All eyes converged on the six competitors.
“Why not go first, Su Yi?” Bo Yunjun suddenly suggested.
This was Heavenly Sovereign E’s ace, the one who’d defeated Yun Du’s strongest strike. He’d left a deep impression on Su Yi.
“Better to go in order,” Su Yi said casually. He couldn’t be bothered to guess why Bo Yunjun would suggest something like that at random.
Bo Yunjun smiled. “Very well.”
He approached first instead, and the others followed suit. Before long, the results were clear.
Bo Yunjun would fight Lu Sang, Lian Yue would fight Le You, and Su Yi would fight Yu Xiu!
The crowd stirred as they discovered that, with the notable exception of Lian Yue vs. Le You, the outcome of these matches was full of suspense. Even the Heavenly Sovereigns couldn’t predict who’d win.
The onlookers’ hearts were full of unprecedented anticipation!
Bo Yunjun and Lu Sang entered the arena for the first match of the round.
Bo Yunjun was still dressed like a Confucian with a face like crown jade. He was dashing and carefree, with a habitual warm smile on his lips.
Lu Sang was unassuming. He was the seventh elder of Limitless Palace, and he was short and thin, his features marked by the vicissitudes of countless years.
However, no one would dare to underestimate this unassuming old man now.
Bo Yunjun and Lu Sang’s competition reached peak intensity as soon as it began, stunning the crowd.
Yun Du, Yan Xiaosheng, and the others couldn’t help but sigh to themselves. Even they had no choice but to admit that their strength was lacking compared to Bo Yunjun and Lu Sang.
“Little Brother, it’s just as I thought. Lu Sang is using Three Purities Temple’s Greater Purity Primordial Embryo Incantation. He’s got to be connected to Three Purities Temple,” Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan suddenly transmitted. “Bo Yunjun, however, is a bit strange. I’ve never heard of his powers of the Grand Dao or secret techniques. All I can say with certainty is that he’s a Confucian!”
On the Far Shore of Destiny, each major school of thought had its own progenitor-level faction.
After seeing Bo Yunjun’s abilities, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan suspected that he was from the Confucian progenitor-level faction.
“Is that so? Then this is really getting more and more interesting,” said Su Yi thoughtfully, his gaze containing a hint of mockery. “The Struggle for Heavenly Fate was intended for the people of the Eternal Heavens Domain, but now, it’s become a clash between factions of the Far Shore. How truly unexpected."
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s gaze was conflicted. Su Yi was right. Su Yi aside, everyone in the top six had strange origins.
Moreover, they already knew that Su Yi’s last opponent, Liu Wutian, was from the Panwu Family, yet another faction of the Far Shore!
“Over the past few years, many of the Heavenly Sovereigns have started cooperating with factions of the Far Shore in secret,” transmitted Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan. “This is the trend of the future. Those who adapt shall flourish, while those who don’t shall perish!”
Su Yi knew a little about the Far Shore of Destiny, and he knew that their forces had long since permeated the Eternal Heavens Domain, so he didn’t find this particularly strange.
As they conversed, the first match came to a close. Bo Yunjun eked out a narrow victory, and Lu Sang was defeated!
A deathly silence descended over the area. Everyone was shaken.
Because at the battle’s most critical juncture, both Bo Yunjun and Lu Sang revealed terrifying abilities they’d never once used before!
This came as an enormous shock. Only now did the onlookers realize that both of them had been holding back this entire time.
Heavenly Sovereign Wen’s expression darkened in response to Lu Sang’s defeat. His brow tightly furrowed.
It was immediately obvious to everyone that now that Lu Sang had been defeated, Limitless Palace had no hope of acquiring a second Eternal Throne!
The second match was Lian Yue vs. Le You. Almost everyone thought Le You had made it this far through sheer luck, and that his good fortune was sure to end here. The outcome didn’t seem at all suspenseful.
But when the battle began, Su Yi put away his jug of wine and focused all of his attention on the battlefield.
He already knew how strong Lian Yue was, so it was Le You, the presumed hidden expert, whom he was most curious about. How much of his true strength would he reveal this time?
Just as Su Yi expected, when this battle began, Le You’s strength was starkly different from before. There was no doubt about it; his opponent, Lian Yue, was so strong that he no longer dared to hold back!
All of this threw the crowd into uproar. Everyone had thought Le You made it this far due to a string of extraordinary luck.
Only now did they discover that they’d been tricked. Le You had been playing the pig to eat the tiger this entire time!
Even the Heavenly Sovereigns had strange looks on their faces. Impressive, Le You! We almost misjudged you!
Wang Zhiwu’s eyes widened, and he clucked his tongue. “I wouldn’t have guessed that bastard was so insidious!”
From beginning to end, Su Yi’s gaze was locked onto Le You. He was trying to gauge every last detail of his abilities.
No one knew it, but between his secret power of the heart and the Ashes of Spirit Edict, Su Yi now sensed a starkly different aura of the Grand Dao emanating from Le You!
He might have seemed unassuming on the surface, and when he fought, his bearing wasn’t all that impressive, but Su Yi “saw” a malevolent dragon sealed within him!
This sealed power of the Grand Dao was like a malevolent dragon tucked away in an endless abyss. It was utterly mysterious, ferocious, and strange.
When Le You attacked, that sealed power swung its tail. Its powers coursed throughout Le You’s body, and his strength visibly transformed.
Even now, he’s yet to undo the entirety of his seal? Su Yi couldn’t help but be surprised.
He was certain that Le You’s strength was that of a Heavenly Monarch. In other words, the mysterious power sealed within him was at the Heavenly Monarch level, too.
That was far too unbelievable.
Unfortunately, the arena was sealed, so Su Yi could only dimly discern what was happening. He couldn’t investigate any further.
Even so, Su Yi gained an all-new understanding of Le You.
Fortunately, Lian Yue was no ordinary person, either. She, too, was mysterious and extraordinary. Even now, she was at no disadvantage against Le You.
“Ol’ Brother, can you discern Le You’s origins?” transmitted Su Yi.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan shook his head slightly. “To tell the truth, I don’t know much about the Far Shore of Destiny. Le You’s legacies and powers of the Grand Dao are even stranger than Bo Yunjun’s. I’ve never heard of them.”
Su Yi’s eyebrows rose.
He could have just asked the heart devil in the rusted sheath. He’d almost certainly have gotten clear answers, then.
But there were too many people watching, including seven Heavenly Sovereigns. Su Yi didn’t want anything to go wrong, so he had no choice but to hold back.
Everyone was in uproar. The battle astonished the entire crowd.
All of the Heavenly Sovereigns stared intently at Le You as if trying to discern his secrets. Only Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu of Eternal Lightning Court had a complicated look on his face.
He was naturally well aware that Le You wasn’t simple.
It was just that not even he had realized that Le You was this extraordinary. In other words, Le You had managed to fool even Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu!
Against all expectations, Lian Yue admitted defeat just as the battle reached peak intensity.
Silence descended over the crowd. Everyone was flabbergasted. They were obviously evenly matched, so why admit defeat?
Heavenly Sovereign Changhen furrowed his brow. He was surprised, too. He knew that although Lian Yue didn’t seem competitive, she was extremely proud and confident. Yet now, she’d admitted defeat of her own accord. There had to be a reason!
“Wangshu, this isn’t like you,” Le You transmitted, his gaze inscrutable. “Let me guess. Don’t tell me that despite all your years lying low in the Eternal Heavens Domain, you’ve yet to find good fortune sufficient to repair your Dao and life force?”
Wang Shu!
It seemed that Le You had known Lian Yue’s secret identity this entire time.
Lian Yue’s gaze was calm and clear as she looked at him and transmitted back, “You’re using progenitor-level Demonist Laws, but I can say with certainty that you’re no Demonist. Who exactly are you?”
Le You’s gaze was playful. “The Grand Dao has no name.”
Lian Yue’s brow furrowed, but in the end, she said nothing. She just turned and left the arena.
Le You smiled.
His victory shook the entire audience. Not even the Heavenly Sovereigns had anticipated this result.
Le You just shrugged and let out a deep breath. “Playing a wimp was exhausting, but now...”
Silence descended over the area as everyone discovered that Le You now seemed like an entirely different person. His demeanor was completely different from before.
He now seemed proud, unbridled, and contemptuous. Even just standing there, he seemed to look down on all of creation.
He disregarded the crowd’s bewildered gazes and laughed. “There’s no need to keep up the act, so I’ll be open with you. I’m dead-set on acquiring the Yitian Eternal Throne!”
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he left the arena.
The crowd’s gazes were complicated. Lian Yue had admitted defeat, and Le You “took off his pig costume” and revealed his true strength. All of this came as an unquestionably enormous shock.
“When he kept a low-profile, he drew no attention at all. Now that he’s revealed himself, he’s insufferably arrogant. He sure is something,” grumbled Wang Zhiwu.
Mu Yu transmitted, “Young Master, there’s something seriously off about Le You. You cannot underestimate him!”
Wang Zhiwu rolled his eyes. “Do you think I need the reminder? Even a blind man would realize that!”
Mu Yu grimaced and said no more. Some discussions are best left for later, after the founder’s clone awakens.
When Le You returned to his seat, Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu couldn’t help but transmit, “Le You, are you...”
“Don’t ask, Founder,” Le You interrupted with a smile. “I won’t answer you even if you do.”
Had Le You dared speak to him like this in the past, Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu would have slapped him, but now, he just nodded and sank into silence.
The crowd was still discussing Le You and Lian Yue’s match when Su Yi rose and entered the arena.
Yu Xiu appeared practically simultaneously.
The two of them stared each other down from afar, the air rife with hostility.
Outside the arena, the atmosphere shifted slightly. Everyone’s gazes were drawn over.
In the first match, Bo Yunjun narrowly eked out a victory and defeated Lu Sang.
In the second match, Lian Yue admitted defeat, and Le You advanced to the finals.
What would happen in the third match? Who would win?
No one knew, and no one dared say with certainty how things would turn out.
