The empty thing stayed on the page after the words around it stopped moving.

Ty kept his hand open and looked at the line until the clean box became uglier than the door. One panel touch. One harmless task. One upstream choice to make the task look harmless.

That person still had no face.

Omina seemed content to leave it that way for now.

"Mask owner class. No name, no face, no staff proxy identity."

Zunoder's eyes moved from the page to Ty's hand and back again.

"Routing masks protect downstream workers from sealed material they cannot handle."

Heissman answered before JJ could.

"They protect workers only when the hidden fields stay honest upstream."

JJ looked almost offended that he had reached the useful knife first.

"If the box is clean because someone scrubbed it, show the scrubber."

Omina wrote scrubbed box in the margin, then crossed out scrubbed and replaced it with reduced display. JJ saw it happen and let the insult stand because the safer phrase would travel farther.

Caelin's aide had already started typing.

"Display-owner complaint cost will land on public office."

Caelin nodded without looking away from the feed.

"Public office carries display-owner complaint cost for this review."

Jade's camera stayed low.

"Keep shelter route, child field, and public search prompt sealed."

Waddell added, "And keep my floor out of your complaint funnel."

Omina wrote both limits into the cost before the page could get ambitious.

The page accepted shelter route and public search prompt.

It hesitated over child field.

Ty's wrist tightened.

Yun-Jin saw it and shifted her hand lower on his sleeve.

"Child field pressure reached his wrist before the field opened."

Omina recorded the reaction.

"Body reaction enters as harm tied to child-field pressure."

The page gave harm low weight.

Ty kept breathing through his nose. Low weight still meant the word had survived.

Omina tapped the routing mask line.

"Who owned the clean box before it reached night routing relief?"

The answer tried to slide under the temporary desk.

Ty felt it as a tug through the wrist and up into the base of his thumb.

He kept the thumb still.

"It is trying to make the desk big enough to hide the hand behind it."

Omina looked at him.

He kept reading the pull.

"The desk moved the route. The mask shaped what the worker saw."

The page weighed both sentences.

The first came back low.

The second came back medium.

JJ's pencil tapped once.

"Medium means the room knows where the soap went."

Zunoder turned toward her.

"Colorful phrasing will not help the finding in review."

"It helped you understand it before review did."

He looked away first.

Omina kept the room on the line.

"Mask owner class. Separate from temporary desk unless the record proves merger."

The page fought separate harder than merger.

That told Ty where to look.

Heissman saw it too.

"If separate bothers the record, the mask owner used the desk while remaining separate from it."

Omina rephrased before the negative shape could settle.

"Temporary desk used as route host. Mask owner remains separate."

The page accepted the safer wording with medium weight.

Then the owner class opened.

The owner class opened as bridge display operator.

Caelin's aide made a small sound over the feed.

"Operator class will point complaint routes at living support staff."

Caelin cut the objection short.

"Class stays open, complaint routes land on public office."

Jade's camera lifted just enough to show the taped chair leg again.

"Do not send strangers hunting support desks near children."

Waddell answered from off camera.

"Or hunting children near support desks, since your callers enjoy shortcuts."

Caelin accepted both limits with the look of a man learning how many kinds of mess his office had once called outreach.

"No public support-desk hunt and no shelter-adjacent search prompt."

Omina wrote the limits before the page could route curiosity toward the shelter.

Mara's face changed in the feed.

Rose noticed and turned toward her.

Mara rubbed both palms over her knees.

"Bridge display was the place where ugly routes became work orders."

The room gave her space.

She kept going because stopping would have made the words look like fear.

"If someone wrote it as escort transfer, night relief saw escort transfer. If someone wrote it as property release, supply saw property release."

Rose said, "Keep it to how the work moved, not who made you remember it."

Mara nodded once.

Omina wrote work-order conversion in the margin.

Zunoder leaned on the new phrase.

"Work-order conversion may explain the reduced display without proving bad intent."

JJ's broken pencil pointed at the mask line.

"Intent can wait outside. The box still had an owner."

Omina nodded.

"What could the bridge display operator see before the mask attached?"

The page tried to charge the answer to sealed-burden risk.

Caelin accepted before the aide could ask.

"Public office carries sealed-burden risk for field presence only."

Omina narrowed the scope.

"Field presence only. No values, no names, no images."

The page opened the upstream view.

The upstream view carried a child field. It also carried a biological item field and a door burden field before the mask stripped the display down.

Ty's wrist pressure changed.

The cold turned into a grind under the skin, small and mean, like the file had found a place to twist without moving his hand.

Yun-Jin moved with it.

"The reaction changed after upstream field presence opened."

Omina wrote the change without asking Ty to explain his own pain.

Zunoder kept his voice careful.

"Field presence leaves the operator's reading unproved at this stage."

JJ lifted one shoulder.

"Fine. Then prove what they hid before we hang what they knew."

Heissman looked at her.

"That is a fair order for this room."

"Do not sound surprised when I behave like this."

He looked down fast enough that Ty almost smiled.

Almost was enough.

Heissman kept his eyes down, but his voice stayed useful.

"Bridge display operators see field flags before they release a downstream task."

Zunoder seized the space between field and value.

"Field flags can exist for privacy without proving human review."

Heissman shook his head once.

"A mask attached between proxy slot and staff touch means a release choice happened in the middle."

JJ looked at the page.

"The owner needs no child's name to know something got hidden."

The page tried to give that low weight.

Omina added the timing beside it, and the weight moved to medium.

Ty watched JJ's pencil stop tapping. Timing had become the room's handle because motive could still hide behind a face. Timing had to stand on the page and show where the hand moved.

Omina asked the next question.

"What did the routing mask remove from downstream display?"

The page resisted remove, then tried to replace it with reduce.

Omina kept remove.

Ty's wrist answered hard enough that his fingers curled halfway.

Yun-Jin held the sleeve and let him stop himself.

He opened his hand again.

The routing mask removed the child field first, then biological item, then door burden.

The room stayed quiet in a way that had work inside it.

Heissman broke it because the finding needed a human mouth.

"That reads less like privacy and more like instruction."

Zunoder's hand settled on the table.

"Instruction remains an interpretation until source intent opens."

Omina wrote it with no expression.

"Mask removed child, biological item, and door burden from downstream worker display."

The page accepted the sentence with medium weight.

Medium again.

Ty had started to understand medium. Medium meant the file could still argue, but it had stopped pretending the thing was imaginary.

Jade spoke from the floor camera.

"Does the downstream worker ever see that those fields were removed?"

Caelin's aide stopped typing.

That was the answer before the answer.

Omina asked anyway.

"Was any removal notice visible to the staff proxy?"

The page gave the cleanest lie of the night.

No removal notice visible.

Waddell said nothing.

Jade said nothing.

Ty felt the grind in his wrist settle into a shape he could hold.

That made the worker smaller in Ty's head. Smaller meant easier to use. The owner of the box needed no villain at the panel, only a hand that trusted the label.

The worker at the door had seen an empty box.

The owner of the box had seen what got taken out.
