Four Split Personalities

Chapter 2508 - 1183: A Day of Leisure?

Although Yi Dong’s expression was rather serious and his tone very sincere, the former members of the Fenrir Team beside him, who were also nicknamed the ’Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse’ — Ned, Yina, Crab, and Saracha — still found it hard to take this seriously. This is very understandable, as in their perception, they were just very ordinary people.

Regardless of the worldview, distinguished individuals and geniuses are always the minority, and their actual proportion is even much lower than we might imagine.

However, because those people always stand in the spotlight, it creates an illusion for people that there are a lot of elite individuals, while in fact, there is only a small number in the focus.

To cite an inappropriate example, the accident rate of airplanes is far lower than that of cars, but every airplane crash usually makes the news, whereas other mainstream modes of transportation in the industry, like cars or bicycles, unless it’s a large-scale chain collision or a car breakdown with a beautiful young trainee inside who, despite being bruised, remains resilient — in situations with influence or topic potential, otherwise most people wouldn’t know this information.

In summary, what the author wants to express here is that though in this information explosion era, we often actively or passively pay attention to those elite individuals, ordinary people remain the vast majority.

Similarly, even though the near five-million-word content of this book is filled with many geniuses, monsters, and gifted beings, whether in The Realm of Innocence with its players and NPCs to the people living in the Real World, ordinary people still make up most of them.

Certainly, the term ’ordinary’ here is not a derogatory term, given everyone has their own life and brilliance; worrying over the nation’s big affairs is a form of life, while rushing about for salt, rice, oil, and vinegar is another form of life.

So for these fresh Undead by the campfire, wanting to instantly change the thought patterns they’ve had for decades, if not centuries (specifically referring to Yinna Morning Dew), it’s not an easy task.

It’s like if someone told the ’Chaotic Neutral’ personality of Motan: "Buddy, let’s plan well and throw two pounds of dung in front of the White House for fun," the latter might very well agree happily, then energetically start planning where to get dung, how to hide the dung, the font of the warning letter, the angle to throw the dung, and the escape route after having fun.

But if it’s the same event, and that person approaches not the ’Chaotic Neutral’ personality of Motan but a college student living a peaceful and joyous life, be it home conditions, grades, personality, or worldview, all fairly mainstream, the latter would likely think of him as mentally disturbed.

It’s not because the latter thinks ’you’re tricking me, you can’t really want to throw dung with me at the entrance of the White House,’ but because he believes he couldn’t accomplish such an extraordinary feat as ’throwing dung at the White House’s entrance.’

So Ned and the others are not disbelieving the ’Master Lin Dong’ in front of them, but they instinctively feel there’s no reason for them to become elite individuals.

"You’ll understand in the future."

Yi Dong didn’t bother to explain further, instead he smiled indifferently: "In conclusion, don’t think too much about unnecessary things now. What you need to do at this moment is to match your soul and body as much as possible, and stabilize your state completely."

Crab pounded his chest with force, grinning: "I feel great right now, just like when I was alive."

"Mr. Saracha."

Yi Dong raised an eyebrow, calmly saying: "Please punch him."

Bang—

In an instant, the Lizardman Martial Monk decisively delivered a Rising Dragon Fist, sending Crab flying into the air.

"What’s up!"

Crab glared at Saracha angrily as he landed heavily on the ground.

The latter shrugged while holding his arms, as if the punch wasn’t delivered by him.

"Does it hurt?"

Yi Dong interrupted Crab right before he could jump up cursing, calmly asking: "Does the place where Saracha hit you just now hurt?"

Due to his dark skin, Crab looked almost the same as in life, he blinked then instinctively touched his jaw where he suffered a heavy blow, reacting for a while before nodding: "It doesn’t hurt hey!"

"See, that’s the problem."

Yi Dong laughed, spreading his hands: "Saracha punched so hard just now, and Crab doesn’t feel pain. Isn’t that strange?"

Then—

Including the people involved, Ned, Yina, and Saracha all simultaneously looked at Yi Dong, giving him looks that could be interpreted as ’Is that really strange?’

"Pfft."

Yi Dong chuckled, shaking his head: "Could it be, in your view, so-called Undead are beings completely unaware of pain, exhaustion, purely driven by the soul?"

Yina blinked blankly: "Aren’t they?"

Ned awkwardly scratched his beard: "Uh, I always thought of myself as a corpse, at best, a living corpse."

"Our blood no longer flows, and our hearts have stopped working."
