Chapter 213: Chapter 6: Dominating the Field

The last batch of newcomers had been here longer and had spent more time studying it, but they too had discovered nothing.

Yet this young man had caused such a change in the water wall with a casual touch. How could anyone not be astonished?

The bearded newcomer, who had been so fierce and threatening just moments ago, was left completely speechless.

In the face of such a blatant show of skill, any words seemed pale and powerless.

Mo Ning’s calm voice echoed leisurely throughout the underwater cafeteria.

"The secret lies in using certain Divination Formulas—specifically, the ’Water Pattern Array Formula’ and the ’Flowing Dynamic Magic Calculation Formula,’ both low-cycle formulas."

"I calculated a specific ’Magic Water Wave Spectrum,’ and by combining it with a type of Water Witchcraft, I can open a Secret Gate hidden within the water wall."

These two formulas were a gem of knowledge he had gleaned from *Low-Cycle Divination Introduction*.

The entire hall fell silent.

Over ninety-five percent of the newcomers present, including those from the last intake, had never even heard of these two Divination Formulas.

The few who did know of them only knew the names and had never actually studied them.

Their skill in Divination wasn’t high enough, so studying them would have been a waste of time.

SPLASH—!

The sound of splashing water suddenly erupted.

A distinct ring appeared on the surface of the water wall, and the water within it sank inward to the depth of a finger.

Everyone could see it—this was undoubtedly the "Secret Gate" Mo Ning had just mentioned.

The water within the Secret Gate finally came "alive," rippling gently like normal water.

What was difficult to comprehend was that the Secret Gate was vertical. Logically, a torrent should have poured out and flooded the entire underwater cafeteria.

But nothing of the sort happened.

It was as if the surface of the water within the Secret Gate had become horizontal.

Mo Ning’s right hand gently skimmed the surface. He slid three fingers into the water, and as he slowly drew them across, they left three clearly visible trails.

Outside the water wall, the school of colorful fish seemed to finally sense the impending danger and began frantically flapping their tails, trying to escape.

But it was too late.

Mo Ning unhurriedly performed a Trick—Water Control.

Everyone immediately saw a strange, two-layered vortex appear in the water.

The two vortices were nested together, a phenomenon that completely defied common sense, and yet there it was.

Any newcomer with some knowledge of Water Witchcraft could recognize it: the renowned "Watt Twin Turbine."

As the name suggested, its creator was named Watt.

The Watt Twin Turbine was so famous, in part, because the "Watt’s Double Vortex Series Formula" was an indispensable core Divination Formula for anyone wanting to precisely manipulate water currents.

On the other hand, it was also often used to train one’s ability to precisely control water currents.

However, creating a Watt Twin Turbine was no easy feat. It required meticulous Divination calculations and precise Magic Power output. The slightest deviation would cause the twin vortices to collapse into a single, ordinary one.

The Divination calculations alone, precise down to the millimeter, were far beyond the abilities of any newcomer present.

To put it bluntly, this was yet another blatant display of skill.

Soon.

The Watt Twin Turbine exhibited a powerful suction, and a few of the slower-swimming fish were caught fast in its pull.

They struggled desperately but couldn’t escape the terrifying pull. Within a breath, they were dragged next to the Secret Gate, their dorsal fins even breaking the surface.

SPLASH—SPLASH—

The struggles of the fish kicked up countless splashes.

Strangely, the splashes flew out sideways and then fell back to the water surface sideways, as if the direction of gravity itself had been subtly altered.

The crowd was once again dumbfounded.

Meanwhile, the once-arrogant bearded newcomer subconsciously took two steps back, a look of utter humiliation on his face.

Each display of skill was like an invisible slap, striking him hard across the face.

In front of everyone, Mo Ning reached out again, easily snatched a fish, and pulled it right out of the water.

He turned to face the bearded newcomer, his tone exceedingly sincere. "Friend, the meat on this fish is exceptionally tender. It should be quite delicious. Would you care for a taste?"

When he had first stepped into the underwater cafeteria, he had looked at the fish swimming freely outside the water wall and had the passing thought of catching one to taste. Now, he was finally on the verge of making that wish come true.

And those words, "Would you care for a taste?" were like a sharp spike, piercing the bearded newcomer’s very soul.

The man stood frozen in place, utterly at a loss. If a crack had opened in the ground, he would have jumped into it without a second thought.

To be "interrogated" like this in front of so many people... he couldn’t answer, but he couldn’t stay silent either. The unbearable feeling was something he would likely never forget for the rest of his life.

But Mo Ning was only asking casually; he had no real intention of inviting the man to eat fish.

After all, he had gone to a lot of trouble to catch this fish. It would be a waste to let someone like that eat it.

Mo Ning glanced at the bearded newcomer and said with a smile, "Alright, it seems you’re not a fan of fish."

The bearded newcomer’s lips twitched a few times, but he didn’t dare make a sound. In his mind, however, he was screaming, ’Yes, yes, that’s right! I don’t like fish!’

The burly man made a secret vow to himself: ’I’ll never eat fish again for the rest of my life.’

Mo Ning turned and handed the fish to the little chef girl with the cowlick. "Take this back and store it," he instructed.

Reina let out an excited cry, taking the fish with both hands. Her pretty eyes shone with undisguised adoration.

The bearded newcomer discreetly took another step back. His companions were already as silent as stones.

Even a fool could see that this young man was a true Strong Person.

There was a well-known saying at the academy: if you want to live a long life, never provoke a Strong Person.

Because they have countless ways to make your life a living hell.

This was a perfect example.

With just a few words, the bearded newcomer had been utterly humiliated, and might even be psychologically scarred when it came to fish.

Mo Ning took another step forward, the smile on his face deepening. He deliberately repeated his earlier words.

"Gentlemen, you all entered the academy a year before me. You have a greater grasp of Witchcraft and are stronger than I am."

"The way I opened the Secret Gate just now seemed a bit clumsy. Your knowledge should be broader than mine, so I’d like to ask for your guidance—is there a way to improve it?"

The hundred-plus newcomers from the last intake—158 of them, to be exact—didn’t dare to breathe too loudly, let alone answer.

Many even regretted coming to Newcomer Cafeteria No. 12 at all.

Skipping a meal would have been far better than their current predicament.

Andy kept his head down, not daring to look at Mo Ning again, and disappeared deep into the crowd.
