From Human to Skeleton: Revived with Infinite System Crystals
Chapter 842 - 842: Night Routing Borrows The HandSomebody alive had touched the door.
Ty kept that sentence where he could see it. Alive mattered. A desk could borrow authority. A pool could hide a route. A label could turn a child-sized thing into an item.
A door still needed a hand.
His own hand stayed open on the table. Four fingers. One absence. Cold in the wrist where the record had tried to use pain as agreement.
Yun-Jin watched the open palm.
"His wrist reaction eased when the hand was separated from the desk."
Omina wrote it down, then drew a line between staff proxy and temporary desk.
"Keep the proxy human without opening the human."
Zunoder looked toward the line as if it had disappointed him by staying useful to someone else.
"A staff proxy can preserve continuity without personal liability during evacuation routing."
JJ set the broken pencil down.
"Continuity sounds cleaner when it leaves the hand out."
Heissman rubbed his thumb along the edge of his page.
"Proxy class matters before blame. Some staff touch panels because a screen gives them a harmless task."
That landed harder than accusation.
Ty looked at him.
Heissman stared at the paper, embarrassed by his own fairness.
Omina took the fairness before Zunoder could own it.
"Proxy class first. Then assignment timing. Then panel display."
The page accepted the order with almost no fight.
That worried Ty.
Easy answers had started to feel like doors left open on purpose.
The proxy class opened as night routing relief.
JJ made a sound under her breath and turned it into a cough.
Heissman's shoulders sank.
"Night routing relief fills holes when regular supervisors are pulled into casualty floors."
Zunoder moved immediately.
"Then the hand was part of an emergency bridge, not a personal deviation."
Omina kept the pen still.
"Emergency bridge remains separate from scope breach in this room."
Caelin's aide looked toward someone outside the feed.
"Night routing records will drag living staff into public complaint channels."
Caelin's answer came tired and fast.
"Class and timing only. Public office carries complaint overflow."
Jade's feed stayed low on the shelter floor.
"No shelter link, no child field, no volunteer phone calls."
Waddell said from off camera, "And no helpful office summary with our address in it."
Caelin looked like he had earned that one.
"No shelter link and no shelter-facing summary."
The page weighed the cost, then opened the assignment window.
Ty felt the cold in his wrist tighten again.
Yun-Jin's hand closed on his sleeve before he moved.
"The wrist pressure returned when assignment timing opened."
Omina wrote it beneath the proxy class.
"Body reaction enters as harm tied to assignment timing."
The answer came in two parts.
The proxy slot attached after item left movement scope.
The staff touch came after proxy attachment.
JJ leaned over her page.
"That means the desk found a hand after the route already went bad."
Zunoder answered with care.
"Or the desk routed relief after conditions changed."
Heissman shook his head, slow enough that no one could mistake it for drama.
"Relief routing should bring supervision closer to the patient, not farther from the fact."
Omina put patient and fact into the margin like two things the room had tried to keep apart.
The page gave patient low weight.
JJ smiled without humor.
"It hates that word because the word has parents."
Mara's hands stayed folded. Rose sat beside her now rather than behind her, both of them inside the same corner of the feed.
Mara spoke without looking at the page.
"Night relief got the worst labels. If a record said escort, we moved the escort. If a record said property, we moved property. The lie came before the hand."
Rose touched her shoulder once.
"That is practice history, not personal confession from you."
Mara nodded.
Omina took the distinction.
"Panel display opens before staff identity. What did the staff proxy see?"
The page resisted harder than it had for proxy class.
Ty's wrist hurt in a cleaner way this time. Less cold. More pressure under the skin, like his body had found the shape of the question and hated it.
Zunoder's eyes narrowed.
"Panel display risks implying state of mind without proof."
JJ picked up the broken pencil again.
"Good. State of mind is where lies go to wash."
Omina drew a box around display only.
"Display text only. No state of mind. No staff name. No child name."
The page kept resisting.
Caelin's aide swallowed.
"Display text may prove staff reliance before identity opens."
Caelin looked at him.
"Say the useful thing without asking me to be gentler."
The aide looked down.
"If the display lied, the staff proxy may have touched a false task."
Omina wrote false task in the margin.
This time the page gave it medium weight.
Ty saw Heissman close his eyes.
JJ saw it too and spared him again.
The display opened as escort identifier transfer.
After that, it told the worker there was no active child attached and no biological item attached.
Ty's wrist folded toward his palm.
Yun-Jin held the sleeve, but she let the movement finish short of pain. Stopping all of it would have made his body feel trapped. She seemed to understand that without asking.
Omina's pen moved before Zunoder could speak.
"The display contradicted the actual route burden on the record."
The page resisted contradicted.
Omina held the pen there until the resistance gave up and left the word in place.
Zunoder recovered.
"Actual burden was sealed from the staff proxy. The proxy acted on available display."
Heissman opened his eyes.
"That helps the staff. It hurts the desk."
JJ pointed the broken pencil at him.
"Keep talking like that and I will stop being mean to you by accident."
Heissman's mouth twitched once.
The room let the almost-smile pass because it had nowhere better to put mercy.
Jade's camera dipped lower on the shelter side. For a second the feed showed only floor tile and the leg of a chair wrapped with old tape.
"A worker who sees no child cannot protect a child."
Waddell moved something out of view with his shoe.
"That label turns every adult after it into cleanup staff, not witnesses."
Caelin's aide typed both lines, then looked at Caelin as if asking whether public office wanted that much truth on purpose.
Caelin gave him a tired nod.
"Enter the ugly version before anyone offers us a polite one."
Omina asked the next question.
"Who controlled the display category before the staff proxy touched the panel?"
The page tried to fold display category back into temporary desk inheritance.
Ty's wrist answered with a hard pulse.
"It is trying to put the lie under the desk."
Omina looked at his hand.
Ty kept it open.
"The desk moved the item. Someone else shaped what the hand saw."
The page gave his first sentence low weight and the second one medium.
Zunoder watched the difference.
So did Omina.
"Display category source class, with identity still sealed."
The answer came slower than the display text and settled on routing mask.
Caelin's aide went still.
Jade's feed shifted, and Waddell's shoe crossed in front of the camera before the tablet settled again.
Heissman looked at the line as if it had put a bad taste in his mouth.
"Routing masks change what a downstream worker sees without changing the original record."
JJ's voice turned flat.
"So the record kept the child, and the worker got a clean box."
Omina wrote it in safer words because the room would need the safer words to survive review.
"Original burden retained upstream. Downstream display reduced burden."
The page accepted that with medium weight.
Medium was starting to feel like a door hinge.
Omina asked for mask timing before the room could treat medium weight like comfort.
"When did the routing mask attach to the display path?"
The page tried to charge the answer to delay again.
Caelin accepted before Jade had to spend shelter breath on it.
"Public office takes delay cost for mask timing."
The timing opened.
The mask attached after the proxy slot and before the staff touch.
Ty looked at the panel path again. Night routing relief gave the hand a role. Manual staff proxy covered the touch. Escort identifier transfer was what the worker saw, stripped of child and bone before the panel asked for agreement.
The person at the door had touched the panel with a living hand.
The hand at the door had been given an empty thing to approve.
