Su Yi, Bo Yunjun, and Le You stood in the arena in a triangle formation. All eyes were upon them.
The outcome of a chaotic three-person battle was extremely hard to predict. No one could guarantee they wouldn’t wind up having to face two opponents at once. All three combatants would suppress each other, and they’d need to be on constant alert for ambushes. That was what made predicting the outcome so difficult.
Suddenly, Su Yi broke the silence. “When the battle begins, you two had best give it your all.”
Then, he glanced outside the arena.
This was the final match. Su Yi knew that Bo Yunjun and Le You were likely the strongest Heavenly Monarchs he’d ever face, but that didn’t matter. What mattered was that Su Yi knew he wouldn’t get another opportunity like this.
As his cultivation rose, Heavenly Monarchs would cease to mean anything to him. Thus, he’d set his sights on the Heavenly Sovereigns!
That aside, he was sure that something unexpected would happen after the battle ended. When that happened, it would be no mere competition of individual strength. That was why Su Yi decided to urge his opponents to fight their hardest. He wanted a satisfying battle, here and now!
Le You wrapped his arms around his chest and laughed derisively. “We’ll just have to see whether you’re capable of forcing me to give it my all.”
Bo Yunjun smiled faintly. “I’ll do my best.”
“Wait!” Just as the battle was about to begin, a voice resounded out of nowhere. The speaker was Heavenly Sovereign Wen. “Just in case, take out Great Sorrow now, before the fighting begins!”
His gaze was fixed on Su Yi.
Silence descended over the area. Everyone sensed the extraordinary pressure. All of them could guess that Heavenly Sovereign Wen was on guard against Su Yi reneging on his agreement after he lost!
“That’s right. This is the final battle that will determine the ultimate owner of the Yitian Eternal Throne. How could we start without Great Sorrow?” said Heavenly Sovereign Ling.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan growled, “How could Su Yi possibly go back on his word with so many people watching? You people are Heavenly Sovereigns! Why are you so petty?”
But against all expectations, Su Yi just shrugged. “Sure.”
However, he had a request of his own. “But don’t you think you ought to take out your throne fragments, too?”
The Heavenly Sovereigns furrowed their brows.
“It was my Ol’ Brother Ku Xuan who made this Struggle for Heavenly Fate happen, so let’s have him look after the pieces,” said Su Yi. He tossed Great Sorrow, which whooshed into Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s hand.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan smiled, his eyes narrowing into slits. “See? My little brother understands the bigger picture. Now, it’s your turn. Come on, let’s see your throne fragments!”
The Heavenly Sovereigns exchanged glances, their frowns deepening.
After a while, Heavenly Sovereign Wen said gravely, “Very well. We’ll entrust the Yitian Eternal Throne pieces to your care. That’s better than letting them fall into anyone else’s hands!”
With that, he took out a fragment and passed it to Ku Xuan. The other Heavenly Sovereigns each did the same.
“Ol’ man Ku Xuan, you’re the founder of the Taiwu Sect and a famed Heavenly Sovereign. Don’t do anything stupid,” said Heavenly Sovereign Wen, his expression inscrutable. It sounded like a reminder, but it carried a clear hint of a threat.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s heart sank. He could just about guess what the other Heavenly Sovereigns were thinking. If Su Yi still had Great Sorrow, they’d have to be cautious about attacking him after the Struggle for Heavenly Fate, but now, it’s a completely different story. Su Yi no longer has Great Sorrow, so there’s no need for them to hold back!
I could, of course, give the sword and the other fragments to Su Yi, but if I did, the Taiwu Sect would become the common enemy of all the other Heavenly Sovereigns! The consequences of that would be far too dire! Perhaps it’s because they realize this that the Heavenly Sovereigns feel so assured entrusting the Yitian Eternal Throne fragments to my care.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan said gravely, “If Su Yi wins, the Yitian Eternal Throne will be his. If that happens, none of you can renege on our agreement!”
The Heavenly Sovereigns laughed it off. Sure, but if Su Yi dies, will his belongings still belong to him?
Over in the arena, Le You frowned. “It’s too early to say who’s going to win!”
Bo Yunjun looked at Su Yi, then said something inexplicable. “Su Yi, do you think we still need to fight this battle?”
Outside the arena, the onlookers’ expressions shifted. It’s true. No matter who wins, the situation... doesn’t bode well for Su Yi! Given the circumstances, so what if Su Yi takes first place in the Struggle for Heavenly Fate?
Su Yi took a sip from a jug of wine. “If you think this battle is unnecessary, you’re welcome to forfeit.”
Bo Yunjun blinked in surprise, then clasped his fist and bowed. “I understand now.”
Su Yi had decided not to back down. No matter what happened after the Struggle for Heavenly Fate, here and now, Su Yi had no intention of retreating! This was his invincible, unassailable spirit! How many others in Su Yi’s decision could be so bold?
Bo Yunjun had bowed out of respect for Su Yi’s unflappable calm in the face of disaster.
“Cut the chatter and show me what you’re made of!” roared Le You before charging straight ahead. He propelled himself off the ground, shaking the entire arena.
Practically simultaneously, two strange bolts of silver tribulation lightning appeared above Su Yi and Bo Yunjun’s heads, then slammed down ruthlessly.
Bo Yunjun’s robes billowed around him as a glowing golden page hovered before him, like scripture written in the heart’s blood of sages. It glowed with intense light, blocking the silver tribulation lightning. When silver lightning and golden scripture collided, a rain of destructive power scattered.
Su Yi just disregarded the silver tribulation lightning. When it slammed into him, his defensive aura quivered slightly before neutralizing it. Meanwhile, he shot through the air and attacked.
Boom!
Sword qi shot forth in a smooth, natural movement, hurtling toward Le You.
Le You made no attempt to run or dodge, instead clashing with it head-on. In the end, he was forced two steps back, his blood and qi churning on impact. His eyes widened with irrepressible surprise.
Practically simultaneously, a cage of sword qi descended from the heavens, shooting toward Bo Yunjun. Dense sword qi flowed with heart-palpitating, inscrutable luster.
Bo Yunjun bellowed as countless glyphs of the Grand Dao illuminated around him, shining like stars of immeasurable divine majesty. But in the end, the cage of sword qi shattered them all. Their lights dimmed, and the very air itself collapsed.
Bo Yunjun retreated immediately, narrowly avoiding getting trapped within the cage.
In just one move, Su Yi shook both Le You and Bo Yunjun at once. The sight astonished all who saw it.
“Hmph!” Le You snorted and charged explosively, boring through the air like a beam of black lightning. His momentum instantly soared. His hands formed seals, then descended. It was as if he were raising an unparalleled, destructive divine cauldron, only to slam it at Su Yi.
His ferocity left countless onlookers in awe. Le You most certainly hadn’t displayed such shocking strength during his battle with Lian Yue.
Su Yi neither dodged nor fled. He just threw a punch, and... Bang!
Heaven and earth shook, and Dao Light poured down like a waterfall. Le You’s ferocious strike collapsed, and he was forced back once more. Before he could steady himself, a book of scripture condensed from the power of the Laws. When its pages flipped, they manifested thirty-three hidden realms, thoroughly surrounding and entrapping Le You.
Practically simultaneously, Su Yi dashed in explosively. With a swing of his palm, a tide of sword qi swept forth. It presented an enormous threat to Bo Yunjun.
Bo Yunjun’s brow furrowed, but he neither dodged nor fled. He swung his palm like a painter moving his brush, drawing it through the air with a flourish. The sky split, forming a massive, abyssal rift that neutralized Su Yi’s attack.
But when Bo Yunjun clashed with Su Yi, it gave Le You an opening to exploit. He soon forced his way out of the thirty-three hidden realms manifested from the book of scriptures.
Kaboom!
The entire arena shook. Misty light swept outward from the point of impact.
This was a truly chaotic, unpredictable battle full of variables. Each combatant saw the other two as his opponent, and all of them were actively restricting and attacking each other. Many of the onlookers got lost trying to watch it. However, they gradually realized that, much to their astonishment, the tides of battle were shifting.
All of this was because Su Yi’s attacks were just too fierce and tyrannical. None of his attacks left his opponents with any room to dodge, so they had no choice but to clash with him head-on.
Le You’s brow furrowed with fury. Layers of seals came undone within his body, and as he fought, his strength soared time and time again.
This seemed unbelievable. Over and over again, he overturned the crowd’s perception, shocking even the Heavenly Sovereigns. The crowd was finally starting to understand why Lian Yue had admitted defeat earlier. She’d obviously realized that he was hiding far too much of his strength!
But Su Yi wasn’t surprised. He’d long since sensed that a mysterious power was hidden within Le You, like a malevolent dragon lurking in an abyss. The more he and Le You fought, the more clearly he sensed his hidden power. There was no way Le You could catch him off guard now. It was for this reason that every time Le You’s power rose, Su Yi drew on even stronger powers of the Dao of the Sword. In doing so, he kept him firmly suppressed.
All of this shook the crowd. Every last one of them was stunned.
Le You was absolutely among the greatest variables of the Struggle for Heavenly Fate. He’d hidden himself so deeply that he initially fooled even the Heavenly Sovereigns. But he obviously paled in comparison to Su Yi. No matter how much hidden strength he revealed, nothing changed. Su Yi still suppressed him!
Le You couldn’t help but be shocked and furious. His gaze was terrifying to behold, and he fought with his life on the line.
Bo Yunjun was noticeably inferior. It wasn’t that he wasn’t strong; he wouldn’t have made it to the finals if he were weak. It was just that Su Yi and Le You were so powerful that he seemed weak by comparison. It was obvious to everyone watching that he was no match for his competitors.
Of course, nothing in this world was absolute. Soon, something unexpected happened.
When Le You was forced back again, Bo Yunjun shot forward and tapped the air.
Bang!
Le You flew back like a kite with its strings cut, landing outside of the arena!
A deathly silence descended over the entire venue. Everyone was flabbergasted.
