WHOOSH!!!
The fabric of space screamed as the whole Chess pieces shot towards the senior in unison, their massive golden forms blurring into a singular, inescapable tidal wave of divine energy, smashing right into him.
BOOOOM!!!!!
The explosion rocked the very foundations of the void, sending shockwaves of pure golden light rippling across the endless expanse of stars. The sheer force and magical force of the Infinite Strike was enough to shatter the spatial barriers of most lower-dimensional worlds.
Mirabella slowly lowered her hand, breathing heavily as golden energy vented from her exhausted form. Her muscles burned, and her vision swam for a fraction of a second:
’This ability can even kill a Peak Divine Sovereign stage cultivator, there is no way he will be unscratched.’ She thought, her golden eyes fixed on the epicenter of the blast, waiting for the dust of the shattered void to settle.
"Impressive, truly impressive."
".....?!"
Mirabella looked up in absolute disbelief. As the blinding golden smoke finally cleared, revealing the Senior, he stood on the air completely unbothered. His posture was perfectly relaxed, his white clothes sparkly clean. There wasn’t a single scratch on him, nor a single thread out of place. It was as if the ultimate attack of her bloodline hadn’t even brushed against his existence.
’A defense skill? But how? The Chessboard passive skill seals off all enemies’ energy, how can he still use a barrier?’ She thought in disbelief, her mind struggling to comprehend a being that could completely ignore the absolute rules of her domain.
"Your ability is good, and being able to use the Sun Chess art to such degree, you are truly impressive." He said, a warm, almost grandfatherly smile on his face.
"You?! How did you bypass the Sun chessboard debuffs?!" Mirabella yelled at him, demanding answers, her frustration boiling over as the absolute laws of her skill were casually disregarded.
"The same way you are immune to all Debuffs. Besides, you are still too weak. The true Chess Art is an ancient ability, having the strength of a Supreme Class artifact, but now, it’s just a legendary skill, a shadow of its former self... You are also too weak to be able to bring out its full powers." He raised one hand, pointing a single finger downward, and casually snapped his fingers.
BOOM!!
The absolute authority of the Senior clashed with her domain. The whole Chessboard below them instantly shattered into countless, dissipating golden particles. The violent backlash of the destroyed domain smashed directly into Mirabella’s core, and she violently vomited blood, her body shuddering under the immense spiritual trauma.
"Mirabella, why are you so fixated on getting these stones?" He asked.
And the next moment, the void beneath her feet rippled. Thick, glowing white chains burst out from the ground, lashing out like vipers, and wrapped tightly around Mirabella, forcefully holding her in place.
"You?!" Mirabella froze, turning her head to stare at the glowing chains, suddenly feeling her vast reserves of divine energy getting absorbed rapidly by the metal.
"No!! Let me go!!" She yelled, thrashing against the bindings as her absolute Sun Goddess transformation violently shattered, the golden light bleeding away into the void, taking her back to her human self. She blinked away the fatigue, staring at the Senior, who gently landed on the invisible floor right before her.
"Answer my question? Why go through all this? If you’re scared of this Curse, there are hundreds of ways to remove it. One of the ways is the conversation you had with your reflection... You are smart, I am sure you already figured this out, so there must be another reason, tell me." He said.
With a slight, deliberate motion, he tightened his hand. In perfect sync, the chains tightened agonizingly around her, and forced Mirabella on her knees, completely subduing the proud Sovereign.
"Go on, tell me..." He asked, his white eyes peering directly into her soul.
WHOOSH!!
"....?"
He looked around, sensing a sudden shift in the atmospheric energy. He could feel the surrounding Energy flying towards Mirabella, aggressively entering her body as she desperately attempted to bypass his chains, instantly replenishing her depleted energy. But to Mirabella’s utter surprise, he merely willed it, and drained the whole spirit energy in a second, leaving her core entirely barren once more.
"Siphoning energy is useless, I will simply drain it from you." He explained calmly, staring at Mirabella, who finally ceased her physical struggling and slowly looked up at him.
The silence stretched between them, heavy with the weight of her secrets.
"I have my reasons."
"Which are?" He asked, unyielding in his inquisition.
Mirabella was silent, her mind flashing back to the blood-soaked battlefields of a life long past. And after some seconds, she looked up at him, her eyes burning with an entirely different kind of fire: "Why are you asking me this?! Didn’t you say you know everything?!"
"I do know the reason, but I want to hear it from you... I want to know if that reason is why you’re so determined."
Mirabella blinked, the aggressive fire softening into profound sorrow as she stared at his feet: "I must save her." She muttered under her breath.
"Why go through all this for a stranger? Even creating a physical body for her." He asked, pushing her psychological boundaries, and continued: "Also, what if she doesn’t want to come back?"
Mirabella closed her eyes for a long moment, steadying her trembling heart, and reopened them, glaring at the god before her: "She isn’t a stranger to me, and no one doesn’t want to live?!" She yelled at him, the raw emotion finally tearing through her cold facade.
The Senior sighed: "To you, she isn’t a stranger, but to her, you are one... In your previous life, she stood by your side, believed in you, and trusted you to the very end... She had many opportunities to escape, but rather stayed back and helped you, which led to her death. In this life, she doesn’t even know your name when she was alive, to her, someone named Mirabella doesn’t even exist... Even after knowing all this, you are still helping her."
The memories of her regression—the system interfaces, the hopeless battles, the despair of a weak bloodline—flooded Mirabella’s mind. She raised her head, defying the pressure of the entity before her.
"To you, what she did in my previous life is insufficient, but to me, that was something precious... In my previous life, I was nothing but a waste, a useless player who doesn’t even know how to fight. I already accepted my faith then, but she changed that, she made me find my true self, and because of this, I trained. I fought. I bled. And I finally made a name for myself!! Even when she knows we will end up dying, she still stood beside me! Even if I get reborn ten times, I will protect her in all lives!!"
".....?!"
The Senior was completely dumbfounded, standing speechless as the sheer, unbreakable magnitude of her loyalty echoed through the quiet void of the heavens.
