When Yvonne heard the beep tone from the other end of the line, she sneered. she decided to go over to meet Grace to see what tricks she had up her sleeve.

Twenty minutes later, Yvonne arrived at the Starbucks. As soon as she entered, she saw Grace sitting by the window.

She looked quite at ease, enjoying her coffee. She seemed to have recovered.

Yvonne walked over and sat down across from her. "What’s up?"

She went straight to the point.

Grace looked up from her coffee mug, at her and said, "Our company wants a project that’s with the Taylors."

"That’s none of my business."

Yvonne found it amusing.

Grace put down her mug and said, "You are part of our family. We are the same blood. How is it nothing to do with you?"

"I clearly remember that you said the contrary in front of everyone the other day." Yvonne mocked.

Grace looked a little embarrassed when she brought up that incident, but she still pretended as if nothing had happened. "I admit that what I said that day was a little extreme. I take it back."

"It’s spilled milk, you got it?"

Yvonne retorted.

Grace didn’t care. "It’s okay if you think so, but I think you still don’t understand how things work in the business world. You are part of the clan. So if we are destroyed, so will you. You are after all a White. Do you think that you’ll have a better time at the Taylors if we are doomed?"

"That’s my own problem."

Seeing her stubborn look, Grace said sarcastically, "If that’s the case, I might as well show you something."

As she spoke, she took out a stack of envelopes from her bag and threw them on the table in front of her.

Yvonne glanced at them but did not pick them up. Instead, she asked, "What’s that?"

Grace didn’t answer. Instead, she took out her cigarettes from her bag, lit one, blew a smoke ring, and said, "Open them and have a look."

The strong smell of smoke wafted over the table. Yvonne waved her hand in disgust and picked them up. She opened one and saw that it was filled with those unsightly

photos she had seen in her mother’s belongings.

Her expression changed and her eyes narrowed coldly.

"What’s this?"

Grace looked at her with a look of disgust. "Nothing, but I suddenly remembered this, and I happened to be bored and flustered recently."

"Are you threatening me?"

Grace smiled. "It’s fine if that’s what you think. I heard that Mrs. Taylor hates mistresses. Back then, her husband had an illegitimate child. She was ruthless and merciless. What do you think she’ll think if she finds out that her daughter-in-law was born to a mistress?"

"Nonsense, my mother was not the third party."

Yvonne clenched her fists.

"It’s not up to you. The man she had an affair with was married."

Grace smiled slyly.

Yvonne turned pale. Even so, she tried her best to put up a front.

"Grace, do you think everyone will believe your nonsense?"

Grace wasn’t in a hurry and sneered.

"You are still too naive. Do you really think that the wealthy and powerful families do not care so much about the truth? Let me tell you this. As long as you have a little dirt on you, they can magnify it. With the complexity of the Taylors, it can only be worse. So, do you really want to take the risk?"

...

"You..."

"If I were you, I would work on this deal. Only when the White Enterprise is in a stable position, will you be comfortable at the Taylors."

After Grace saw that Yvonne was still quiet after she spoke so

She did not force the issue. Instead, she said, "I won’t force you. You can think about whether you want to help me or not. However, my patience is limited."

After saying that, she stood up.

"Oh, by the way, I paid for your coffee too. I can leave you these photos. Some of them are things you haven’t seen before. Take your time to go through them."

After saying that, Grace walked off with her ten-inch waterproof platforms and left.

Yvonne sat there and stared at the photos in front of her, her hands were still clenched.

"Dad, I’m here to see you."

At the Gladwells courtyard, Janice walked in along with her belly bulging. Rob walked behind her carrying the bags of supplements.

Originally, Chris had wanted to accompany her, but because something cropped up in the company at the last minute, so he had asked Rob to accompany her instead.

When Malcolm heard her voice, he quickly came out of the room. When he saw his daughter, a surprised smile appeared on his aged face.

"Janice, you’ve come."

"Dad, have you been feeling better recently?"

Malcolm nodded. "Much better. Living at home is good, and I often think of the times when iI started from scratch with your mom."

Janice frowned. It was obvious that she didn’t want to hear him mention about her mom so she didn’t respond to that. Instead, she said to the helper, "Lily, please help me put these supplements away."

Lily stepped forward and took the supplements from Rob.

Malcolm could tell she didn’t want to hear about her mom, so he quickly said, "Let’s go inside."

So they went into the house.

Malcolm got Lily to make them three cups of tea.

Janice glanced at the cup of tea in front of him and knitted her brows. "Didn’t the doctor instruct that you can’t drink a strong thick tea? Why are you still drinking it?"

He felt a little guilty. "I don’t drink it often. I just put more tea leaves in it before you came. I’ll change it."

As he said this, he summoned Lily to get some light tea.

She obviously didn’t believe him.

As soon as she entered the room, she noticed his dark bags under his eyes. At first glance, she knew that he hadn’t slept well.

Drinking the strong tea affected one’s sleep.

It was not something that he occasionally drank.

So, she asked, "How’s your sleep lately?"

He averted her eyes and said, "It’s okay."

Lily came back with the tea. When she heard this, she said, "Mr. Gladwell, you haven’t slept for a few nights."

Being exposed, he was somewhat embarrassed. "It’s not as serious as you said." He hinted at Lily to stop talking.

However, Lily was not intimidated. After all, she was hired by Janice to take care of Malcolm. If something were to happen to him, she would not be able to bear the responsibility. As such, she told the truth. "How can it not be serious? As the saying goes, eat, sleep well, and live a long life. How can your health be good if you don’t sleep all night?"

After Lily left, Janice turned to Malcolm.

"Is that so?"

Seeing that he couldn’t hide it anymore, he nodded and admitted it.

She was stunned. "Why didn’t you tell me?"

"Janice, you still care about me, which is already very benevolent of you. How can I trouble you anymore?"

He said with shame.

She was speechless. What’s the point of saying all these at this juncture.

"Then tell me, what were you thinking about when you couldn’t sleep all night?"

...

Malcolm lowered his head in silence.

Janice waited for a long time and was infuriated when he refused to say anything.

"Fine, now I am an outsider. Forget it. If you don’t want to tell me about it, that’s fine."

As she spoke, she propped herself up against the wall. "Rob, let’s go."

Malcolm panicked when he saw she was about to leave. He quickly stood up. "Janice, don’t be angry. Remember, you’re pregnant. Fine, fine, I’ll tell you. Okay?"

Janice sat down again when she heard this.

Malcolm sighed heavily before saying, "I miss Vanessa."

These words astonished Janice.

She had thought that it was a serious matter but it turned out to be that he missed her sister.

She felt agitated.

She was upset that her father was still pinning for her when she had ill-treated him so badly previously.

When her father saw her facial expression, he knew what she was thinking.

Which was why he had initially hesitated to tell her.

He paused for a moment and said, "I know you must think that I’m foolish to say this, but no matter what, Vanessa is my flesh and blood too. She’s not a bad kid, but she had been spoiled by your step-mom. Janice, I know that I don’t have much time left. I just want you and Vanessa to be by my side before I die. I know that I’m selfish, but..."

He choked as he teared up.

She couldn’t take it any longer. She recomposed herself and said.

"But do you think she wants to see you?"

He fell silent.

She like she was about to explode like a volcano.

But faced with her own father, she couldn’t bear to vent her anger, so she could only suck it up.

In the end, she said, "Okay, you miss Vanessa. I’ll send someone to find her for you, but you have to promise me that you’ll have a good sleep starting tonight. If I find out that you won’t sleep all night again, I won’t care about you anymore."

After that, she stormed out of the old residence.

On the way back, the more she thought about it, the madder she became. It was said that there was nothing wrong with being senile.

How could he still be thinking about Vanessa when he was already so sick? To think that she was so worried and took such good care of him when he fell sick... she felt like he didn’t care as much about her.

She tried to calmed down and finally felt more at ease.

Forget it. He is dying. Why should I argue with him?

If he wants to see her, then let’s make it happen.

With that in mind, she turned to Rob, who was driving, and said, "Take me to the office."

In the office, Chris was reviewing some documents at his desk. He was quite annoyed that the company he was working with had cancelled their project at the drop of a hat.

After checking around, he found out that someone from his family had a hand in this.

Thinking back to the board meeting a few days ago, he and his mom had opposed his dad during a discussion. This was probably a stab back from his dad.

Chris found it ridiculous when he thought about it.

Father and son falling out with each other and hurting one another.

How preposterous!

However, for the sake of his mom and Janice, it was sweet revenge.

"It’s just one project. I can afford to lose it."

So he threw the document aside, stood up, and was about to leave.

There was a knock on his office door.

Janice walked in, her belly bulging.

"Why are you here?"

He was surprised and hurried to help her to a chair.

She let him help her sit down in an office chair and said, "I didn’t disturb you, did I?"

His gaze softened. "No, I was just about to go look for you. What’s wrong? Why didn’t you stay at Dad’s for a while longer?"
