Gacha Harem System

Chapter 275: Why Didn’t I Think Of That?

As if they’d choreographed it before, all of them turned to look at Lukas, waiting for his decision.

He chuckled, shaking his head. "You’re the expert here, Karrakas. We’ll do what you say."

There was no point in making other arrangements. They were here to make use of Karrakas’ expertise, not to see the sights and enjoy the experiences.

"Perfect!" Karrakas clapped, a grin appearing on his face. "Follow me."

They walked through the city, and they were surprised to see a tram glide slowly in front of them across the street, several tourists sitting inside it.

"They have trams here?" Akira blurted, surprised.

"Yeah." Karrakas said, looking this way and that as he tried to read the street signs. "Azure Town is more like a town on the First Floor than a location on the Second Floor. You’ll see."

He had a mischievous grin on his face that said he was looking forward to seeing their reactions. But that didn’t stop him from explaining as they walked.

"One of the reasons why Azure Town has never had a case of beasts inside the city in its entire history is because of its... unique location."

"It’s situated in a natural cavern made of thick crystal rocks, which means beasts can’t just dig through for the sole purpose of attacking the city. They might not even know where to start digging from."

"But in addition to the defenses around the city, the security is also helped by the fact that the city only has two gates. One leading to the spatial gate, which in turn leads back to the First Floor."

"And the other, which leads deeper into the cave network around it, and of course, Fort One and Two."

They soon arrived at the gate. It was located in a wide courtyard, with more people streaming around here than at the main gate they’d taken into the city.

The people here were dressed for business, looking less like tourists and more like warriors.

The gate was also far larger than the other gate, making it look grand and imposing, with its crystals shifting in color with every step they took closer to it.

Fortunately, there was no fee to exit Azure Town, so they left without anyone stopping them.

Outside the gates was a relatively small platform, with what looked like white golf carts, connected to each other in the form of a train waiting on both sides.

On the left side, a smartly dressed man was yelling for them to board if they wanted to go to Fort One, and on the other side, someone was also yelling that this was the vehicle for Fort Two.

To one side, there was a makeshift market, with merchants yelling out the price and rarity of the merchandise they had on hand, and people milling about them.

On the other sides were those selling food, ranging from dry rations to fat cuts of uncooked meat. Some even had meat skewers roasting over charcoal and covered in oil and spices, making them sizzle as they roasted.

The aromas of the different foods on display mingled together to create an intoxicating aroma.

Melody saw the meat on display and her mouth began to water. Then her eyes landed on a piece of steak, and before anyone could stop her, she dashed towards it.

"Melody!" Lukas called out, but she didn’t seem to hear him.

Karrakas and Akira shared a grin, well aware of Melody’s love for meat.

"Go get her," Akira said. "We’ll be waiting by the carts."

Lukas gave them a nod and began walking through the crowd at the food section, eyes moving this way and that in search.

She finally saw Melody just as she received what looked like a disposable takeout container. She took a long sniff of the aroma, and a wide grin appeared on her face.

"Melody," Lukas sighed as he caught up with her.

Before he could say anything else she turned to him, eyes shining.

"Lukas! Look at this!"

She opened the container, showing him the hot and juicy steak inside.

"I can’t wait to taste it!" She squealed.

Seeing the innocent excitement on her face, the admonition died down in his throat. She looked so excited that he couldn’t bring himself to scold her for it.

Instead, he chuckled, stroking her hair with a soft smile. "Don’t you think we should get some for the others too?"

Lukas didn’t think it was possible, but Melody’s eyes lit up even more. It was as if someone had turned on a brighter light inside an already bright room.

"Why didn’t I think of that?"

She immediately turned back to the seller, requesting for three more takeout steaks.

The seller grinned, giving Lukas a nod and immediately set to work. Minutes later, they had four takeout containers in total.

They returned to the cart, where Karrakas and Akira had already chosen one of the carts, sitting in the front seat and leaving the backseat empty.

Lukas and Melody promptly took the back seat, with Melody excitedly distributing the food.

"This one’s for you. This one’s yours. I added extra spice to yours, Akira."

Karrakas took the container, an amused expression on his face as he opened it.

"I already ate breakfast, but thank you for the..."

He trailed off as the aroma hit him. He swallowed subconsciously.

"How much did you say this was again?"

Melody chuckled. "Do you want another one?"

Karrakas looked like he was seriously considering the offer before shaking his head. "No, thank you. I’ll enjoy this one."

They began eating, each one retrieving their knives and forks from their spatial rings instead of using the ones given to them with the containers. Those looked cheap and flimsy.

When the cart train was full, the man who had been calling for passengers began moving down the train, collecting the fare.

Since she was at the front, Akira paid for all of them. The fare was cheap, so it didn’t feel like she was being extravagant.

Soon, it was time to move. The driver entered the cart at the very front of the train, merging his mana into it and was about to drive when a shout echoed through the large courtyard.

"Wait! Crystal Wolves Sighted!"
