Outside the killing formation, Heavenly Sovereign Ling Huo’s apricot-yellow pennant shattered, and he suffered a backlash. He opened his mouth and coughed up a mouthful of blood.
The thirty-six Heavenly Monarchs accompanying him cried out in alarm.
All of their command tokens shattered, and as the killing formation split, a current of destructive power sent them all flying. They landed in the dirt, scattered all over the ground.
Heaven and earth were plunged into upheaval. Clouds of dust and smoke billowed into the air as a blue-robed figure shot forth like a blinding beam of light.
This was none other than Su Yi. His long hair hung loose as he gripped his bamboo sword. Sword intent surged around him, making him seem like a sovereign gazing down upon the world from beyond the nine heavens.
He didn’t waste any time on talk. He just launched his counterattack.
A clear, whistle-like sword hum rang out as Su Yi attacked in sweeping, natural motions. A windstorm of sword qi swept across heaven and earth.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several Heavenly Monarchs couldn’t dodge in time. The raging sword qi swept over them, shattering their bodies and annihilating their souls.
Dense blood splattered the air like crimson fireworks, briefly dazzling before withering away.
Su Yi charged right in with unstoppable momentum, startling every last one of the Heavenly Monarchs. Their scalps tingled, and their eyes bulged in their sockets.
Earlier, when Su Yi was trapped in the formation, they sensed nothing at all.
But now that Su Yi had broken through the formation, they sensed his terrifying sword force head-on. All of them sensed how terrifying this young Silent Realm sword cultivator was on a visceral level!
Within moments, the ground ran red with rivers of blood, and agonized cries shook the air. One Heavenly Monarch after another fell, cut down like grass, unable to block even a single strike.
Here in the southern frontier, these old-timers were all long-established experts. All of them could shake the entire region with a stomp of their feet.
But now, they couldn’t block even one of Su Yi’s attacks! Anyone he targeted was doomed!
Heaven and earth were overcast. Everything was in chaos on all sides.
Su Yi’s gaze was calm and cold as he leaped across the battlefield, venting his accumulated hatred.
It wasn’t just about Pu Xuan and Lian Luo; he was still furious about the Heart-Tempering Sword House’s destruction, and it was Limitless Palace who’d declared all the survivors wanted!
Did they really think there was no one left in the Heart-Tempering Sword House? Did they really think that his Silent Realm cultivation base made him no more than helpless prey for the Heavenly Sovereigns and their factions?
Su Yi had been suppressing this anger for far too long already.
From the moment he’d left the God Domain, those lofty, superior Heavenly Sovereigns had targeted him, but he’d been too weak to do anything but endure.
But now, his situation had changed. He was no longer the person he’d been. Now, he had the foundations needed to strike back. He no longer needed to swallow his anger!
Why hadn’t Su Yi hidden his identity since leaving the world beneath the River of Destiny? Why did he no longer bother to disguise himself?
It was simple. He wanted to duke it out with his old enemies from lives both past and present, and he wanted to do so openly, under his own name!
He wanted everyone in the Eternal Heavens Domain to know that he was settling the score on the Heart-Tempering Sword House’s behalf.
It was time he ended these long-standing enmities!
He wanted everyone to know that he’d crush anyone who offended him, even Heavenly Sovereign-level factions!
No one had shaken these top factions before, but that just meant he’d have to be the first!
Jiang Wuchen had once been the Greatest of the Unthroned. That meant that to surpass him, he’d have to become the Greatest of the Throned!
It was because he’d suppressed this anger for far too long that Su Yi had decided not to leave, instead waiting here to launch a massacre. He wanted to kill until blood gathered into rivers. He wanted to shake the entire Divine Wandering Continent. No, the entire Eternal Heavens Domain!
The lives and blood of these Heavenly Monarchs would become proof of his strength!
Boom!
Several Heavenly Monarchs joined forces, using their hidden killer weapons to attack Su Yi from all sides. All of them were putting their lives on the line.
Su Yi faced it calmly, swung his sword, and shattered the skies, crushing their attacks as if they were made of paper.
Practically simultaneously, Su Yi took a step forward. Sword qi swept forth like a river flowing in reverse, enveloping several Heavenly Monarchs. All of them perished on the spot.
At Su Yi’s level, any gesture could erupt with sword intent. His sword followed the will of his heart.
The Heavenly Fate Realm was divided into three stages: Grasping the Profound, Refining the Void, and Piercing Illusions. There was an enormous gap between each stage.
Of the thirty-six Heavenly Monarchs accompanying Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo into battle, only two had truly reached the Piercing Illusions Stage. The rest were all in the Grasping the Profound or Refining the Void Stages.
Even when they joined forces, they presented no threat to Su Yi whatsoever.
By now, nineteen Heavenly Monarchs had died. Eight had lost their nerve and scampered off in panic.
Only nine held fast, stubbornly supporting Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo.
Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo saw everything that was happening, and it left him overcome with indignation.
“Hah!” Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo bellowed, took out a talisman, and manifested three thousand astral lightning bolts. All of them descended upon Su Yi.
Su Yi waved his sleeves, and the Cauldron of Fate floated into the air, supporting a curtain of light, blocking the lightning onslaught comparable to a Heavenly Sovereign imprint’s full-force attack.
He seized the opportunity to cut down two more Heavenly Monarchs. One, he decapitated. The other, he cut in half. In the end, both were destroyed, and their Daos died with him.
The few remaining Heavenly Monarchs broke down. Their will to fight crumbled, and they turned to flee. Every last one of them was as pathetic as a dog that had lost its master!
Su Yi was just about to give chase when a chill coursed through him, and he dodged without hesitation.
Boom!
A radiant spirit pearl exploded where he’d been standing just moments prior, destroying the surrounding one hundred thousand feet. Its force was so terrifying that this was obviously a Heavenly Sovereign-level secret treasure.
“What a pity!” sighed Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo. Only a Heavenly Sovereign could refine Heavenly Sovereign-level treasures, and most were single-use. They included talismans, puppets, spirit pearls, and flying knives.
They were different from true Heavenly Sovereign Dao Weapons, which were infused with the mysteries of Eternal Thrones.
However, Heavenly Sovereign Dao Weapons could only display their full power in the hands of Heavenly Sovereigns.
“Your strength might be lacking, but you’ve sure got no shortage of treasures,” Su Yi said with a cold laugh. He swung his sword and attacked.
Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo felt an impending threat bear down on him. He was a peak Piercing Illusions Stage expert, yet even he felt suffocated.
Just a few years prior, in the battle in the Literati Continent, Su Yi was still only in the Divine Wandering Realm. Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo couldn’t even imagine how Su Yi had changed so much in so little time, much less how he’d grown so terrifyingly strong!
He wasn’t any weaker than Jiang Wuchen, the Greatest of the Unthroned, at his former peak!
When Su Yi’s slash hurtled toward him, Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo no longer dared to hesitate. He gnashed his teeth and bellowed.
Inscrutable, terrifying power erupted from his body, as if a mysterious force were awakening within his body, soon to replace him completely.
It was to the point that his presence and bearing transformed. Both were starkly different from before.
He now emanated the dignified, solitary majesty of a Heavenly Sovereign gazing down upon all of creation, as grand as a mountain and as vast as an ocean.
Su Yi had seen this sort of thing before. This was exactly how it had been when Heavenly Sovereign E possessed Di E and took control of his body!
Thus, Su Yi didn’t even need to think to know that the mysterious power replacing Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo originated from Heavenly Sovereign Wen!
“Su Yi, you cannot escape disaster this time!” roared Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo.
Then, his gaze grew cold and indifferent. It was now full of imposing majesty. When he looked at Su Yi, a playful arc tugged at his lips.
It was just as Su Yi guessed. He was no longer Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo, but rather... Heavenly Sovereign Wen!
He raised his hand into the air and closed it. The endless skies instantly froze in place.
Su Yi, who was charging at him, sword swinging, was like a bug in a web, unable to advance any further.
Heavenly Sovereign Wen took a step forward, then reached for Su Yi’s throat.
From beginning to end, he never said a word, and his movements never slowed.
That is, until now. Heavenly Sovereign Wen suddenly staggered on his feet, and a muffled grunt escaped his lips.
A streak of tyrannical sword qi silently cleaved into Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo’s heart, shattering it into pieces!
The heart was the foundation of life. When it broke, life ended with it.
Heavenly Monarch Ling Huo’s life force visibly flowed away, like withered, rotting wood. In the end, he shattered with a bang and crumbled into dust.
That terrifying power of Heavenly Sovereign Wen escaped the corpse at a critical juncture, then condensed into an avatar.
Practically simultaneously, Su Yi’s sword hummed and clanged as he broke free and regained his capacity for movement.
The “layer of ice” freezing the sky in place shattered.
Su Yi attacked without a word, too. He was as quick as a beam of flowing light.
Sword intent gathered along the edge of his sword. It was unbelievably terrifying, and he wasn’t holding back in the slightest.
Heavenly Sovereign Wen expressionlessly tightened his fist and struck the air.
Bang—!
Sword qi shattered as the Heavenly Sovereign’s fist tore open a three-thousand-mile rift in the sky.
The entire Obscured Heavens Mountains shook violently. Every living being in them trembled, and heaven and earth shifted.
The punch sent Su Yi flying several thousand feet before he just barely managed to steady himself on his feet.
Throughout his body, his blood and qi churned, and his face alternated between white and green. He’d obviously taken significant damage.
Heavenly Sovereign Wen’s indifference shifted in apparent surprise that a Silent Realm cultivator like Su Yi would manage to block his attacks.
Then, he snorted coldly and struck once more. He took a step forward, and heaven and earth spun on their axis. Yin and yang inverted, and the indescribably terrifying majesty of a sovereign swept forth.
Su Yi brushed off his clothes, his eyes as deep as twin abysses. They showed neither joy nor sorrow.
He didn’t retreat. Instead, he charged forward to meet his enemy head-on. His tall, upright frame was suddenly as radiant as could be, like the sharp edge of a sword catching ablaze.
The depths of Heavenly Sovereign Wen’s gaze glinted with mockery. It took a Heavenly Sovereign to shake a Heavenly Sovereign. That was true for their avatars of will, too!
Heavenly Sovereign Wen closed his fist, and heaven and earth shook. A seal condensed in the palm of his hand.
Indescribably terrifying destructive power gathered like mad above his palm.
He wanted to suppress Su Yi with this attack!
But practically simultaneously, Su Yi charged explosively toward him, swinging Proper Conduct with all his might.
It was like a searingly bright misty cloud, blazing with colorful radiance as it cleaved into the human world.
Bang!!!
Su Yi’s slash suddenly collapsed, shattered beneath Heavenly Sovereign Wen’s palm.
“You’re no more than an ant trying to shake a tree, unworthy of consideration,” said Heavenly Sovereign Wen, finally speaking up.
But then, a sword silently appeared above Su Yi’s head. It was as black as ink, and it billowed chaos power. Its shape was indescribable, and the sword force emanating from it was unsurpassed.
As soon as it appeared, it struck ruthlessly.
Boom!
Heaven and earth shook, and all of creation dimmed.
Heavenly Sovereign Wen was visibly flabbergasted, disbelief written all over his face.
A moment later, his avatar of will split, then collapsed with a bang.
