Chapter 606: Reawakening Of The Spirits

Hearing his question, High Shaman Zephyra let out a soft, melodic breath that was half-sigh, half-chuckle.

Her milky-white eyes softened, carrying the patient, ancient wisdom of a woman who had guided generations of warriors through the brutal, unforgiving paths of spirit cultivation.

"Esoteric heavenly laws?" Zephyra repeated, shaking her head gently as the fringes of her robes danced in the breeze.

"No, Sol. Those are merely romanticized fairy tales told by people who have never held a blade or felt their own core burn. Reaching Layer 4 has nothing to do with comprehending the sky or meditating under a waterfall for a hundred winters."

"Then what is it?" Sol pressed, his eyes narrowing. "There has to be a method. A formula."

"There is no single formula, Sol," Veylara interjected, her golden voice grounding and firm. "Every warrior who has ever stepped into the Fourth Layer across the entire history of the Great Orrath crossed that threshold in a completely different way.

Some broke through in the middle of a life-and-death slaughter when their mortal limits collapsed.

Some achieved it after months of silent, grueling physical conditioning.

Others reached it through deep, harmonious resonance with their ancestral teachings. But none of them... none of them... did it the way you are trying to do it."

Zephyra took a step closer to Sol, her gaze seems to be able to pierce straight into his body.

"Tell me, Sol," Zephyra said softly, her tone turning deeply solemn. "How long has it been since you first awakened your sun core and bound your very first spirit?"

Sol paused. He calculated the timeline in his head. From the moment he was thrown in this primitive jungle, got his dual-spirit, fought his way through the wilderness, and marched into the Veynar war...

"A few weeks," Sol replied honestly. "A month at most."

Hearing this Veylara and Zephyra were silenced by the sheer absurdity.

Even though it all had happened in front of her eyes, but still, Veylara stared at him, her deep blue eyes wide with a mixture of profound awe and known disbelief.

Even knowing his monstrous combat prowess, and absurd advancment speed, hearing the actual timeline spoken aloud was enough to make the seasoned Layer 4 Warchief feel a wave of dizziness.

"A few weeks..." Zephyra breathed, a rare, self-deprecating smile touching her pale lips. "Do you truly understand what you just said, Sol? Look at me. Look at Veylara. Look at Commander Thauren, or the late Chief Vane."

Zephyra raised a slender, pale hand, pointing out toward the vast, untamed expanse of the southern mountain range.

"Every single Layer 3 warrior in the Great Orrath spends years... often decades... grinding their bones against the stone.

They spend years hunting beasts, accumulating battle experience, suffering gruesome injuries, and slowly, painstakingly feeding tiny wisps of essence into their sun core day after day, moon after moon.

It takes ten winters of bitter struggle just to climb from the early stage of Layer 3 to the peak! And you... you surged from an unknown mortal to the absolute apex of Layer 3 in a matter of weeks."

Zephyra’s expression hardened, shifting from wonder into severe, urgent warning.

"What you have achieved is nothing short of a miracle that defies the very history of our ancestors," Zephyra continued, her white eyes locking onto his crimson gaze.

"I doubt anyone in the recorded legend has ever crossed so many layers at such terrifying speed. But because you moved like a raging wildfire... you are suffering from a catastrophic flaw that will destroy you if you try to force Layer 4 right now."

Sol’s eyes flickered. "A flaw?"

"You possess zero foundation," Zephyra stated bluntly, leaving no room for pride. "Your spiritual foundation is practically hollow."

Veylara stepped up beside her, nodding in grave agreement. "Listen to the High Shaman, Sol. Our path as spirit warriors is not merely about accumulating a vast pool of raw energy.

The essence we absorb from the world does not belong to our physical flesh directly... we feed that essence into the dormant beast spirit residing inside our sun core.

As the spirit feeds, it grows. It evolves. And through the natural spiritual feedback of that evolving spirit, our own physical bodies, pathways, and bones are tempered and elevated."

"It is a slow, sacred dance of mutual nourishment," Zephyra explained, gesturing toward her own chest. "The beast spirit must slowly digest the essence. It must assimilate with your blood, your body, and your soul.

Over months and years of constant harmony, the boundaries between the warrior and the beast dissolve until you become one single entity.

That slow, gradual assimilation is what creates the true, immovable foundation of a spirit warrior."

Zephyra paused, her voice dropping into a chilling, hushed whisper.

"And you have skipped that entire process completely."

Sol stood motionless, the High Shaman’s words echoing through his mind like heavy iron bells.

"Even if you had the Mountain-Marrow Stone in your hand during the battle with Bruga," Zephyra warned fiercely, "I would have thrown myself in front of you to stop you from attempting the breakthrough. Do you know what happens to a spirit inside a warrior’s core as it approaches Layer 4?"

"It expands," Sol guessed quietly.

"It regains its sentience," Zephyra corrected, her voice dead serious. "A beast spirit is not a dead tool, Sol. It was once a living, breathing predator of the wild.

When a spirit is fed enough massive essence to touch Layer 4, the dormant instincts, memories, and ferocious will of the beast begin to awaken from the dead! If the warrior has spent years slowly assimilating with the spirit, their wills merge seamlessly.

But even if the warrior has somehow got massive essence, but the spiirt is not assimilated... if the spirit views the host merely as a fragile cage..."

Zephyra’s eyes flashed with ancient dread.

"...the awakened beast spirit will turn inward. It will violently tear open the host’s sun core, devour their soul from the inside out, and reduce the warrior to a mindless, bloodthirsty abomination!
