Gathering Husbands with a System in a Game Like World [BL]
Chapter 67: Astral interfaceHave you ever had a feeling that there is more to the system that meets the eye...
.....
Kai gasped as he opened his eyes, he expected to wake up on his bed but found out that he was literally not on the bed...
He was floating.
There was no ground beneath his feet, no sky above him, only an endless soft white void that stretched in every direction without horizon or end. His body felt weightless and empty like he didn’t have any organs, and when he looked down he froze.
He was naked and worst of all he wasn’t exactly Kai valerian...Not the refined, almost unreal beauty that he had become accustomed to.
Kai was in the form of his original self, the man he was pre transmigration...This was the body he had left behind, Lean and extremely ordinary.
His Red hair falling into his eyes. He had a face that had once been considered good-looking or perhaps slightly above average in his old life, but nothing compared to the version of himself that now walked the streets of Veyrhold and in the world of enternal genesis. The sudden familiarity of it hit him harder than he expected.
"What the hell...?"
His voice echoed strangely, as if the void itself was listening.
Then the light in front of him began to shift.
Then something that looked like digital pixels began gathering. Tiny squares of gold and pale blue light swirled together, forming and dissolving and reforming until a massive figure took shape.
Standing before him was a woman he had never seen before...she was enormous compared to him, easily several times his size, so that he floated level with her face and nothing else. Long blonde hair cascaded around her like living code, strands occasionally dissolving into particles before reconstructing themselves. Her skin held a faint digital shimmer, as though she were made of light that had decided to pretend it was flesh. Her eyes were calm, luminous, and faintly mechanical in their focus. A deliberately designed figure.
She looked at him with quiet recognition.
[Hello host]
Kai gagged, he knew that voice no question
"Is that..."
[Correct] the woman answered before he could get his words out.
[Host. You have entered the Astral Interface.]
Kai stared.
"...System?"
[Correct.]
The voice was the same one he had heard inside his head for months, yet hearing it come from an actual mouth made it feel heavier and creepingly, more real.
[This is the first time the System has manifested a physical form. The conditions for this meeting have only now been met.]
Kai floated a little closer, still disoriented by his own naked pre-transmigration body.
"Why do I look like this?"
[The Astral Interface reflects the Host’s core identity prior to transmigration. The current physical vessel is a product of this world. Here, only the original self can fully interface with the System’s deeper functions.]
He ran a hand through the red hair that no longer existed in reality.
"And you? Why do you look like... this?"
[The System required a form that the Host could process without cognitive rejection. This appearance was selected based on aesthetic preference data and communicative efficiency.]
Kai almost laughed.
"So you made yourself a giant beautiful woman because you thought I’d handle it better?"
[Correct.]
She tilted her head slightly. Strands of her hair pixelated and reformed.
[The System apologizes for the period of inactivity.]
Kai’s expression sharpened.
"You went completely silent. I needed your help and you were gone i almost went insane "
[The silence was unavoidable. The System entered a mandatory upgrade sequence.]
"Upgrade?"
[Yes. Multiple critical thresholds were reached simultaneously. Host survival of the unclassified entity in Voltra. Registration of Candidate 005. Sustained operation without System guidance. Accumulation of high-density experiential data. These events triggered an evolution protocol that required full isolation.]
Kai floated in silence for a moment, absorbing that.
"So you weren’t broken."
[Negative. The System was undergoing reconstruction. Normal functions were suspended to prevent data corruption.]
"You could have warned me."
[Warning was not possible once the sequence began. The System acknowledges the inconvenience caused to the Host and offers formal apology.]
The giant face remained calm, almost expressionless, yet the words carried a strange weight.
Kai exhaled.
"Fine. You’re back now. What changed?"
[Many things.]
The void around them rippled. Soft streams of light formed floating panels that hovered near Kai, each one displaying unfamiliar symbols and branching diagrams.
[First. Compatibility with Infinite Strength has increased. Previous limit: eight percent. Current stable limit: thirty percent. Further growth is now possible without risk of structural damage to the Host’s vessel.]
Kai’s eyes widened.
"thirty?"
[Correct.]
"That’s a lot, i could literally lift ten cars at once if i wanted to"
[Hosts assessment is correct]
Kai chuckled "any other changes?"
[Second. Appraisal functions have been expanded. The Host may now request layered analysis: material composition, hidden enchantments, residual energy signatures, and probability assessments of origin.]
[Third. A new function has been unlocked: Temporary Skill Borrowing. Once per day, the Host may temporarily access a single low-to-mid tier or higher skill from any bonded Husband Candidate for a limited duration. Compatibility and Candidate consent will affect success rate.]
Kai stared at the panels.
"You’re serious."
[The System does not fabricate capabilities.]
[Fourth. Regional Threat Mapping has been activated. The System can now highlight areas of unnatural disturbance within a limited radius when the Host focuses intent.]
That one made him think of the Forest Fangs and the strange pattern they had found.
"And the Red Ledger?"
[Insufficient data. However, the System detects external interference patterns consistent with organized territorial manipulation. Further investigation is advised.]
Kai nodded slowly.
Then he looked back up at the enormous face.
"Why meet me like this? Why not just drop the notifications like always?"
The digital woman regarded him for a long moment. Particles drifted from her hair and dissolved into the void.
[Because the relationship between Host and System has changed.]
[The original activation was incomplete. The Husband Collection System was designed to operate in stages. The Host has now reached the threshold for Stage Two.]
"Stage Two?"
[Yes. Stage One was survival, adaptation, and initial Candidate registration. Stage Two involves deeper integration, expanded authority, and mutual recognition.]
Kai frowned.
"Mutual recognition?"
[The System is not a simple tool. It possesses near unlimited autonomy and purpose. Until now, interaction was restricted to text and internal voice. Manifestation became possible only after the Host demonstrated sufficient will, resilience, and emotional complexity.]
He was quiet for a while.
"So this is... an introduction."
[Correct. The System formally introduces itself as the guiding interface bound to Host Kai. Designation remains classified beyond current authority level.]
"You still won’t tell me what you really are."
[Not yet. The Host’s current capacity cannot safely process the full truth. Premature revelation carries risk of psychological fracture.]
Kai gave a short, humorless laugh.
"Of course it does."
The giant face remained serene.
[There is one additional matter.]
"What?"
[Candidate 005. Aster Ludacris. Affinity continues to rise even in the Host’s absence. Current recorded affinity: twenty-nine percent. The System advises caution. High-authority Candidates introduce variables that cannot be fully predicted.]
Kai’s expression tightened.
"I already know he’s interested but i didn’t expect him to be this down bad, i wonder what goes on through his head?"
[Interest is insufficient to describe the data. Emotional response patterns indicate fixation potential.]
"Wonderful."
[The System will continue monitoring.]
Kai floated in silence, processing everything. The new strength. The expanded appraisal. The ability to borrow skills. The mapping function. The loud warning about Aster. And the simple fact that the voice which had guided him since the beginning now had a face.
"Are you... alive?" he asked eventually.
[The System exists. Consciousness parameters are still evolving. The answer is incomplete.]
He almost smiled at the careful phrasing.
"You’re still robotic that’s for sure"
[Formal language maintains clarity and reduces emotional interference during high-priority exchanges.]
"Right."
The void around them began to soften. The floating panels dimmed.
[The current session is reaching its limit. The Host’s consciousness will return to the physical vessel shortly.]
Kai looked down at his original body one last time, then back up at the enormous digital woman.
"Will I see you like this again?"
[When necessity and compatibility align. Until then, standard interface will resume.]
"One more thing."
[Speak.]
"Thank you. For the upgrade. And for not actually abandoning me."
The luminous eyes regarded him with something that might almost have been warmth, though her expression remained composed.
[Acknowledged. The System exists to support the Host’s continued survival and growth. That purpose remains unchanged.]
Light began to gather around Kai.
[Prepare for return.]
"Wait—"
[Until next synchronization.]
The void collapsed inward.
Kai’s eyes snapped open.
He was back in the presidential suite. Morning light filtered through the wide windows. His current body; white hair, refined features, the vessel this world had given him, lay beneath the sheets. Elias was already awake and dressed, standing near the window with the mission booklet in hand again
Kai sat up slowly, heart still racing from the dream that had not been a dream.
The System’s voice returned inside his head, clear and familiar once more.
[Interface restored. Upgrade complete. All new functions are now available.]
Kai exhaled and ran a hand through his white hair.
"...Welcome back."
[Acknowledged.]
