out on it.

It was the establishment of an Academy.

It wasn’t any normal Academy either.

It was jointly established by the five kingdoms, with the Flenn Kingdom being one of them.

There were two important things about this academy.

First, it was going to teach about the Magic path power system.

Yes. The five kingdoms had taken a bold step to break the monopoly of the magic towers.

Previously, only the royal families of the five kingdoms possessed the knowledge and authority to train Mages outside the magic towers.

When this information about the academy was revealed a month later, a great upheaval spread across all five kingdoms.

The magic towers unanimously decided to go on strike. They stopped producing magic items, stopped sending Mages out for various tasks, and took a series of other measures to pressure the five kingdoms.

This would undoubtedly hit the income of the magic tower as much as the economic situation of the five kingdoms but they still ruthlessly carried out this move.

However, the five kingdoms were prepared and didn’t budge on their stance of teaching the Magic Path power system at the academy.

Various measures were taken to combat the strike of magic towers throughout the five kingdoms.

Ultimately the magic towers themselves had to bend their knees and accept the situation.

Thus, the monopoly on the Magic Path power system was broken.

The second point of importance was the Official Path power system. The five kingdoms had come together to formally recognize the Academy, granting it a place within the Official Path power system.

Which meant positions of authority in this academy would genuinely grant Official Path power if you practiced that power system.

The principal of the Academy possessed Official Path authority equivalent to that of a duke in the five kingdoms.

The existence of this Academy was also one of the reasons the noble houses and royal family of the Flenn Kingdom were making it difficult for House Orlen to upgrade to a duchy.

They had already been forced to surrender some of their Official Path authority to contribute toward establishing the Academy.

If House Orlen were upgraded to a duchy, the balance of Official Path authority would have to be redistributed again.

In Tales of Golden Era, Evan failed to enter this academy due to not arriving on time, so I don’t know much about it either, but it is definitely a place of great opportunities.

Not to mention it would be even better for Alaric since he would have a much higher chance to come across geniuses there.

Once I become a Knight, it’ll be way easier for me to join this academy. But before that I’ll have to somehow bring Marchioness Orlen back so that House Orlen won’t be without a head. I don’t trust that slimy steward.

Alaric massaged his head. He had a lot to do with very little time on his hand.

Finally, when Zephyr returned, Alaric gave him a task.

My plan starts now!
