First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2994 - An Impressive Strike!

Yu Xiu, the ace of Sevendeaths Court, looked like a teenager. His Daoist robes were apricot yellow, and he wore his hair in a topknot. His eyes were like a child’s, but he had a grim nature, and he seldom spoke.

When he fought, he attacked rapidly and with great ferocity. In his previous matches, it never once took him more than ten strikes to overpower an opponent.

It would have been obvious to anyone that Yu Xiu was an extraordinarily dangerous and terrifying Heavenly Monarch.

He was far too calm, as if he had no emotions at all. Even when he won, his cold, steelly expression never shifted.

But against all expectations, when he faced Su Yi, he suddenly broke his silence. “Actually, I’m a sword cultivator, too.”

The crowd was stunned. Wait, you are?

When they thought back to his previous matches, they didn’t recall him ever using any powers of the Dao of the Sword!

They weren’t sure what to make of this. Was he hiding his true strength this entire time, just like Le You?

“Oh?” said Su Yi. “And?”

Yu Xiu’s gaze was cold and grim. “You’re the only one here worth drawing my sword for.”

The crowd exchanged glances. It was just one light, airy sentence, yet it was ridiculously arrogant!

Does he really think that not even Bo Yunjun, Le You, and the other semi-finalists are worth drawing his weapon for?

Even the Heavenly Sovereigns looked intrigued. Don’t tell me... that Yu Xiu is going to surprise and delight us?

Bo Yunjun laughed Yu Xiu’s arrogance off and said nothing. Le You rubbed his jaw, his gaze inscrutable. There was no telling what he was thinking.

Su Yi chuckled. He’s quite honest.

He raised his right hand and said, “If you please.”

Yu Xiu subtly inclined his head, then raised his right hand without any further chatter.

Sword intent condensed into a four-foot sword in his grip.

Yu Xiu’s presence abruptly transformed. Previously, he’d been cold and steelly, but now, he was as unbridled as the wind, as fierce as a raging flame!

His tall, thin frame surged with shocking blue sword intent, like layers of surging waves. The sound was like howling wind or rumbling thunder.

He hadn’t displayed anything remotely like this in his previous matches!

The crowd shook. They were finally certain that Yu Xiu wasn’t just boasting. He... really was a sword cultivator!

Yu Xiu took a step forward, and... Boom!

The entire arena shook.

The world blurred before the crowd’s eyes. It was as if Yu Xiu were enveloped in a boundless ocean. It spread out around him, covering the entire arena.

Those boundless blue waters were formed of pure, explosive sword intent, like endless, churning waves!

Su Yi showed no sign of joy or sorrow. His heart was as tranquil as the waters of an ancient well.

He just stood there, as unmoving as a boulder, letting the fierce waves assail him without budging an inch.

Yu Xiu’s eyes lit up as he launched an attack.

That boundless blue ocean suddenly condensed, all of it gathering within this strike. It was like an arc of blue light piercing the dome of heaven.

The sword intent imbued within this strike was so overwhelming and the sword qi so boundless that countless hearts shook.

Outside the arena, Yun Du felt a chill course down his spine. He laughed bitterly to himself.

In the past, he was a powerhouse of the Dao of the Sword second only to Jiang Wuchen. Everyone knew it, too.

But now, he discovered what people meant when they said, “There’s always someone better out there.”

When Yu Xiu attacked, Yun Du knew that his attainments in the Dao of the Sword were a notch inferior.

He couldn’t help but wonder how Su Yi was going to handle this strike.

As Yun Du’s thoughts raced, he was astonished to discover that Su Yi was still just standing there, not moving a muscle. It was as if the sword force had overwhelmed him, preventing him from responding.

The Heavenly Sovereigns and a handful of other keen-eyed observers saw this, too. All of them were confused. That’s just Yu Xiu’s first attack. Don’t tell me Su Yi’s going to lose already?

They’d only just thought this when... Bang!

Yu Xiu’s sword cleaved into Su Yi, and fierce, boundless, blue sword intent erupted with unstoppable destructive power.

But to the onlookers’ astonishment, Su Yi was entirely unharmed! On the contrary, this slash shattered in front of Su Yi, inch by inch, scattering into flecks of blue light, slicing countless rifts into the sky.

But Su Yi just stood there, uninjured. Even his robes were perfectly intact, as if none of this meant anything to him.

A deathly silence descended over the crowd. All of them were flabbergasted. He blocked that shocking strike relying on nothing more than his defensive aura?

“Your Dao of the Sword isn’t as impressive as I imagined,” Su Yi said calmly.

Yu Xiu was unwittingly stunned. His eyes flashed like swords or blazing stars. He laughed, “That was just my first strike. The true spectacle has not yet begun!”

Boom!

His sleeves rippled around him, his blue sword intent condensing into an illusory massive, serpentine dragon. It was just an avatar, but it was vivid, lifelike, and behaved as if sentient.

Sharp, mysterious sword force swept forth, covering the entire arena.

This was no mere manifestation of sword intent. Rather, it seemed that some unbelievable power of the Laws had given his sword force a soul. It was a wondrous, unbelievable change.

This time, Su Yi couldn’t help but look surprised. He was finally intrigued.

A moment later, Yu Xiu suddenly vanished.

The serpentine dragon, meanwhile, shattered the skies over the arena, then wrapped itself around Su Yi, over and over and over again. Its head swung at Su Yi like the edge of a sword.

This was a shockingly powerful strike!

It could both restrict its opponents and attack them. Moreover, the serpentine dragon was so enormous that it filled the entire arena; there was nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.

Even the Heavenly Sovereigns were stunned. His Dao of the Sword is supremely wondrous!

Su Yi was trapped, and he looked as minuscule as a single piece of grain beneath the millstone. As the serpentine dragon constricted, his defensive aura contorted, snapped, shattered, and broke with a series of audible blasts.

The dragon’s head descended once more, erupting with all-encompassing destructive power.

The onlookers’ hearts clenched. It’s like he’s given up and is now just sitting there waiting to die!

But a moment later, the enormous blue dragon stiffened. Overflowing sword force swept forth, emanating from the palm of Su Yi’s hand.

Like an unstoppable hurricane.

The utterly enormous dragon filled all of the arena’s available space, but as that sword force spread, its massive body split into countless chunks.

Its head, still mid-descent, shattered above Su Yi!

A stinging rain of light swept forth as Yu Xiu staggered back into view, emerging from the site of the dragon’s now-destroyed head.

That windstorm of sword force had almost sent him flying!

Meanwhile, a flood of sword force appeared around Su Yi. His robes billowed, and his hair danced in the wind. He just stood there as before, yet he seemed utterly immovable.

Without exception, the distant onlookers were stunned.

Yu Xiu’s strike seemed to seize good fortune from the heavens, but Su Yi’s counterattack was even more unbelievable!

They would never have guessed that his sword force alone would be enough to break through his predicament and turn the situation on its head.

“That strike was actually somewhat interesting,” said Su Yi, turning to look at Yu Xiu. “Do you have anything stronger?”

Yu Xiu pursed his lips. “I do!”

He shot forward and attacked once more. Countless streaks of sword light shot forth, arising throughout the battlefield. They flickered in and out of view, shifting continuously, seemingly real, yet simultaneously false.

The crowd felt a stinging pain in their eyes. Everything swayed in front of them, and they could no longer see anything clearly.

It was to the point that they couldn’t even tell which streaks of sword qi were real and which were false.

Su Yi finally shifted positions. He pressed down with his foot, then shot into the air.

His sleeves billowed around him as a vortex of sword qi formed in the middle of the arena. It rumbled, boomed, and expanded. Wherever it passed, it devoured the flickering, shifting streaks of sword qi.

It didn’t care how they shifted, or whether they were true or false. It just crushed and devoured everything in its path.

In the blink of an eye, it had filled almost the entire arena.

But it was then that Yu Xiu suddenly shot out of an illusory streak of sword qi with unbelievable speed, attacking Su Yi from behind. He was trying to catch Su Yi off guard and deal a lethal blow!

But it was as if Su Yi had precognition. He didn’t even turn to look. Instead, he raised his right hand as if gripping a sword and thrust behind him

Bang!!!

Yu Xiu attacked quickly, then left even more quickly. It was as if a divine mountain had slammed into him, sending him flying backward.

Sword qi churned, and currents of destructive power surged forth.

Su Yi turned to look at Yu Xiu. “This is the spectacle you promised me?”

Yu Xiu rose and wiped the blood from his lips with his thumb. “Shall we try that one more time?”

Su Yi inclined his head.

Yu Xiu raised his hands into the air. The arena suddenly shook as countless shooting stars flashed through the sky.

No, those weren’t stars, but rather, streaks of sword qi. There were tens of thousands of them, so many that they packed every last inch of sky.

Each streak of sword qi flowed with a different, wondrous aura. Some resonated with the Grand Dao, while others originated from the soul. Still others were condensed out of blood and qi, while some were crystallizations of the cultivation base...

It was almost like each was a different sword cultivator with a starkly different presence and power.

It might have seemed chaotic and disorganized, yet together, these countless streaks of sword qi formed a perfect, cohesive whole.

It was as if Yu Xiu had fused fully into these streaks of sword qi, becoming endless.

The seven Heavenly Sovereigns' eyes narrowed, their hearts shaken. What... kind of Sword Dao is this?

Bo Yunjun’s eyes flashed, his expression utterly strange.

Le Yue murmured, “Eee?” and sat upright in the stands.

Lian Yue’s brow furrowed, and her eyes widened as if something had suddenly occurred to her.

Liu Wutian, Lu Sang, and the others were startled, too.

Everyone outside the arena felt their hearts palpate, and their hair stand on end. It really was like gazing upon an endless army of sword cultivators, each with their own divine majesty and flair!

Wang Zhiwu gasped.

Light flashed in the depths of Mu Yu’s turbid eyes. That’s... a progenitor-level aura of the Grand Dao!

Su Yi was finally under pressure. Those countless streaks of sword qi were each akin to a different legacy of the Grand Dao. They were just that dazzling and just that terrifying.

It was like an army of countless sword cultivators covering the entire arena. Anyone who found themselves here would feel surrounded and overwhelmed with helplessness.

Su Yi felt a prickling pain on his skin. Even his qi was under terrifying suppression.

But he laughed. This strike really is extraordinary!
