Final Villain's Broken System: Geniuses Make Me Stronger!
Chapter 56: The Flenn Kingdom in shockAlaric remained seated inside the training hall with both hands resting on the Mana Channel Construction Orb.
Only one unfinished channel remained, but that final section was proving far more difficult than he had expected.
Every time he guided mana through it, part of the channel became unstable and forced him to reduce the flow.
He had to repeat the same section several times, correcting small problems and allowing his body to adjust before trying again.
Evan had completed his final channels much faster. Alaric possessed decent Body talent after investing twenty five Talent Points, but decent talent could hardly compare with that monster.
Nearly two hours passed before the final channel finally connected with the rest.
The entire network inside Alaric’s body reacted at once. Mana flowed through every completed channel, spread across his strengthened tissues and returned through the circulation created by his breathing technique.
The pressure inside the training hall increased.
Several wooden practice weapons hanging on the wall rattled, while dust moved away from Alaric in a wide circle.
His muscles tightened as mana passed through them for the first time, and the floor beneath him developed several thin cracks.
The disturbance was somewhat greater than the one created by Evan’s breakthrough, and Alaric noticed none of that as he was still sitting with his eyes closed, feeling his enhanced body.
High up in the sky above the mansion of House Orlen, lightning flashed and thunder rumbled as the laws of the world danced as if in joy, however there were no rewards for Alaric like when Mira got the chance to become a Dragon Rider.
Or...were there really no rewards?
Alaric slowly opened his eyes and looked down at the Orb. Its formerly clear surface had turned grey, and several cracks spread across it before the entire thing broke apart inside his hands.
The fragments continued crumbling until only dull powder remained.
The Mana Channel Construction Orb had completed its purpose. He had also run out of all Lithy Flowers.
Alaric brushed the powder from his hands and stood up.
He approached one of the reinforced practice targets and struck it without using mana. The heavy target shook slightly but remained in place.
Alaric then circulated a small amount of mana through the channels in his right arm. His muscles, tendons and bones became noticeably stronger as the mana spread through them.
He punched the target again.
The entire structure moved backward despite the metal supports holding it to the floor. Two of the supports bent, while a deep depression appeared where his fist had landed.
Alaric pulled his hand back and examined it carefully. He felt some discomfort around his knuckles, but there was no real injury.
"So this is the difference."
That was just his casual punch, but it was already approaching his full powered punch as a Squire.
One must remember that Alaric had fought a heavily injured Knight to standstill and killed him when he was a Squire.
If a casual blow from a newly advanced Knight could already approach the strength of his full powered blow as a Squire, then that fight would’ve definitely resulted in his loss.
Alaric didn’t know what treasures his mother had fed him at Squire stage but he knew that his strength was higher than what a normal advanced Knight should have.
It could be a result of those treasures showing their worth now that he had broken through to Knight stage, or some other reason but Alaric didn’t care.
Once he became familiar with controlling the mana flow, his physical force would rise once more.
The mana remained inside his body throughout the strike. A newly advanced Knight could strengthen their muscles, bones and other tissues, but they couldn’t extend that mana into a weapon.
That limitation brought Alaric’s attention toward the throwing knives.
He first took out one of the ordinary knives he had used as a Squire, then moved to the throwing line and selected an undamaged section of the reinforced target.
Mana flowed through his shoulder, arm and fingers. He limited himself to around half of the force he believed he could produce before throwing the knife.
The blade crossed the training hall and struck the target with a sharp metallic sound.
Its point folded sideways upon impact, while the blade snapped near the handle. Half of it remained stuck in the target, and the other half spun through the air before falling to the floor.
Alaric stared at the ruined weapon with a sigh as what he had expected came true.
His mana had never entered the knife. It had only strengthened the body which threw it, but that alone produced more force than an ordinary weapon could safely endure.
I can no longer use ordinary weapons.
He opened the System storage and removed the twelve Starsteel Throwing Knives.
Their dark silver surfaces reflected the light inside the training hall. Alaric selected one, felt its balance and threw it toward another section of the same target while using the same amount of mana on the required muscles.
The Starsteel knife penetrated the reinforced surface and sank more than halfway inside.
Alaric walked over and pulled it free. The point remained sharp, the blade hadn’t bent and there wasn’t even a visible scratch upon it.
He returned to the throwing line, increased the mana flowing through his arm and threw it again.
The knife penetrated all the way to its handle.
A satisfied smile appeared on Alaric’s face.
This Knife can handle my full strength, but I’ll have to try again when I get used to using mana and my strength undergoes one more improvement.
The Starsteel knives had no strange ability that allowed them to chase enemies, change direction in the air or return to his hands.
They were just extremely durable throwing knives made from an excellent material.
Alaric tested the remaining eleven before collecting every knife himself and returning them to System storage.
That day, a piece of good news spread through the mansion that their Young Lord had broken through to become a Knight!
There were plenty of noble heirs around Alaric’s age who had yet to break through to the Knight stage, and some of them even came from Ducal Houses.
The gulf between Squires and Knights was simply that large because constructing mana channels took far too long, even with proper guidance.
Not everyone could afford to burn through valuable resources like Alaric had done, and hardly anyone existed at the same talent level as Evan. Many talented Squires were forced to spend years slowly completing their channels.
This news rapidly spread through the Kingdom further reinforcing Alaric’s image in the minds of every noble house that he was just a monster pretending to be helpless.
Now that he had revealed his fangs, catching everyone off guard, bringing immense benefits to House Orlen and helping them from their predicament, everyone understood that Alaric must’ve seen no more reason to stay a Squire and simply broke through to Knight.
This also changed their only remaining opinion of him having no talent.
Alaric didn’t deliberately conceal this news, since he was preparing for the establishment of the Academy.
Reputation was a good tool to have in unfamiliar places.
That afternoon, when Evan returned to the mansion, Alaric immediately called him to his personal training hall.
It’s time to have a fight again.
Rematch time baby! Let’s see how strong I am compared to the literal protagonist of this world.
