Gathering Husbands with a System in a Game Like World [BL]
Chapter 82: ExtractionThe word "Insufficient" was still hanging in the air when everything started moving.
And of course Elias recovered first. Even with the attack snuffed out, he was still a trained killer. He dropped low and drove forward with pure physical speed, aiming a brutal elbow at Jake’s throat. The strike was clean, lethal, and should have been enough to take the man down.
Jake didn’t even stand up.
He simply turned his head a fraction and spoke again, almost gently.
"No."
Elias’s body locked mid-motion. The power behind the attack bled away like water through open fingers. He stumbled, caught himself, and snarled in open frustration. Without the familiar weight of his Mystic Ability, his balance felt off. Every movement that should have flowed now carried a half-second of wrongness, like fighting with weights he couldn’t see...
"What the fuck are you?" He yelled at Jake in frustration, But He got ignored.
The system chimed
[Candidate 004 combat efficiency reduced by approximately 40%. Residual physical skill remains high, but integration with rejected authority is causing noticeable imbalance.]
Kai’s pulse hammered in his ears.
Lucien had not moved to attack. After Green light flickered once around his fingers and then died , he deliberately let it go. His eyes stayed fixed on Jake with cold, measuring calm...He was choosing not to give the man another reason to attack him.
He had finally realized that This was the true power of the Red ledger’s leader. No wonder they were able to kill many adventurers.
Around the warehouse, the quiet Red Ledger members finally stepped forward, closing in with the steady confidence of people who had watched this exact sequence before.
Ayan’s voice cut through the tension, tight and urgent.
"Move—now!"
Thin, almost invisible red threads snapped out from his bandaged arm, latching onto two of the advancing operatives and yanking their balance just enough to create a narrow gap. It wasn’t elegant. It was desperate. And it bought them three seconds.
[Candidate 006 has initiated hostile action against Red Ledger assets. Cover status: critically compromised.]
Kai didn’t waste the opening.
He reached for the Astral Store with a sharp mental command. The interface unfolded in his mind, clean and immediate.
[Astral Store accessed.]
[Recommend Purchase: Emergency Relocation Stone – 12,000 Bond Coins. Instant extraction for up to four individuals within five-meter radius. One-time use.]
[Purchase and activate?]
Yes.
[Purchase confirmed. Remaining balance: 68,000 Bond Coins.]
[Emergency Relocation Stone materialized.]
A cool, smooth stone dropped into Kai’s palm. He closed his fingers around it and shouted,
"On me—now!"
Elias was still trying to force another physical exchange, insistent on not going down without a fight..Lucien finally moved, not toward Jake but toward Kai, grabbing Elias by the collar and hauling him backward with surprising strength. Ayan stumbled into the circle at the same time, red threads retracting as blood seeped through his bandage.
Jake watched them the entire time. He still hadn’t stood up.
Just as the stone began to activate, Jake’s calm voice carried clearly across the short distance.
"I will come after you when it is convenient. You will not know the moment until it arrives. Improve. Or the next evaluation will be final."
Kai crushed the stone.
White light swallowed the four of them.
They slammed back into existence in a narrow side street three districts away, the emergency extraction dumping them hard onto the cobblestones. Kai hit the ground on his shoulder and rolled. Elias landed in a crouch that almost failed when his balance betrayed him again. Lucien stayed on his feet. Ayan collapsed to one knee, breathing hard, arm bleeding freely now.
For several seconds nobody spoke. The only sound was harsh breathing and the distant noise of the city continuing like nothing had happened.
[Extraction successful. Distance from Warehouse 7: 2.4 kilometers. No immediate pursuit signatures detected.]
[Warning: Jake Evans allowed the extraction. Probability of deliberate release exceeds 80%.]
Kai pushed himself up, heart still racing.
"Is everyone alive?"
Elias wiped blood from a split lip and glared at his own hands like they had personally offended him.
"What the fuck was that? My power just—stopped."
"It’s anti magic," Kai said. His voice came out rougher than he intended.
Lucien’s expression was unreadable.
"I Figured but i have encountered anti magic before but his is quite on another level"
Kai met his eyes and didn’t deny it.
"I had a very bad feeling. Turns out it was accurate."
Ayan stayed on his knee, not looking at any of them. Blood dripped steadily from his reopened wound onto the stones. The guilt on his face was raw.
Kai turned to him.
"Why didn’t you tell me?" His voice was quieter, but it carried. "At the clinic. You warned me to stay away, but you never said you were already one of them. You never said they were recruiting us."
Ayan flinched. When he finally answered, his voice was small and cracked.
"It’s a Red Ledger thing. Once you’re in, there are rules. I couldn’t... I wasn’t allowed to say it outright. I tried to warn you the only way I could."
Elias stared at him, still off-balance and angry about it.
"So the cute face was working for them the whole time."
Ayan didn’t deny it. He just kept his eyes down.
[Candidate 006 residual affinity fluctuating rapidly. Emotional state highly unstable. Recommend monitoring.]
Lucien crouched beside Ayan without a word and began rewrapping the bleeding arm. Ayan didn’t resist. He just kept his gaze on the ground, shoulders tight.
Elias dragged a hand through his hair and let out a harsh breath.
"So what now? That bastard sat there, shut my power off like it was nothing, and then told us he’d come whenever he felt like it."
Kai looked at the three people around him — one furious and off-balance assassin, one quiet high-authority fighter who had refused to give the Auditor another easy target, and one bleeding, guilty B-rank who had burned his cover to give them an opening and the fact that they had not thanked him for saving Thier asses...
He sighed
"At least he is coming for us all" he muttered
"You say something?" Elias asked, Kai shaked his head
"No i didn’t".
