First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2844 - Let’s See if You Can Claim It!

Chapter 2844 – Let’s See if You Can Claim It!

Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, Hei Ya waved. “You deal with that pup Su Yi. I’ll deal with the wench!”

He took a step forward, drew his sword, and attacked Lu Hongpao. His sword intent swept forth like a windstorm. Countless dazzling glyphs of sword qi appeared, as ancient and primeval as the Grand Dao.

But Lu Hongpao made no effort to block them head-on. Instead, she stepped onto the little silver boat, then swung her sleeve. A blue weaver’s shuttle flew forth.

Bang!!!

The weaver’s shuttle was only about a foot long, and it was as thin as an awl, yet it was incomparably mystical. It cleaved right through Hei Ya’s slash. Its blue misty light even forced Hei Ya’s attacks back.

Meanwhile, Lu Hongpao’s silver ship shot forth as if cleaving through time and space, carrying her and Su Yi into the void.

Four Heavenly Sovereigns attacked as one in a bid to intercept her, holding nothing back. A grand battle broke out, its aftershock utterly terrifying.

Within moments, Su Yi felt a stinging pain in his eyes, then all went white. It was as if he’d been blinded. All his ears could pick up was heaven-shaking collisions and the roaring of the combatants. All he felt was an invisible power protecting him. He was never once exposed to any kind of threat. Nonetheless, he was like a little boat in turbulent waters, relentlessly assailed on all sides. Heaven and earth spun around him, and it seemed he might drown at any moment.

Su Yi had experienced too many perils to count, but this was his first time feeling so completely and utterly helpless. Heavenly Sovereigns really were terrifying! In the face of such high-level experts, a Divine Wandering Realm cultivator like him really wasn’t worth looking at. The disparity was even greater than the gap between a mortal and an immortal. If not for Lu Hongpao, he wouldn’t have even been able to struggle. They’d have suppressed him instantaneously!

But Su Yi didn’t lose heart. The disparity was clearly laid out right in front of him. It wasn’t in his nature to cast blame or wallow in self-pity.

He took a deep breath and circulated the secret power of the heart with all his might. His Dao Heart glowed, illuminating his internal landscape! His senses had been severed, but within moments, he gained a sort of “divine vision.” The situation on the battlefield was clearly on display in his heart.

Heavenly Sovereign’s “Huangting Fortune Power” was grand and voluminous. He stirred up a river of stars with every punch and advanced with unparalleled valiance. That unstoppable fist force shook the heavens.

Heavenly Sovereign Changhen walked at the intersection of Yin and Yang, like the ruler of time and space. Space contracted beneath his feet, and light flowed in reverse as he fused the power of time and space into the cycle of Yin and Yang. Every time he struck, he seemed simultaneously close and far away, and his attacks were sudden and unpredictable. There was no guarding against them.

It was utterly unbelievable.

Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang, meanwhile, used Sevendeaths Power to condense worlds of desire both great and small. They didn’t seem special at a glance, yet they targeted the heart. His attacks were the most unpredictable of all.

Heavenly Sovereign E’s methods were the most terrifying. His calamitous power condensed into countless dark glyphs that covered the battlefield inside and out. The more terrifying the destructive power sweeping across the battlefield, the stronger his calamitous power grew. It was as if he were absorbing the current of destructive power to strengthen himself.

But it was Hei Ya who attacked with the greatest ferocity.

When he fought, he was utterly frenzied. He gripped his blood-red sword and charged straight in, every swing cleaving open heaven and earth. He seemed intent on destroying everything in his path. His tyrannical bearing was such that it overshadowed even the Heavenly Sovereigns.

It was also Hei Ya who presented the greatest threat!

When Su Yi saw how much danger Lu Hongpao was in, his heart clenched. She’s injured! And badly at that!

Her blood-red robes were tattered, revealing mangled skin. Her face was deathly pale, and even her qi was in disarray.

Four Heavenly Sovereigns and Hei Ya had joined forces, attacking explosively, leaving Lu Hongpao covered in startling wounds.

This was Su Yi’s first time seeing the Red-Robed Heavenly Sovereign injured at all, much less this severely. Even her hair was coated in blood.

But she just pursed her lips and said nothing. When she attacked, her sovereign’s majesty was undiminished. She just forged her way ahead as if she knew no fear of death. One hand gripped her sword, the other, the little silver boat. The boat had shrunk until it was just one foot long.

Su Yi could “see” himself within the boat. The power emanating from Lu Hongpao’s palm protected him, preventing any of the aftershock from reaching him.

All of this was on full display in Su Yi’s mind down to the finest details. He couldn’t help but sink into silence. She’s a Heavenly Sovereign. Why disregard her own life to save mine? Is it worth it?

Su Yi’s thoughts raced. He recalled his first meeting with Lu Hongpao, in which she’d laughed, wrapped her arm around his shoulder, and said she’d take him to a brothel later. He recalled the way she’d faced down Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan for him in the Blue Peak Continent, and everything that happened in the Literati Continent.

Now, these memories silently overlapped with Jiang Wuchen’s.

Su Yi gradually came to realize something: Lu Hongpao was willing to die for him, both in his past life and in his present incarnation! It had always been that way. Nothing had changed! Even if Lu Hongpao died in battle, she wouldn’t mind a bit. It wasn’t a question of whether or not it was “worth” it.

Su Yi remained silent, but his heart burned with anxiety. She’s risking it all for me! How can I just sit back and do nothing!?

Boom!

The battle between Heavenly Sovereigns raged with increasing intensity. Lu Hongpao’s sword was already damaged, and her whole body was covered in bleeding wounds, splashing the skies red.

Killing a Heavenly Sovereign wasn’t at all easy, but it seemed entirely possible that Lu Hongpao would fall in battle today!

The other Heavenly Sovereigns knew it, too. Their murderous intent intensified, and they struck with even greater ruthlessness.

If they killed Lu Hongpao, another Eternal Throne would enter the world. Who wouldn’t have been tempted?

Such opportunities were incredibly rare. Throughout the ages, they’d only arisen a handful of times!

Killing Lu Hongpao would rewrite the balance of power and deeply affect the trend of the world.

The fall of a Heavenly Sovereign meant the rise of a new Heavenly Sovereign. If the new Heavenly Sovereign was one of their own, all the better. After all, a single sect with two Heavenly Sovereigns would stand above all other factions!

“So, Lu Hongpao, it turns out that kid is your weak point,” Heavenly Sovereign Wen said with a laugh. “We’ll grant you death today!”

“Kill that bitch! I’ve detested her since the Devastation!” roared Heavenly Sovereign Changhen.

He and Lu Hongpao were old enemies with a deep-seated grudge, but he’d never found an opportunity to get even. If they managed to kill her today, he’d undo a long-standing mental knot.

“According to our agreement, I’ll help you kill that woman, but once we’ve succeeded, I’ll be taking that whelp Su Yi!” Hei Ya said with a frenzied laugh. He didn’t care about a mere Heavenly Sovereign in the slightest. What he cared about was the reincarnation of the Big Boss of Sword Sovereign City!

“Got it!”

“But of course!”

“Allow us to thank you in advance, Emissary Hei Ya!”

The Heavenly Sovereigns all voiced their agreement and attacked with even greater ferocity. All of them were determined to kill Lu Hongpao. Their newfound vigor quickly made her situation even worse. She was in grave peril!

“Take this sword!” Su Yi suddenly transmitted, his eyes full of determination as he tried to hand the Sword of the Nine Hells to Lu Hongpao.

But against his expectations, Lu Hongpao refused.

“Don’t mind me. Keep it for yourself!” transmitted Lu Hongpao. “And don’t let my injuries fool you. I might be injured, but I most certainly haven’t yet reached my limit! Get ready first. I’ll soon see you safely away from the Literati Continent!”

Suddenly, her tone softened. “I don’t care how many cards you have hidden. I’m sure you’ll run into other dangers later, when I’m no longer here to protect you. Use your hidden cards then!”

Su Yi was just about to say something when she shook her head. “I’m stronger than you, so why should you worry about me? If you really want to help me, kill my enemies and get even on my behalf. That’s plenty!”

Su Yi’s heart felt tied up in knots. He’d done everything in his power, even going so far as to offer her the Sword of the Nine Hells, only for Lu Hongpao to refuse. Suddenly, she suffered yet another heavy injury. Her body was on the verge of being blasted to bits, and blood poured from her lips in a non-stop flow.

She looked so wretched that Su Yi couldn’t help but roar in fury, “Is this any time to act tough!? Do I need you to die for me!?”

But Lu Hongpao just laughed, looking utterly delighted. My dear brother, of course, I’m going to risk it all for you. How could I possibly do anything else? You really are kind-hearted. And you’re a good man, just like you were back then. You really are my good brother!

A moment later, she raised her hand, her eyes full of staunch determination. “My good brother, should fate allow it, let us meet again!”

Boom!

A mysterious pearl exploded on her person, and her aura rapidly soared, forcing the other Heavenly Sovereigns back.

Hei Ya seemed to have sensed something. He bellowed and then swung his sword with all his might.

But Lu Hongpao blocked his attack, preventing him from drawing near. She was obviously gravely injured, but her presence was even more unbelievably terrifying.

Her fingers drummed the little silver boat, and countless blood-red markings appeared on its surface. Then, with a wave of her hand, the boat transformed into a speck of light and vanished.

Su Yi, the only one left on board, could do nothing to stop it. All he could do was vanish with the boat.

Before he left, he managed one last glance at the disheveled, bloodied Lu Hongpao. She was smiling at him, her expression utterly radiant.

Those eyes had no sadness, nor did they have any reluctance. On the contrary, she looked utterly satisfied, as if she were saying, “See this, good brother? I said I’d see you off safely, and I did!”

Kaboom!

Hei Ya and the Heavenly Sovereigns tried their utmost to stop his escape, but it was to no avail. They weren’t sure what Lu Hongpao had done to the boat, but it vanished in a flash. They couldn’t sense any trace of it, either.

All of them were enraged, and all of them were frantic, especially Hei Ya, whose face contorted. He roared, “Damn you, you bitch!”

Lu Hongpao took out a jug of wine and drank. It was the very same one Su Yi had given her, and it had only a drop left. She threw back her head and drained it, then tossed the empty jug aside.

Her bright eyes scanned her enemies, and she said with a burst of laughter, “Come on, then. My head is right here on my neck. Let’s see if any of you can claim it!”
