They both appeared at the same time and instantly went into it. There was literally no time for conversation, a fight was what they came to do and they without much talk got into it.

Neither of them made a battle sound either. Their fists connected first and a ripple expanded from the point of impact, tearing through the nearest trees like paper. The ground cracked. Leaves exploded into the air. That deep BOOM everyone in the eastern side of Veyrhold heard earlier? Yeah. That was them.

Elias followed up immediately, a sharp knee aimed at Lucien’s ribs. Lucien blocked it with his forearm and shoved him back, already swinging. They traded blows so fast the air between them kept popping with residual force. Every time one of them landed cleanly, another tree went down. Within minutes the dense patch of forest they’d landed in was just... gone. Flat earth, shattered trees, and a whole lot of dust.

Elias wiped blood from the corner of his mouth and smirked.

"Talk about a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Didn’t think the flower boy actually had hands."

Lucien didn’t even look at him, he had somehow managed to escape with no blood drawn from him. He turned his head, scanning the destruction with that same calm expression that always pissed Elias off.

"You destroyed the trees."

Elias’s smirk dropped.

"You mean we destroyed the trees."

Lucien finally met his eyes.

"I didn’t start this fight. You did. So the blame is yours."

The calm tone scraped against Elias’s nerves.

"You think this is a joke?"

"No," Lucien answered evenly. "But I think you are."

That did it.

Elias vanished and reappeared in front of him with a vicious right hook. Lucien caught it, twisted, and the two of them crashed together again. More trees fell. The clearing got wider. Dust and debris filled the air until it was hard to see more than a few meters in any direction.

And ofcourse the Word spread fast. This wasn’t exactly an ignorable event either. The whole town had taken notice.

"There’s a fight taking place in the forests"

"They said it’s two high ranking adventurers"

By the time the second big shockwave rolled out, adventurers from the nearby training grounds and outer paths had started showing up. They kept a careful distance, eyes wide, already pulling out coins to place bets on the heads of the aggressors.

"I bet on the black haired guy"

"Are you stupid? Haven’t you heard the saying that Elves would never loose a fight? I bet on the Elf"

"Huh? How uncouth really, you really believe in that superstition?"

Another batch

"These two have to be above S-rank."

"More like triple S. You don’t see this kind of overwhelming might every day. They’re literally making the ground quake every time their feet hit."

"Judging by the damage they’re not holding back at all."

"So this is what it looks like when monsters like that stop playing nice... terrifying."

"Yeah."

Whenever stray force or flying wood shot toward the crowd, layered shields from abled adventurers flickered up. Nobody was dumb enough to get closer.

In the middle of the ruined clearing Elias and Lucien finally broke apart after a particularly nasty exchange. Elias spat a thick chunk of blood onto the dirt, then looked at Lucien with a sharp grin, no dent on his face, blood trickled down his nostrils he wiped it with a wider grin.

"You really are something."

Elias said and Lucien chuckled still maintaining the grin.

"And you are less impressive than i expected"

"You are a lot of talk" Elias said and then his eyes glowed with manic intent

"You leave me no choice" he said then he rose into the air.

Golden-white light exploded around his body, so bright it painted the entire clearing in harsh radiance. The air hummed. Elias’s eyes glowed faintly as the full weight of his ability unfolded for the first time in years.

"I really didn’t want to use this," he said, voice carrying easily. "Haven’t used it in years either. But I can make an exception."

Starlight bloomed behind him. Dozens of miniature golden stars formed in a loose constellation around his floating form. With a sharp motion of his hand he sent them screaming downward.

"Let’s see how you handle pressure when real power shows up."

The meteors fell like a luminous rain of destruction.

Lucien just stood there, calm as ever, like the sky collapsing toward him was mildly interesting at best. At the last second thick emerald vines erupted from the ground and wrapped into a tight dome around him. The stars slammed into the barrier in a series of violent explosions. Smoke and gold-green light filled the air.

When the barrage finally ended, the dome was still standing.

Then it collapsed inward in a controlled rush of leaves, revealing Lucien unharmed in the center. In his right hand he now held a long staff of green wood, faint root-like patterns glowing along its surface.

Elias’s eyes narrowed.

Lucien rested the butt of the staff against the ruined earth.

"You’re not the only one with an ability. Let me show you mine."

He struck the ground once.

A pulse of deep green light exploded outward in a perfect circle. Wherever it passed, fresh grass and small plants burst from the barren soil in an impossible wave of sudden growth. The air filled with the scent of sap and wood.

"World Tree. Engracia."

The ground trembled.

From the center of the clearing a massive trunk began to rise. It grew stupidly fast. Roots thicker than a man’s body tore through stone and soil. The bark expanded upward in layered plates. Within seconds the Tree had already surpassed the height of the surrounding forest. Branches spread wide, blotting out chunks of the sky, while secondary roots snaked outward in every direction like they were hunting.

Elias clicked his tongue and flared brighter.

"Radiant Body."

His form dissolved into pure golden-white light for a second before reforming, now faster and sharper, almost hard to track with normal eyes. He shot forward in a streak of brilliance. Dozens of glowing daggers materialized around him and launched at Lucien from every angle.

"Defend me" Lucien said to no one in particular but the roots answered.

They erupted from the earth and from the great trunk itself, intercepting the projectiles, wrapping around some and draining the light from others until the daggers flickered out. One root lunged for Elias’s ankle. He Prism-Stepped instantly, reappearing above the canopy, only for another cluster of roots to burst from a higher branch and force him to twist away again.

Lucien raised his staff. Several of the World Tree’s branches bent unnaturally, forming temporary pathways of wood. He stepped onto one and was carried upward in a smooth accelerating arc, meeting Elias in the air. Their next clash sent out a ring-shaped shockwave that stripped leaves from every remaining tree within a hundred meters.

Below, the watching adventurers had gone completely silent. Unable to explain the godly phenomenon happening above them.

Elias spun a spear of condensed starlight into existence and drove it downward. Lucien blocked with a sudden wall of interwoven roots that blackened and smoked under the heat but held long enough for him to counter. A Fruit formed in his free hand. He crushed it, green light flooding his limbs. The next blow he landed sent Elias rocketing backward through three separate trunks.

Elias righted himself mid-air, blood running from a fresh cut along his cheek, and laughed.

"Not bad, flower boy."

Lucien’s expression stayed calm, the World Tree’s roots were starting to pulse in rhythm with his heartbeat. The Sanctuary effect was already settling over the clearing. The air grew heavier for Elias and lighter for Lucien. Mana drained slowly from the assassin’s radiant aura with every second he stayed inside the domain.

Elias felt it. His grin only got wider.

He raised both hands. The sky above the World Tree darkened as light from every direction began streaming toward him, condensing into a single searing point above his palm.

"Solar Judgment."

A massive pillar of pure celestial radiance screamed downward.

Lucien’s eyes sharpened. He slammed the staff into the branch beneath him.

"Yggdrasil—"

The World Tree answered. Countless roots surged upward to meet the descending beam, weaving into a colossal layered barrier while the main trunk itself shifted, angling its densest growth into the path of the attack. The collision of Solar Judgment and World Tree Authority lit the entire forest in blinding gold and deep emerald.

The explosion that followed flattened what little remained of the surrounding trees and sent a visible shockwave racing toward the city.

When the light finally started to clear, both men were still standing.

Elias hovered in the air, radiant aura flickering but unbroken. Lucien stood atop a broad branch of the still-rising World Tree, staff in hand, green light coiling around him like living vines. Neither looked ready to stop.

At the edge of the devastated clearing a familiar figure finally skidded to a halt, white hair messy from the run, eyes wide as he took in the impossible scale of the destruction and the enormous tree that now dominated the landscape.

Kai stared.

Adventurers crowded the periphery. The ground was a wasteland of wood and craters. High above, Elias and Lucien faced each other like two natural disasters that had decided to wear human skin.

The System’s voice arrived quietly in Kai’s mind.

[Both Candidates have fully released their Mystic Authorities. Estimated destructive output has already exceeded safe urban thresholds. Continued engagement will further destabilize the local environment.]

Kai dragged a hand down his face and exhaled hard.

"What the fuck."
