First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2842 - The Sevendeaths Golden Platform

Chapter 2842 – The Sevendeaths Golden Platform

Beneath the firmament of the Literati Continent, a glittering silver boat whooshed past, piercing the starry skies and shooting toward the barrier between worlds.

Lu Hongpao’s red robes fluttered around her as she laughed. “Should the opportunity arise, which of the Heavenly Sovereigns would you like to kill first?”

Su Yi sat to the side of the boat, holding a jug of wine. He said casually, “Ideally, I’d kill them all at once. That’ll prevent any of them from hiding. It’d save me a lot of trouble.”

Lu Hongpao pondered seriously, then said, “Heavenly Sovereigns can fight, but we rarely manage to kill each other. If you want to kill all of them at once, you’ll need overwhelmingly superior strength. It’ll be truly difficult.”

But then, she laughed. “But I’m sure you can do it!”

Su Yi glanced at her. “Disaster might strike at any moment. You’d best be careful.”

Lu Hongpao tapped her cheek, then said dismissively, “Caution will do us no good. We’ll just handle whatever happens when it happens.”

She’d only just said this when they heard a loud… boom!!! The distant starscape shook, and countless dazzling golden arcs whooshed forth, condensing into a golden platform as enormous as a mountain.

A grand, imposing figure stood atop it, emanating light so intense that it shook the surrounding stars.

“Lu Hongpao, are you dead set on protecting that wicked creature?” asked that grand figure, his voice booming far and wide. It stirred up spatial ripples in the void. Countless stars shook as if about to fall.

Su Yi recognized the man at a glance. This was Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang, the founder of Sevendeaths Court.

He was among the clones that had appeared outside the God Domain during the Battle for Order. It was just that this time, both his presence and his momentum were starkly different from before.

He wore a golden feather coat, and Sevendeaths Profound Light glowed around him. The golden platform he stood on manifested endless transformations, making it seem like an incarnation of Heaven’s Will. His sheer majesty was overwhelming. Even just looking at him was enough to put intense pressure on Su Yi. This was the majesty of a true Heavenly Sovereign, a master of Heaven’s Will!

Lu Hongpao fired back without the slightest politeness, “Old Dog Yaoguang, is that any way to talk? You’re the wicked creature! And so are all of your ancestors!”

Old Dog Yaoguang? Su Yi couldn’t help but sigh to himself. Only Lu Hongpao would dare insult a Heavenly Sovereign like that.

“It’s been years since we last met, but you’re as harsh-tongued as ever, like a shrew shouting on the streets. It truly grates on the nerves.” Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang shook his head.

Clang!

Lu Hongpao suddenly drew the sword hanging from her waist and attacked.

A thousand miles of sky tore open, creating a massive chasm, like a river of sword qi cleaving through the starry void. And it was headed right for Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang.

Wherever that glistening, brilliant sword qi passed, the entire starscape shook violently.

Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang didn’t move, but the mountainous golden platform rumbled and boomed, manifesting endless baleful light. Seven-colored light surged forth like churning, resplendent clouds, enveloping that sword qi and devouring it completely.

Boom!

The golden platform swayed, but it didn’t break.

Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang said coldly, “So what if you dress like a man? You still hit like a girl. That slash was soft and weak.”

Lu Hongpao flashed him a radiant grin, then said softly, “Split!”

A heaven-shaking impact rang out. Endless, baleful light emanated from the platform. Then, where that river of sword qi was devoured, the light split like a shattered sun, exploding into countless beams.

Some of the sword qi cleaved into Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang with a deafening impact. The platform shifted and swayed beneath his feet. He managed to block it in the end, but he still came off looking rather wretched.

“What’d you think of that, you old dog?” Lu Hongpao said with a laugh.

Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang furrowed his brow, raised his hand, and tapped the air.

Boom!

The stars shifted around them, and the scenery transformed, going from a starscape to an endlessly vast, barren wasteland. The ground was devoid of all life, and baleful qi gathered into raging windstorms.

Seven-colored light condensed into churning lightning clouds beneath the dome of heaven, arced with dancing serpents of flickering electricity. Just standing there was like being cut off from Heaven’s Will or abandoned by the Grand Dao; those inside couldn’t sense even the barest hint of the Dao.

Most unsettling of all, countless Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguangs appeared throughout the barren landscape. There were thousands upon thousands of them, all of them like the rulers of Heaven’s Will, dignified and proud, with terrifying presence.

Su Yi’s pupils constricted. From a distance, the Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguangs didn’t look at all like clones. All of them seemed like the real thing. At the same time, terrifying murderous intent bore down on Su Yi, stinging his eyes and making his soul quiver. Even his senses seemed like they might shatter.

This is bad! Su Yi saw Lu Hongpao in the distance, surrounded by thousands of Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguangs. That fiery figure was enveloped in endless baleful light.

Heaven and earth collapsed. Everything was in a state of destruction.

And Su Yi wasn’t sure when, but he, too, had split into pieces!

His body split into countless bloody chunks, his soul shattered, and everything rapidly went dark. Despair, terror, and bewilderment assailed his heart, but he was utterly helpless. It was as if he were on the verge of death, disconnected from the rest of the world. All that remained was darkness, terror, and despair. No, even his terror and despair were fading as awareness fled him…

But it was then that the landscape of Su Yi’s heart suddenly lit up.

This was the Light of the Heart, a product of his Heart Soul. When his heart lit up, all of that terror, darkness, and despair receded like the tides. The world came back into focus, as if the light of the heavens had cast away the fog.

Now that he’d regained his field of vision and his clearheadedness, he still saw that barren landscape shrouded in seven-colored, baleful lightning clouds. But there was no longer any sign of the thousands upon thousands of Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguangs.

“So, good brother, you’ve long since condensed a Heart Soul capable of producing the Light of the Heart. You’ve sure hidden your abilities deeply!” Lu Hongpao sighed, transmitting her voice directly into Su Yi’s ears.

When he looked over, he saw her smiling at him, a radiant look on her face.

She seemed to sense Su Yi’s confusion, so she transmitted, “This is Old Dog Yaoguang’s Sevendeaths Wasteland, a realistic world created with the power of his Eternal Throne.”

Su Yi quickly understood. Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang’s Eternal Throne was called the Sevendeaths Golden Platform, and it could create its own world, the Sevendeaths Wasteland.

Its Sevendeaths Power was wondrous and profound. It targeted seven emotions of the human heart: joy, anger, worry, longing, grief, terror, and surprise.

Even those who’d cultivated the Dao of Supreme Heartlessness still had the usual emotions and desires; they were just buried deep and suppressed by the secret power of the heart. “Heartlessness” didn’t mean you didn’t have emotions. It just meant they couldn’t influence you.

Sevendeaths Power could affect the hearts of cultivators, stirring even the subtlest, most deeply buried emotions before igniting them. The Sevendeaths Wasteland was a manifestation of the seven emotions, a world of desire so realistic it seemed truly material.

Cultivators trapped here were trapped in a world of desire and emotion. Every breath they drew, everything they heard and saw, everything they thought and felt was guided by invisible Sevendeaths Power.

Su Yi’s earlier “death” was actually the result of Sevendeaths Power influencing his heart. It all happened in the blink of an eye, but the danger left Su YI’s heart palpitating with lingering terror.

He had Jiang Wuchen’s Dao Imprint, so he naturally knew a little about Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang’s Sevendeaths Power, but he’d never experienced it for himself before, so he’d still been briefly caught off guard.

According to Lu Hongpao, once trapped in the Sevendeaths Wasteland, those beneath the Heavenly Sovereign level were absolutely doomed! Only other Heavenly Sovereigns could fight back.

But Lu Hongpao hadn’t anticipated that Su Yi would break free of the Sevendeaths Power’s effects and recover his mental clarity before she could even go to his aid.

It was for this reason that Lu Hongpao was so surprised. She instantly deduced that Su Yi had done more than just condense a Heart Soul; he’d even given rise to the Light of the Heart!

Something even several of the Heavenly Sovereigns hadn’t yet managed!

“Don’t reveal this ability. If those old-timers find out you’re capable of this, they’ll be on guard against it, and they’ll adapt their plans accordingly,” Lu Hongpao transmitted hurriedly.

As she spoke, she steered the little silver boat and carried Su Yi into the dome of heaven. A clanging, glistening sword appeared in her grip. With a twist of her wrist, she cleaved through the sky. The thunderclouds blanketing the firmament split, creating a massive opening.

Su Yi couldn’t even imagine how Lu Hongpao had pulled this off. The power of that slash was unimaginably enormous. It was beyond the limits of Su Yi’s comprehension. He couldn’t fathom it even after fusing with Jiang Wuchen’s Dao Imprint.

This was the power of a Heavenly Sovereign!

“Let’s go!” Lu Hongpao was just about to lead Su Yi through the rift when a cold voice resounded out of nowhere.

“You’re already beasts in a cage. Where do you think you can run?”

This voice had only just rung out when a gray, calamitous power of the natural order appeared. It was as sharp as the spear of judgment, and it slammed directly into Su Yi and Lu Hongpao’s little silver boat, slamming it back down to earth.

That power was so terrifying that even Lu Hongpao felt the impact. Her face paled, and she looked a bit wretched.

Su Yi, however, was entirely unharmed.

Because Lu Hongpao had pulled him close at a critical juncture, shielding him from the impact. If she hadn’t, that tyrannical power would have been more than enough to eliminate a Divine Wandering Realm Dao Lord like him.

But their enemies had only just gotten started.

Su Yi and Lu Hongpao had only just hit the ground when two more starkly different Heavenly Sovereign-level powers came hurtling toward them.
